Make that 4.5. Once again Debbie Mazzuca has written a story that I truly enjoyed. I'm surprise more people are not reading her book's here at goodreads. This story held my interest right from the start. It had a bit more heat in it than Lord Of The Isle did. This is a series but you can read this as a stand alone with no problem. Warrior of the Isles by Debbie Mazzuca has action, adventure and a very hot pair of brothers that kept my attention throughout this historical novel. Aiden is strong, a protector with a truly good heart. He knows his brother is different but loves him with all his heart anyway. Syrena is regal and likes who and what she is. She is strong enough to avenge her father and brave enough to try. I personally think she would have made a great successor, but her father wanted a son to inherit. I guess fairies were non-progressive this time period. When you want a magical book with hot Scots and sweet romance, I highly recommend Warrior of the Isles. Note: There is NO incest in this book.

A Fae princess on a quest in the Highlands looking for her half-mortal brother (Fae father, Mortal mother) and falls in love with his older full-Mortal Highlander brother. At first, innocent and clumsy, she then takes a turn in the middle of the book and becomes a warrior princess with the help of a Merlin-like wizard and a magical sword. Ok read but I feel the storyline is just a tad all over the place.

I have read a few historical highlander books over the years, not enough to be an expert, but enough to know what I like with my Highlanders. Debbie Mazzuca hits the mark with Warrior of the Isles. I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end and I couldn’t put it down. In this story we have two main characters: Syrena a Fae Princess and Aidan a Scottish Laird/Warrior. Syrena is basically from Fae (another place) and after things that happen in the beginning of the book she’s forced to go to Isle of Lewis, where Aidan is the Laird. She has to find Lachlan (Aidan’s Brother) because her father (the King) is dead, and in fae society men believe women are incapable of leading. So, Syrena sets off to find her half-brother Lachlan to bring him back to Faerie where he can rule as the new King since he’s also part Fae and can take control of the throne. She has a wicked stepmother in this case as well but I’ll leave you to discover how she plays a part in the book. There is also Aidan, whose had some traumatic experiences involving the Fae and leads him to not like the Fae at all and he’s extremely leery of it all. When his brother Lachlan was younger he could hear the fae, and it basically drove their father crazy that he could hear those voices so he kept trying to harm Lachlan. Aidan protects his brother throughout the years but still basically doesn’t like the Fae. There is a lot of emotional issues involved between the Hero and Heroine since the Hero doesn’t like the Fae (Aidan) and then there is Syrena who’s basically a Fae Princess. I bet you’re wondering how they are going to work that out right? Me too… Just kidding ;) Let’s just say if you like Highlander books and you like a touch of paranormal aspect to them, then you will LOVE this book! Keep in mind this is the 2nd book in the series, when I got it I didn’t realize it was in a series because the book appears to stand on its own just fine! I did receive this book for Free to give my honest review. This did not affect the rating on the book and my rating/review is strictly my own opinion. Reviewed by Paranormal Addicts

This is the way Highlander's are done! There may only be on Karen Marie Moning but she has put down her pen and left the Highlands so a girl must look elsewhere for the needed fix. Debbie Mazzuca is a fix and more. I loved everything about Aiden and Syrena's lovestory -- kilts, swords, magic, fae, and rich, thick brogue. Did I mention there is hot sex too. It's not perfect but it's so close that I didn't have the heart to take off a star for the one or two irks I found. Aiden is a clan leader who has lived his life protecting his half-fae brother Lan. Syrena is the other half of the brother and she comes to claim her kin. There are so many problems involved in her mission that I didn't see how she was going to pull it off. Aiden doesn't make it easy for her because he hates the fae which makes it difficult for Syrena to be fully honest. Syrena has problems bigger than Aiden which she juggles while trying to win her brother's love so he can return to the fae lands with her. You see, she is a princess and her brother is the heir since their father was murdered. It's a hot mess by the time Lan disappears sending Aiden and Syrena on a journey to find the one person they love above all else. Of course, they must also find a way to have peace between them while constantly dealing with an endless supply of drama. If you are think angst, not so fast -- there are plenty of laugh out loud scenes to keep the reader out of the tissue box. Ms. Mazzuca is very talented in her presentation of the gruffy Highlanders and the snotty fae. This book took me out of a reading funk I couldn't seem to shake. I would have read it sooner but of course, I had not checked my Highlander shelf for too long so I missed it. Never-the-less, I found it again and I am headed to book 3 straight away.

2.75 - 3 Stars After meeting Aidan in book one, I was very excited to read his book. I was a bit disappointed and didn't really care for all of the magical part of the story. I felt like Aidan was ripped off from having a great story. I do recognize he needed to have some Fae aspect added to his story due to Lachlan, however, I really didn't like how it played out. Steam factor 11. No swearing 12. Another Scottish highlander Granted there were many aspects of the story I liked, I just couldn't get in to it like I did with book one.

Loved this book, it was just as wonderful as the first one if not more. I can say one thing, Debbie knows how to write suspense. I was intrigued from the beginning learning that Syrena is Princess and what all that entails, and then the twist at the end was perfect. Although without it, the story would have been lacking.

Laird Aiden Macload & Syrena the Fae Princess....This seemed really long. Full of adventure and getting over long held prejudice Mortal/Fae issues. This goes with her other book Lord of the Isle a time-travel with Allienne (Ali) and Rory who are also in this book.

The first chapter takes place where the Fae live and that's where we meet the main character named Syrena. He tells her that she is to find her brother, Lachlan. The only problem is that he is in the Mortal world and he is half Fae & half Mortal. She eventually finds her way to his world and meets hunky, dangerous, and sexy Aidan. Aidan is Lachlan's half brother ( I know, it's confusing but the author makes much better sense of it in the book). Sparks fly and they start falling for one another. Long story short, this book is filled with lots of action. Love develops and Syrena becomes a much stronger woman that she ever imagined possible. The ending is wonderful. Debbie Mazzuca writes some of the best romance. I was thoroughly impressed that this was her second book to the series. She is so talented and has a way of writing that I simply love. I would recommend this book (as well as the first one) to anyone who loves a good historical romance and doesn't mind the magic involved. I like the magic and imagination that's thrown in. When a romance is this good, the other is just an added bonus. Curl up on your couch and grab a cup of hot cocoa. Aidan and Syrena are ready to take you on a memorable journey through Scotland and the land of the Fae. You will not be disappointed.

Not as good as the first book. Syrena is really annoying, had higher hopes for Aidan. It's one thing to have the Fae play background to the book (like in Lord of the Isles), but when ones comes out and plays, I'm not really into it. After the deep hatred Lan has for everything and everyone Fae, he forgives Syrena so easily and now she has him wrapped around her finger, all because she can't do magic and she untied his ropes after her friend tied him up and hung him from the rafters. PLEASE, sorry the deep emotion that Lan supposedly felt toward the Fae I feel cannot be so easily wiped away. After being lied to (repeatedly), led to believe something else, Aidan still falls for Syrena. He may be able to get over the fact that she is Fae, but the killing point for me would be the continual lying and deceit on the part of Syrena. Omission or un-correction of the truth is still a lie in my book. After about 3/4 of the way through the book, it started to get better. But it still didn't make up for the first part of the book.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I was hoping it was as good as the first, Lord of the Isles. I felt Aidan was too hard on Syrena and allowed his hatred of the fae to cloud his judgement too much. I also felt the love story took a back seat to everything else going on. I loved the first half. The love was beginning to develop then, I almost stopped reading about half-way through when (view spoiler)[ Aidan finds out Syrena is fae and lets his hatred forget everything they had together. This was the second novel of the series I have read. Very good, great characters and lots of love between the two main characters. Syrena is treated unfairly a lot! She starts out as a weak, self-questioning woman. She tries desperately to reunite with a younger brother that wants nothing to do with her and in turn, finds she is in love with his mortal brother, Aiden. Many times, I wanted to reach through the book and shake Aiden. He is a good person but blames himself for pretty much everything. This was the second novel of the series I have read.
