Once upon a time I thought I was going to write children's books. So I crept into big bad Borders in search of how-to clues... I discovered (that's a big word that means "found") this book and it was great! It had all the info I'd ever need, like explanations of the different kinds of children's books... What are and are not kid-appropriate characters and dialogue... It explained what an agent can do for you, how to find publishers, and gave an overview of contracts! This book is an easy read and full of tips that would take a long time to learn on your own. There is a lot of focus on publishing rather than on writing and content, which satisfied a lot of questions I had about what to do after my manuscript is finished. Great book.

Some good information but it didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. Some good information but it didn't tell me anything I didn't already know.

If you are new to writing for publication this is a good first book. However, if you are an avid reader of Writer's Digest books and Writer's Market, get this book from the library and skim it for the information that is original. I was a little disappointed because I did not learn anything new. However, I have been writing professionally for seventeen years. Like I said if you have never bought a writing book before, this is a great one to start with. If you are new to writing for publication this is a good first book. I really like this one. It's logically organized. Never goes off topic. I really like this one. It's logically organized. Never goes off topic.
