This is the fifth graphic novel in the Geronimo Stilton Graphic Novel series. This is another fun adventures of Geronimo Stilton and friends published by Papercutz. In this book Geronimo Stilton and his family and friends go way back in time, further in time than the other adventures thus far: They go back to the Ice Age! They are going back in time to stop the Pirate Cats from changing in history. Readers will learn about the wolly Mammoth and early human beings and how they lived and survived. This wasn’t necessarily my kids’ favorite adventure but it wasn’t bad either. Still I can recommend it to kids and parents reading to their kids for it being clean, fun and educational.

This book is very much like a children's T.V. show. Like a show, there are easily understandable characters that are back for a new adventure. Geronimo and his, seemingly, endless family of mice are out to protect the world from the cats again. I'm a little disappointed there weren't more adult aspects, even though it is a children's book. I did enjoy that the author allowed the villains to be flawed on their own and ruin their initial plans instead of forcing Geronimo to stop them all on his own. Geronimo eventually has to use wit to stop the villains and I think this is a good aspect to throw into kids minds. Finally, I am slightly disappointed by how simple it is. I believe kids of all ages should be able to read children's books and all get something different out of it. This one seemed to only be focused toward smaller kids that could get a general plot from it. I would recomend this book to small children, about 3rd or 4th grade and below, because I find it too simple for older children.

We've read several Geronimo Stilton Graphic Novels and our girls really love them. They are a bit of a pain to read aloud, but once you get into them, the plot moves quickly. We liked this tale about the Ice Age and with the extra blurbs of information within the story, we learned a little, too. We are looking forward to reading the next book, Geronimo Stilton #6: Who Stole the Mona Lisa?. We've read several Geronimo Stilton Graphic Novels and our girls really love them. Kids had this lying around. They like stilton so I thought I'd see what the fuss was. It's like Asterix and it is fine but a little short. The asides are informative but the main story wasn't my thing. Kids had this lying around. They like stilton so I thought I'd see what the fuss was. Disclaimer: This series is another that I have translated, so once again, I'm prejudiced in favor... Nonetheless, I have to admit that I think the Stilton graphic novels are cute and clever! Formulaic story about Geronimo Stilton and his quest to foil the plans of the Pirate Cats. This time, neanderthals, wooly mammoths, and the ice age are involved. Summer 2012 #bookaday

Well, the boy has discovered the horrors of Geronimo Stilton. Thankfully he seems happy for now just to borrow them out from the library. This is one of the graphic novels, so it wasn't as tough to get through, but he has some of the novels out as well so that should be fun. Note my sarcastic tone. In this story, Geronimo and his friends travel back in time to the Ice Age in 37993BC in search of the Pirate Cats. The Pirate Cats have mistakenly traveled to the Ice Age, but now that they are there, want to capture the Ice Monster that has been threatening the local Neanderthals and bring it to the future in order to become rich and famous. Geronimo follow the cats in order to stop them from changing history. I can certainly see the appeal for young readers, and even reluctant readers. The story is fast paced and the vocabulary is easier than the traditional Geronimo Stilton books. There is also the same cheesy Geronimo humour that kids love so much. Throughout the book, there are little snippets of history explaining various things about the Ice Age, for example, who the Neanderthals were, saber tooth tigers, and what a Neanderthal settlement would have been like. I found these interesting and just informative enough so as not to slow down the story. I can imagine that kids would enjoy these bits of knowledge and feel like they learned something, while being entertained with the story. I asked my son what he thought of the book and he said that his favourite thing is when they find out the truth about the Ice Giant. Also, for him, graphic novels are just the best kind of books.

RL: 3.3 Lexile: 600 Fountas & Pinnell: O Geronimo Stilton is an unlikely hero, but a great storyteller. He should be since he is the editor of the Rodent Gazette. This story takes him and his team to the Pleistocene era to stop the Pirate Cats from altering history. The team not only stops the cats from messing things up, but they also manage to reunite a mama mammoth and and her baby. No es el mejor cómic del mundo, pero bueno, menos da una piedra. Lo compré de saldo y como sé que es un personaje que le gusta a mi hijo por lo menos echaríamos el rato. I think that the book was great because it was about a group of mouse who saved a mammoth. And the mother mammoth was mad at the mouse group but the helped the mother with her problem. And the " pirate cats" was trying to stop them and to put the one of mammoths to be a ice statue then the pirate cats put them in jail. And the book was called "geronimo stilton the great ice age" creared by Geronimo stilton. I think that the book was great because it was about a group of mouse who saved a mammoth. This book is from one of my favorite series and it gives information on historical eras. This book tells about the 'cave men' that lived during the ice age. The Stilton family travel to the Pliestocene and try to catch the PIRATE CATS. The pirate cats were going to steal the Eiffel Tower. But Bonzo wanted to take a picture of the Ice Sheet. And there wasn't enough fuel to go to Paris or back. You should read this book! The Stilton family travel to the Pliestocene and try to catch the PIRATE CATS. It's very nice, especially for children or even anyone who needs something to read. It's got facts and funny rat-and-cat talk, and it makes children easy to understand. Also very colorful.
