I would only recommend this manga to people that enjoyed playing Final Fantasy XII, and would like to know even more information about the characters. This manga is not a good supplement for playing the game, which I highly recommend you do first and then read the manga afterward. I absolutely love FFXII and Princess Ashelia B’nargin Dalmasca was my favorite character in the game, so that’s the main reason why I enjoyed this. All of the characters are totally in character in this manga adaptation, but I honestly think that this manga was created with people that have already played the game in mind. The only reason this didn’t get a perfect score from me is that the art is a bit lackluster, which is disappointing because FFXII is one of the most gorgeous games on Playstation 2. The buildings and airships look great, but sometimes the character’s expressions and proportions look off and sort of like the artist rushed them or didn’t reference the game’s concept art enough.

Final Fantasy XII is one of my FAVORITE Final Fantasy games. I absolutely loved the story for the game. So when I found the manga, I just about died with glee and I was not disappointed. The one thing I really love about the manga is that it shows you a side to the characters that you do not get to experience in the game. There are certain ways that they interact, their thoughts and feelings--we get a glimpse into all of these from the manga. The plot flies by more quickly as there are no quests, grinding, etc to get in the way. The only thing you see in this series is the main storyline. So if you're expecting a written version of certain quests, don't get your hopes up. I think this manga is a good way to enjoy the beautiful story of Final Fantasy XII without having to play the game. So if you're worried that you didn't experience the game, don't worry. It shouldn't affect your experience with the manga. The characters are introduced and a good amount of background is given on each of them. I recommend this for any manga fan. But a MUST READ without a doubt for any fans of Final Fantasy, particularily Final Fantasy XII.

For All the 5 Volume Never played a Final Fantasy game but have heard so much about it decided to try the manga. Seemed more like a fan production. The Art seemed novice. The Fight sequences are too confusing although the tactics are explained. As for the Story, too many characters introduced in the first few pages and one not familiar with the game will be confused. Later they did give enough background plot on each of the characters. The plot seemed good and well paced. Due to cancellation the e For All the 5 Volume Never played a Final Fantasy game but have heard so much about it decided to try the manga. Seemed more like a fan production. The Art seemed novice. I really wanted to read this manga because I read on the game's Wiki page that it goes into more detail about Ashe and Rasler's relationship. I was always curious about how they met and their true feelings for one another while I played the game and loved every scene he or his spirit appeared in. But I was a bit let down by the manga. Volume I begins with the party collecting the Dawn Shard from the ruins. It deviated a bit from the game so at least there were some surprises, but most of the scenes were battle sequences and I'm not a fan of reading that sort of thing in a graphic novel. After that, there's a long flashback sequence that does show how Ashe and Rasler are presented to each other as betrothed, though it mentions they actually met as children first. Rasler appears to snub her initially, which hurts Ashe's pride and lets her down because she, being young, was hopeful of a real romance blooming between them even though their marriage is a political arrangement. The rest of their relationship really focuses on political intrigue. There is a plot afoot in the palace with a surprise traitor, and that was probably the best part of the story for me. After that, it's open war. The remainder of the manga the battle sequence that costs Rasler his life and leaves Ashe mourning. We already knew from the intro video of the game that it was going to happen, but at least we get to see how. I wish I could say I'm satisfied knowing that at least he loved her, but in stereotypical manga fashion, they foiled one enemy plot together in the castle and he immediately declared his love for her. lol I agree with other reviewers who say the art is not impressive. Honestly, the characters did not look like themselves. And I disagree with the reviewer who said everyone is very in-character. They are not. Basch, Fran, and Penelo were decent, though they had very few speaking lines; but Ashe was portrayed in a very juvenile manner, Vaan acted like he was hyped up on caffeine, and Balthier was the opposite of the calm, cool, collected, suave guy we're used to. If you've never played the game (and even if you have), the political stuff gets a bit tedious. There's more battle than story or dialogue. The art is mediocre. But I am glad to get some backstory because I really love the game.

Didn't finish, the characters are extremely off, the art is not good plus they sexualize Ashe and she's supposed to be younger in this manga too.

The story can be interesting, but the drawings are too ugly, totally ruined FFXII concept. trad.: A história até é interessante, mas os desenhos estão muito feios, arruinou totalmente o conceito do Final Fantasy XII.
