This is the book I’d like to put in the hands of every young person—male or female. Tantalizingly, feminine and masculine theologies are presented on reverse sides of the book, so that you really end up with two books in one. Of course curiosity about the opposite sex being what it is, the author hoped men and women would be just as interested in the information about the opposite gender as they were in their own. Jason Evert’s Theology of His/Her Body does a beautiful job of explaining the two very different functions of men and women. It is the male’s responsibility to serve and sacrifice for the female and his role to initiate the gift of love and life. In these actions, the male imitates his Creator as our Warrior, King, Bridegroom and Father. The female on the other hand is a mystery to be revealed, a relationship to be pursued and a beauty to be unveiled. Women have value as daughters of the One True God, created in His image and not because of the clothes they wear or do not wear. I have seldom read feminine worth so poignantly explained as I have here; would that every young girl could know her true treasure. We are reminded that just as, ‘It is the glory of God to conceal a matter...’ ~Proverbs 25.2 so it is also the proper attitude of a woman who knows her value to veil her mystery. It would be worth buying this book and giving it to a young person even in the hope (s)he might read it.

I purchased this to give to my teenage daughter. I feel like Jason Evert has done a great job of distilling a whole lot of the message of Pope St. John Paul II as to what it means to be made in the image of God. My prayer is that its message is received by my daughter and that it is shared and reaches more and more of her peers, as they strive to grow in closeness to God and to live fully alive in their femininity and masculinity. Good, reality-based approach for young adults. It is aimed probably best at teens at least 14 years old. Definitely aligns with all I know about the Theology of the Body.

A simple book about Theology of The Body. Need to lend this book to everyone around me: it's filled with truth that sets me from the lies told by people and me to myself through out my life. This encourages me to pick up TOB book by Christopher West. A simple book about Theology of The Body. This was just an okay read but I gave it 3 stars for effort. I admire the author's attempt at helping adolescents connect with their spiritual side and also how important it is to develop a relationship with God. However, I think the book falls a little short on practical advice and relies heavily on some flowery passages from the bible that might be over the heads of many adolescents. I do plan on letting my children read it but I will be following them closely. I even wrote in the margins and This was just an okay read but I gave it 3 stars for effort. Amazing outlook on how we should view ourselves. This book has completely changed the way I look at people and I highly recommend that everyone reads this book. It is short and simple, but packs a huge message. We all need to live in love and stop hurting each other. If only everyone in the world viewed each other like this. We would never see pain in relationships again.

As a Reformed Presbyterian, I had a little struggle reading between the Catholicism to find the meat. But the author does have a lot of valuable analysis/insight for both young men and young women about relationships and purity.

This book was small, but it packed a big punch. I could do with re-reading this from time to time.

I found these good [Theology of HER Body, and flipping over, Theology of HIS Body. The new culture which is hypersexualized demands that teenagers who want to control their sex drive have to stand against the predominant culture.

Although I am married, I really appreciated everything this book discussed! I enjoyed and read Theology of the Body-based books in high school, but still learned new things with the lady’s side. What really impressed me, though, was the men’s side. I had only ever read or heard the female side, so this was very refreshing and eye-opening! I have more appreciation for my husband, and it gave me a piece of mind for raising two boys in today’s culture.

A must read if you want to understand sexuality! I learned some new points in this book aimed at young adults, probably 14 to 24, which I'm passing on to those in my guidance. Written for a teenager, but pretty surface oriented. I needed a review on the theology so I guess it was a place to start.

Interesting book about love and sexuality. I'm not sure how much sense would it make to me if I've read it as a teenager. Interesting book about love and sexuality. I'm not sure how much sense would it make to me if I've read it as a teenager.

I can't help but think that if I'd read this when I was a teenager, or at least before "TOB for Beginners" by Chris West, I would have given it 4 or 5 stars. I do feel that it could have gone a little softer on the repetition of the same ideas and the same scriptures, and a little heavier on the practical application, but that's just me. Of course, it's only about 85 pages, so that may be asking a bit much. Easy and short I love this book for how it puts the modesty God calls us to into a simple language that is easy to understand. I have given it as a gift to young adults and I'm also having my teenage boys read it in hopes that they will understand our bodies are beautiful and our sexuality is a gift to be cherished. One finds it very easy to Digest yet quite rich considering the thickness of the book. Jason's style of writing or getting the message across has never failed to make one laughs, keep the subject light yet really get the message across.
