Evoking Mira With a single glance in the mirror, the reflection gazing back evokes Mira’s sense of self. Struggling to rearrange the broken fragments of her psyche, Mira attempts to piece her memories together into a survivable landscape. Once, twice, a dozen cycles, Mira is forced to experience memories plucked from time, over and over again until they finally take root, Evoking Mira With a single glance in the mirror, the reflection gazing back evokes Mira’s sense of self. Struggling to rearrange the broken fragments of her psyche, Mira attempts to piece her memories together into a survivable landscape. Once, twice, a dozen cycles, Mira is forced to experience memories plucked from time, over and over again until they finally take root, as if they’re happening in the now. One misstep. A chemical-induced amnesia resets the cycle, where she is destined to repeat her own history. Instead of naturally spreading the events over a lifetime, Mira must face the traumatic demons of her past in agonizing bursts. The pain. The joy. The sorrow. Will it be one time too many? That last traumatic nudge propelling Mira over the edge of the abyss into lucidity, or will she be stuck in an endless rotation where her memories lock her away from reality?

Taboo.Dark.Twisted. Standalone. This is one of the darkest books I've read in a long time. I don't know how to describe it, other than completely original and horrifying good. 🤣 If you have triggers, beware. It's proving rather difficult to review this book. My overnight mulling didn't do a fucking thing to help formulate proper words. Now, I've read plenty of stories from Erica Chilson, but this one felt like she held no punches. And that's saying something because her other books are not for the dainty. A sadistic journey through the amnesiac mind of a sociopath and in that path is so many ups and downs, twists and turns, utterly mind-blowing from start to finish. Unconventional. Unique. This story said fuck the box and made its own shape.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads. Be warned. This story is dark and graphically violent. When we meet Mira she is missing much of her memory, and right from the start I wanted to know who she was, how she ended up where she found herself and who had harmed her. Who were the people in her life? What led her to this point? I wanted to know everything about her. I was intrigued. I loved the way the story unfolded, giving us different parts of her life where memories surface as well as events from the present. I had ideas in my head as to where this tale was going and opinions formed about the characters. Any ideas I had were wrong as the story went places I didn’t expect. I love that after years of reading I can still be surprised by a story. It was thrilling. Mira is a strong woman and her story is one that touches on love, loyalty, family and revenge among other things. It is also a story that contains pretty horrific violence but it never felt out of place in Mira’s world. I felt the horrors and events made the good times that much sweeter and more cherished. Evoking Mira is a story that left me smiling and content. I loved that even with the evils experienced and the grotesque violence this book left me happy in the end. It also left me wanting more. While I believe this has been written as a stand alone, to me it felt like the beginning of an epic saga and I hope the author considers writing more books in this universe. If you are looking for a dark and twisty read, I’d highly recommend Evoking Mira.

What a journey! Author warns this story is dark... I guess it is dark story but none the less this story takes you on a journey and has you reflecting on yourself along with the female protagonist. This is a harrowing tale of survival and manipulation from those closest to you. This flow of the plot had kept me riveted. At first glance of meeting Mira you think OMG what she going to remember next... Or who will she remember that betrayed her or is still holding her hostage. She is a strong protagonist with flaws not unlike yourself. You fine yourself in her like she finds herself in her reflection. Her every story evokes something in you to relate to her but yet you also want to shake her to wake her up even more to the game that's being played against her by her family. The end of the story opens your eyes of what she really knew and you kind of get the sense of a HAE you want for her. I will say you think you will hate one male protagonist and love the other two but how wrong I was... HOPE YOU ARE PREPARED FOR THIS RIDE AND IN WORDS OF MIRA "“Gods! I loathe feeling things. My eyes perpetually leak. It’s worse than the random erections or climax incontinence.” Be ready for the ride of different emotions.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~ I am a huge fan of Erica Chilson's gritty, sexy, complicated storylines. I think here she took me right to the edge of where I would want to go in the terms of dark gothic horror ... and yet at the same time it is so utterly plausible, that as soon as I finished it, I wanted to go back and read it again with the fresh perspective I had just gained. It is a rollercoaster of crazy, of painful, of love and of how the concept of a protocol can be abused in the name of love. I really refuse to say more, it needs experiencing first hand! I can assure you that it is a fabulous read, and unusually for Chilson, it is not overly long, so I can easily say, find yourself a quiet space, ideally well lit, and with a few snacks and a cold drink. A hot one will be long cold before you actually stop reading long enough to drink it. Be ready to be transported somewhere else entirely and if you have a fitbit/apple watch heart monitor, I am guessing you will find it is a pretty good cardiac workout too! Highly recommended!

Unique, dark, and unexpected.  This was an entirely different facet of Erica Chilson's brilliant mind than I had ever read before.  It is almost too difficult to write a review. I STILL have the book hangover despite having had time to digest this read.  Evoking Mira is certainly not for the faint of heart, but is a dark spicy read for those wanting something different and out of the ordinary. The characters are,  in true Erica fashion, enthralling and I fell into this story as easily as any of Unique, dark, and unexpected.  This was an entirely different facet of Erica Chilson's brilliant mind than I had ever read before.  It is almost too difficult to write a review. Wow! What a roller-coaster of emotions that read was! First I want to let it be known, Erica Chilson first let's it be known that there are mass trigger warnings throughout the story. In the beginning you're trying to find out what she's remembering as she remembers. What exactly is happening as she goes through this insane process of trying to get her footing back into life. I hated some of the characters at first, but as with everything, you can't judge a book by it's cover lol. The changes with throw your emotions. I just don't want to give too much away, because I want you to be as shocked as I was throughout the story as it unfolds. Just know, at least in my opinion, that this is one you can't put down until you get to the end to finally find out EVERYTHING! Then you're still left wanting more.

Alright! The author has forewarned that this is as far from a romance as one can get, however it’s like... an almost romance, so does it still count as a romance? Okay fine, it’s a grey romance. Let’s start with this entire novel is a trigger warning, literally. Erica Chilson takes us on a riveting and frightening ride of murder, twisted families, manipulation, and underneath all that grime, love and loyalty. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and being able to come to revelation after revelation with Mira was absolutely amazing! The ending was very satisfactory and frankly some of those scenes I needed a cigarette after (pleasure and my nerves were just that bad, lol). If you’re lookin for something mysterious, savage, twisted, but also full of love and devotion - please read this book, you will not be disappointed. Also, the sex scenes were pretty delicious too. My face the majority of the book was one big “oh” emoji. 😮 lol.

Evoking Mira A slightly different angle of a story from Erica this time , A dark tale of psychological terror, abuse and love .maybe not for the faint hearted but I couldn't put it down wanting to see how it all panned out.
