Wow. This was one unbelievable ending to a brilliant series. The characters were just perfect for their role in the story. I can’t wait to read more by this writer. Don’t miss out once it’s released.

Once again Meg has hit us with an incredible addition to the Pelenor Chronicles. This is the last instalment of this particular series, something that I both love and despair of all at once. To become so invested in the characters that just putting the book down is hard! This book takes you on the continuing story of Harper and Dimitri and their fight against Saradon/Valxiron and his insistence that he should be the only ruler of the whole of Pelenor. Interchanging viewpoints make this all the more interesting and aids in fleshing out all the characters. Meg has such a way with words that her world building helps transport you to where each and every character is on the page and it's easy to get lost in the atmosphere she creates. I can't wait to see what Meg's beautiful mind creates next!

However fate can be cruel to such beloved characters as there are many twists, oaths that can't be broken and damning visions that threaten Pelenor. The Dark one has finally broken through his mortal shell. Valxiron wants to extinguish life and light with his darkness. Cruelty and Malice are but appetizers to his dark desires. The Tainted Star will try to sway the hearts of men, the Shadow is to be heeded, and blood bonds near nigh unbreakable. Amongst prophecy there is but a ray of Light, of hope for them all. Light casts shadow, and breaks through darkness but only if it's purpose holds true. I highly recommend reading this entire series to see from start to finish how this unfolds. Major love to all the hard work and time spent to Meg Cowley!

Amazing fourth installment in the Chronicles of Pelenor series! Full of action, twists and drama; I loved how the storylines created in the beginning novels were resolved in this fourth book! Harper, Dimitri, and Aedon probably play the biggest roles here; though we also get to see the fruition of Erika, Brand, and Ragnar's stories... as well as the added benefit of learning more about Raedon which was really neat, and helped fill in some gaps regarding Harper's history. I truly enjoyed the char Amazing fourth installment in the Chronicles of Pelenor series! I completely emotionally connected with the characters and boy! did I go on a ride - there was hope, grief, fulfillment, love, anger, and more!Ms. Cowley again surpassed my expectations with the quality of her writing - wrapping up details, keeping the plots progressing... twisting together and overlapping each other. I was left satiated at the completion of Mark of Fate; I'm not sure if there will be any more installments in this series - I would love it if there are because I totally got attached to the characters; however, if there are not, I will not be left feeling like anything is lacking!

So much love for this series. This is the last book and boy did this book deliver!! I had every imaginable emotion whilst reading it. Love, sorrow, excitement, anxiety.. I so enjoyed reading this conclusion to the Pelenor saga. The action, adventure, pain, sadness and happiness was so vivid, you could picture yourself as being there. Not going to be a spoiler, but if you have read the other books, you'll cheer for the heroes, feel satisfied that the villains got what they deserved, and wax bittersweet for some chracters. The fourth installment of an excellent fantasy series with a great storyline and solid world building. The characters are well developed with their own flaws, but very likeable. The story contains plenty of action, lots of suspense, drama, and twists. A book that definitely keeps your interest, and is very hard to put down. Very well written and highly recommended book and series.

This is the final book in this series and it did not disappoint. There was everything you would want in an epic fantasy, magic, dragons, elves, orcs, dwarves, battles and courage. The characers grew and became real during this journey and I felt their presence long after the last word was read. If you like amazing battle scenes and a story with twists and turns, this will satisfy your needs.

I must admit to being totally lost in this book. From page one you are swept along on an adventure that at times seems overwhelming. How can your small band of heroes win against the might of a millennium old evil entity? The highs and lows are breathtaking, you can’t turn the pages fast enough. Don’t take my word for it grab yourself a copy and lose yourself in a fabulous series, curl up in your favourite reading spot and enjoy. Highly recommended.

Then along comes Dimitri, an enigmatic character of Light and Darkness, who seeks justice in his kingdom of Pelenor, from a tyrant king, and revenge from his family , who have mistreated as the illegitimate son, who has nevertheless won a fortune for his family as the spymaster for King Torath. By securing a dragonheart in a daring act of magical thievery, Dimitri brings back to life the elf Saradon, thinking he is merely misunderstood as evil, and who will help him secure the kingdom from Torath and restore justice in the kingdom once again, only to discover he is possessed by Darkness and Evil itself in the person of Valxiron. Harper enters Pelenor, when Dmitri magically obtains the dragonheart, and is somehow propelled far across the sea, where she has grown up, and finds herself possessing this beautiful ruby-like stone, which Dmitri just now somehow procure from her before he can revive Saradon. As the story take place, each character is developed in such a way that the reader comes to know them intimately, and comes to care about them in a way not accomplished in other fantasy tales, such as Lord of the Rings series, at least so I experienced, even though I read the trilogy several times. If you like fantasy and stories of elves, dwarves and humans interacting, intertwined with magic and sorcery, and scenes of great battles, I highly recommend this series, although I need to give warning that there are scenes of such darkness and evil, which our heroines and heroes must overcome, that if you have a weak stomach, you may have difficulty with, but in the end, good does win, but providing such a contrast that it leaves you thinking deeply. Only poor Aedon, the elven thief, is left to deal with the evil Queen Elf, which leaves a door open for the story to be continued in another series, not completed as yet.

Great series finale What a way to end the series! The Chronicles of Pelenor saga has been a wild ride, from the beginning. There are consequences for their choices and Saradon/Valxiron is a force to be reckoned with. I like how Meg used all of the different characters and factions. Every person had a role or a part to play. If you've liked any of the previous books from Meg, this one will be no exception. It's a fitting conclusion to an epic fantasy series. It very much reminds me of fantasy adventures like the Lord of the Rings and similar stories. I'm looking forward to seeing what Meg does in her next series, as there's still more stories to be told in Pelenor.

Something that not only one person could do but our band of merry misfits and a few more. In a world full of magic, curses, dragons, and bonds that are incredible, you can’t help but be swept away. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Books 2 & 3 of this series were 5 star reads for me. For some reason, I didn’t connect with this one as much as I hoped. The writing and world building is great, the battle scenes were good, and I enjoyed the way the series concluded. I guess I had enjoyed the numerous scenes between Harper and Dimitri so much in previous books that the lack of them in this book left me disappointed. I don’t know if it was my quarantine state of mind when reading but I found myself being irritated by Harper a few times in the book. I think she was trying to come across as fiery and righteous but instead it came off to me as brash and childish. These were the only small things that prevented a 5 star review from me. Overall, I definitely recommend this series and will happily read any new series from this author in the future! *I received an ARC copy*

In the final book of her Pelenor saga, everything finally comes to a head. Book three ended with Harper being reunited with Aedon and most of her other companions, but things have changed drastically since their last meeting. Dimitri returns to Saradon to try to repair the damage he caused, as well as save as many as he can without being caught. But Saradon has been almost entirely overtaken by Valxiron and is no longer in a trusting mood. He is also leading a much greater army than anyone had suspected and cities are left burning in their wake. Harper's companions split up to pursue different tasks as they prepare for the final confrontation, which according to the prophecy will end in Harper's death. Aedon, Liv, and Aedon's two elfin captors seek the burial ground of the dragons, in hopes that they will be granted an unthinkable request - the dragon heart needed to fulfill the prophecy and defeat Saradon. Brand and Erika leave in search of her people in the hopes of convincing them to turn against Saradon. Ragnor leaves to rally his people. And Harper stays under the nose of Saradon, even after Dimitri's attempt to hide her, so she can ensure the common people are cared for, something none of the nobility seem to care about. I loved the first three books of the series, but this book outshined them all. The final battle against Valxiron was reminiscent of the final battle in Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, while still being uniquely Pelenor. It was awful and wonderful and everything you would hope for as the powerless find inner strength, draw on ancient laws, and gain unexpected allies. And it's a memorable battle. I was sad to see the series come to an end, but satisfied with the way it ended. I'm also excited that Meg has promised a spin-off series because I will need something to fill the void soon. I recommend this book and this series to all young adults and regular adults who love epic fantasy.

Our group of friends are doing their best to prepare for the war which they knew would soon be upon them. Harper has been having visions of what was to come and Dimitrius has also told her of his fears about Saradon and his greed for power. Saradon was turning into the dark one known as Valxiron more and more and his evil was so overpowering. Aedon, Harper, Erika and Brand go to the Winged Kingsguard castle in order to warn the dragon riders of the war planned to take down the south of Pelenor. They were not believed at first and almost taken as prisoners but Harper’s visions proved correct. The group of friends go their separate ways to get a dragonheart, and to bring more allies to their side and when the final battle ensues the dragons and their riders, fight among elves, dwarfs and the trees of the forest itself. It is obvious that Valxiron wants Harper and would do anything to get her as she is blood of his blood but Harper is led by Erendriel herself, and the Goddess gives Harper the tools to rid the world of the dark one’s evil but at what cost? Can Harper really be asked so much of, to defend a country which was not even her own but which had become like home to her now? She would do what was necessary to save her friends and her loved one. This final book gave us the ending we deserved, exciting, with battle scenes which are fought with sword and sorcery, courage and loyalty, as well as greed and cowardice and the darkest of evil. It is a story of loss but also one of redemption, a chance for atonement and hope as in the end love wins out as it generally always does. In life there is always love and hate, as well as light and dark but it is the choices one makes which matter in the end.

War comes friends are lost grief is real, the battlefield is carnage, Harper, poor Harper endures, she sacrifices more then she should to for fill her destiny. Aedon for fills his oath and I sincerely look forward to the next book. I could not put this down. Meg wrote this book wonderfully. I find myself at a loss, I felt as though I was there fighting alongside them. I felt the grief and loss, I felt the emptiness of the book coming to an end, I know there is more to this story. but still I loved these books loved Harper, though Aedon is my favourite. I urge anyone to read these books. There wonderful.

There are just too many direct parallels between this book/series and other well known books - the Ents from Lord of the Rings, Voldemort and the Death Eaters from Harry Potter, the Weasley family, the main character Harper faces some of the same things that Harry Potter faces with similar outcomes, etc. I don’t understand why this book has such great reviews. When I was reading it, I would be taken completely out of the story every time something happened that made me think of other books. When I was reading it, I would be taken completely out of the story every time something happened that made me think of other books. There is something inherently wrong with that. I did like many of the characters, which is honestly the one saving grace of the series. However, I was never a fan of Harper. I liked everyone else much more than I liked her. She was often more annoying than likable, and I never understood everyone’s admiration and loyalty toward her. Not a series I would recommend. At its best points it was just okay.

Another brilliant well written Fantasy that will have you on the edge of your seat not wanting to put this book down till you know what happens next. Making you sad when you come to the end but the joy of knowing you can read all four books again is a mega bonus
