I found many things to like about this novel. But I also found myself struck by the compelling and evocative nature of the overall message that underlies the story. And that is, in the face of great tragedy, great kindness can take root and flourish. Shelley Lee Riley, Author of Into Madness: Book One in The Born from Stone Saga

The making of a family with breathtaking prose. Historically set at the end of the 19th Century, George Cramer creates the quite believable voice of the rich and lovely Lura Grisham Myer. Historically set at the end of the 19th Century, George Cramer creates the quite believable voice of the rich and lovely Lura Grisham Myer. She tragically loses her beloved husband and infant child in a terrible vehicle accident in New York on New Year's Eve 1893. She escapes to Paris to try to put her life in order. As she wanders into the Louvre she notices the Dean sisters ensconced on a bench staring at the Mona Lisa. Little did she know that her kindness and concern for these two American girls, Ada Mae and Katie, would lay the foundation for the rest of their lives. The sisters had been left at the museum by their father and told to await his return. Soon after meeting the children, Lura was to learn of their father's murder. As she was pursued by ruffians intent on robbing her, a mysterious man was quietly observing from the shadows and interceeded in protecting her and the girls. Spiriting Mr. Dean's body out of France and taking the girls with her back to the U. S. got the attention of the French authorities, who followed her to New York and sought the return of the girls to France. I am so tempted to tell you more, but I do not want to spoil it for you. The ending was most satisfying, yet there were enough loose ends to allow for a sequel. I can't say enough about how I loved this book. It gave me a better understanding of this period of time in America's history. Well done, George! Well done.

Such an enjoyable read I really enjoyed this light summer historical romance. From New York to France to Boston and Connecticut, we followed the story of a woman who moves from the tragic loss of her husband and newborn to new love and life purpose. Sweet, unexpected romance blooms and a new family comes to life as 2 orphaned sisters find a new set of parents.
