Okay, look. I like both Nathan and Warren. I do. But I really hate this love triangle. I find it very hard to believe someone can be "in love" with more than one person. I can't get enough of this series. I am eating it up like candy. It's such a fun easy read and perfect for getting me through this monster flu that has had me in bed for 4 days! About to start book 4 now. Audible: I added the whispersync audible narration to this kindle book. It is the same narrator as the prior books in the series and she does a really good job. I have such conflicting feelings about this book. PROS: - Azrael was unintentionally funny and weird. All around interesting and rather annoying. Yes, I am listing annoying as a pro because it was entertaining to read. - Taiya was a surprising but good addition to the cast. I liked her childlike ways. I also enjoyed her character progression from being completely freaky to rather endearing. - Adrianne! I missed her in the second book. She is fun, girly, sweet, and rather edgy. CONS: - Warren was missing for most of the book. WHY?! It seemed to have served no purpose other than to progress the 'love triangle'. - Speaking of which --- love triangle ended up being a flat line! Nathan was literally in her bed at one point. Why would any of them allow that? - The amount of men living in Sloan's house. WHAT THE HELL? I love my in laws, but hell if I just met them, I'd not allow them to literally move in with me while my husband's away. - Azrael's weird teaching techniques. If the guy was that ancient and lived among humans for a very long time, he'd understand how to teach without resorting to firing a gun in the house. If it wasn't for some of the outside characters and the witty writing style, I'd hate this book. I can barely stand Sloan right now anyway. I may continue with the series but not for a few days.

I enjoy the story and the characters but the books in this will never be more that a 3 star because of that stupid love triangle. No matter what happens I can’t be completely happy. Reached the limit of my suspension of disbelief. Sloan’s sarcasm is getting old. I’m interested in the basic story, and enjoy the angel mythology but it’s getting a little over the top. Taking a break and will come back to it.

It is hard to put this series down! You should read the books in order. Sloan's life has been crazy from the moment she meet Warren and Nathan. Now she has to deal with the FBI. In this book you find out more about what Sloan and Warren are and what they are capable of. Elicia adds a little something at the end that makes you want to immediately pick up the next book. When Warren’s father unexpectedly turns up, things go from weird to insane, for Azrael is the archangel of death... This third instalment of the Soul Summoner series ramps up the supernatural content exponentially. I was delighted to discover that all the explanations – the how, why and what – of this world made sense, delivered in manageable bites and in plain language – no pretentions here. I did find one section rather slow – the getting to know Nathan’s extended family felt very cozy, but many of the admittedly delightfully described scenes did little to move the plot forward. That aside, once the action got going the pace raced ahead and the final battle was awesome. Sloan having developed some powers of her own added much to her strength as a character, and the guys were all thoroughly well depicted – manly with a touch of vulnerability, and way too much testosterone! As before, there is a highly satisfactory conclusion to the story arc of this individual book, but it also leaves us with an almighty cliff hanger leading on to the next. Can’t wait! Note - I received an ARC (advanced reader copy) in return for an unbiased review – all opinions are my own.

It was so hard to decide because they both seemed so nice and like- couldn't we just all get along? *thinks* Probably not. So this is the make or break installment, the magical number to decide for her who she will CHOOSE to be with. On top of all the romantic drama, demons from her past (book 2) are coming back to bite her on the petunia (or is that for the other side?) and she's slowly realizing just how much trouble she's in. This was just riveting, because she has so many complications that doesn't click with normal life. How will she maintain her facade of normalcy? And then to top it all off, the ending completely BLOWS me away with its shocking- I can't say it. But God, was it good. This book is engaging, hilarious, adorable, heartbreaking, (may make you wish you were in there to choke a certain person) and so great in its writing style and theme of sweetness. Even amongst all the animosity and evil, this book still manages to keep its light-hearted tone. Is it the theme of the book though or just Sloan? Can't tell. I was too busy wishing the fourth book was out already. -_- Definite recommend-you-need-to-read read.

Soul Summoner: 3 Following the pattern, this book takes place three weeks after the last one. Sloan is a mess - blame it on hormones or her own personality weaknesses, but she breaks out into tears nearly ever other scene in addition to being unfaithful, lazy, and unmotivated - she's just not a very sympathetic character. The story is difficult to immerse into because Sloan is suffering from realistic dreams making the reader doubt what is real or not, which throws me out of the story. As a writing device, it definitely doesn't work for this author. The story as a whole has devolved from the original mystery/romance premise into the supernatural, verging onto the religious. I'm giving up on this series. The one positive thing I can say about this series is that the sex scenes are fade to black, so no suffering from juvenile porn language found in many romance novels.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. for this installment I would only give 2.5 stars, mostly because of the h but also because of the love triangle, it got old. the h was annoying and immature and I didn’t like her. the H wasn’t in the picture almost until the end and if I were him, I would have sent her to hell. the only reason this book gets 4 stars is because of azrael and all side characters. I hope the next one gets better.

Sloan, Warren, and Nathan's journey into the world of good and evil continues. This book is not the end but will give you an ending. For every question that is answered another will take it's place. If you love a good paranormal series this is it. We left off in the last book with Sloan Jordan’s boyfriend, Warren Parish, being re-deployed and leaving for the middle-east when she realizes that she’s pregnant. The story in this book takes place during the time just before Thanksgiving to just before Christmas. In the beginning of this story Sloan is seeing her OB/GYN and trying to figure out how she is going to tell the important people in her life that she is pregnant with Warren’s baby. Her relationship with Detective Nathan McNamara is still platonic but that gets tested when she accompanies him to his sister’s burial service, where she gets to meet his family. During this visit there is a hilarious scene with one of Nathan’s nephews that literally had me laughing out loud. Also, Sloan finds out that the FBI is still investigating her as a person of interest in the sex slave trafficking case that her mother was involved in. Queue the ominous music. We meet many new characters, both good and evil. (view spoiler)[ One of the good guys being Warren’s dad, Azrael and a girl named Taiya, who might or might not be good in the long run. Taiya reminds me of Leeloo in the 5th Element. Adrianne, Sloan’s cosmetologist and BFF put lipstick on Taiya and she kept smacking her lips. “Azrael, tell her to quit doing that. She looks like a guppy,” Adrianne said. LOL. (hide spoiler)] There were some scenes that made me cry. At one point Sloan asks her dad why she can't love them both. Her dad says three-way relationships don't work. I say why not? Sloan learns to harness her angelic powers, (view spoiler)[ with the help of Azrael. (hide spoiler)] I particularly love the scene of Sloan practicing with an orange. It reminds me of Luke practicing with the Marksman-H combat remote in Star Wars. Officer Nathan McNamara has a ball cap he wears with interchangeable slogan patches. My favorite one was “The ATF should be a convenience store, not a government agency.” As you can see this story is laced with humor. (view spoiler)[ These are other quotes that I wanted to remember from this story - Azrael talking about heaven: “That’s what my world is like. It is euphoria all the time. You never get used to it. It never gets old. You can never have enough.” Sloan commenting on Azrael: “He’s about readable as braille on sandpaper.” (hide spoiler)] Remember little Kayleigh who was rescued in the first book? She makes a prediction about Sloan’s baby because it turns out she has an ability to see things others can’t. And there are more who have her ability. There are several moments where Sloan faces death…again. Every time Sloan mentions cheese grits I get hungry for cheese grits. :) Even though we know that there are loose ends and there is more to the series, the very last sentence reminds us that IT’S A CLIFFHANGER!

This book is very hard for me to rate. On the one hand, the plotting is excellent. Hyder took to heart the saying put your characters out on a limb and then set the tree on fire. 3rd in the Soul Summoner series. Best to read the books in order. Complicated Angel/demon/death entities with heavenly powers.
