He is using his basketball scholarship to get everything he can out of school so he can get into Medical School. The heroine: Abby Angelo – Spends all her time studying so that she can get into Medical school. She wants to go into pediatrics and she if focused on her studies so she can get into one of her top five choice schools. The Love Story: Drew is a pretty big deal at the school since the basketball team has been winning. However when he goes to his first day of Chemistry Lab in his senior year, he wants to partner up with someone who is more interested in good grades than what he does on the court. So he sits next to Abby who looks focused and studious. Abby sees all the people that come up to chat with Drew after he sits down and thinks that he is quite the player. She is sorry to get stuck with him as a lab partner because in the past she has been used to get good grades. I have read so many New Adult books where the Hero is a bully, a player or both, that this book came as a nice surprise. Drew is a genuinely good guy who is the perfect partner to Abby. They both have the same work ethic and goals. They get along from the start and both are a bit tentative to start something romantic despite being attracted to one another. Drew never dates during basketball season because between ball and studies he doesn’t have the time. Abby is similar in that she has decided to forego college relationships in effort to focus on her studies and getting into med school. However, the two of them keep ending up together and the attraction builds from there. I liked this book quite a bit, but there were times when I got a bit bored, so I think it could be streamlined a bit. Though overall it was worth the read, so I gave it 4 stars! I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own. Blog|Goodreads|Facebook|Instagram|Twitter|BookBub

Amanda Shelley writes a very realistic account of the pressures of college life and I was drawn into it all very easily .This is a very sweet and charming romance that you will just fall in love with. A Fantastic read 5 stars.

This was such a lovely read. It was a sweet and sexy story about two people who, on paper appear to have very little in common, but in actual fact have all their priorities aligned with each other. When Drew Jacobs walked into his chemistry class, he picked the most studious person to sit next to, as he can't afford any distractions from his future goals. However, he soon realises his mistake when Abby Angelos turns out to be not just beautiful on the outside, but also inside. She gets so far under his skin that he finds himself breaking his own rules to have her in his life. "She. Is. Everything. Everything I've ever hoped for. Everything I've dreamed of, and everything I never knew I wanted." Abby has ambitions and can't afford to get distracted. When she first meets Drew, she has no idea who he is or why he's so popular, but she totally misjudges him. However, as she gets to know the real Drew beneath his jock persona, she finds herself totally attracted to him - but she's scared to become invested in him when they'll likely go their separate ways after graduation. I adored Drew and Abby as we followed their story from lab partners to friends to more, as they experience true first love along with all the doubts, vulnerabilities and hopes that two focused, driven and ambitious young people can have when their futures are stretched out in front of them. I loved the spark and passion between them. I loved the support they showed each other and how they found comfort in the other. This was a fairly low angst story with two characters who were like real-life people to me. A really enjoyable read.

Abby is hard working, she is studying hard to get into med school, so when Drew is her new lab partner in chemistry she is less than thrilled. I loved Drew and Abby from the moment they met. I loved how much Drew surprised Abby with the fact he wasn’t just a dumb jock who expected her to do all the work and he’d just get the grade. There was an instant connection between them. Then, things progressed into the friend zone which is fun and the chemistry continued to grow, along with Abby trying to keep Drew safely in the friendzone because who knew where they would both be in a year. However, you can only deny chemistry like theirs for so long before you have to see how good it can be. Drew and Abby’s relationship is fun, sweet and has some steam. I loved seeing how things progressed and how seeing these two people who may seem like total opposites come together and learn there is more to someone than what is on the outside and stereotypes.

Solid College Romance Amanda Shelley gives her readers a solid college romance with the first book in the Perfectly Independent series, Drew. Drew and Abby were well written right off the bat. They are two smart, know what they want young adults and aren't letting anything stand in the way of thier dreams. Except maybe each other. Drew is the reluctant star of the basketball team and while he appreciates his "fans", he has learned the hard way how fake people can be. Same with Abby, she was burned by a guy in the past and definitely doesn't want the school superstar as her lab partner. So much for flying under the radar with him in tow. She's a girl with a plan, one that doesn't include a handsome distraction like the cocky Drew Jacobs. "He may be arrogant as hell, but he's ultimately a beautiful giant." What I liked the most about Drew's character was what lied underneath his big man on campus facade. It was fun and sad at times getting to know more about his characters life and how he became the young man he is today. It was one of those things where I went into the book thinking I was going to be annoyed by this guy and it was the complete opposite. "I just hope I don't get too attached and me makes me cry when it ends. When your life it planned out to a tee like Abby and Drew's are, love is put on the back burner. Something neither one of them thought was going to be a problem when making such plans. Such is the crux of thier storyline, the choice of dreams or love? Drew was well written and I enjoyed the journey of Abby and Drew. They were young, however acted much older for thier age. Along with them, we meet his immediate family and Abby's two best girlfriends that add some much needed humor to the heavy parts of the story. While the book isn't super angsty, it is written smart and I didn't miss my angst all that much. Drew reads as a stand alone in a series, with a nice peek into the future at the end. Looks like Abby's friend Sydney's story is up next and I'll be checking it out! Reviewed for Renee Entress's Blog.

Drew was one sweet read! Drew is the first installment in the Perfectly Independent Series, and it was quite an opening installment. What I liked most about this book was it was low on angst. Even though there were some sad elements to Drew's backstory, there was no broodiness. The characters met, became friends, and fell in love. There were some miscommunications and bumps along the way, but it was a sweet romance with a delightful cast of characters. Drew has a plan and a goal and a reason for his single-minded focus on achieving that goal. Basketball is paying his way to achieve that goal. Drew is humble and does not cash in on his basketball player rep. He's just a good guy looking to finish college and move on to the next stage of his goal. Drew chooses Abby as a lab partner because she looks studious and won't distract him. Much to his surprise, she doesn't even know who he is. Abby is very goal-oriented, like Drew. She is not impressed by his adoring fans and lets him know immediately. Through a series of meet-ups and a genuinely lovely gesture on Drew's part, they become friends. There is an attraction, but neither believes the other is really attracted. Drew and Abby embark on their relationship with roommates involved and trying to stay focused on their goals. What the reader gets is a genuinely delightful love story as they fall head over heels. I truly enjoyed their story, and I look forward to the next in this series.

Drew was an incredibly sweet college romance and the first book that I have read by this Author. Drew and Abby were a surprise to one another and after being paired as Lab partners in class, they start to build a friendship that neither of them expected. They are both extremely ambitious and don't want anything to stand in the way of their end goals. They had so much in common and I loved watching their relationship progress through the stages of friendship to love. They know how to heat up the pages real quick. Plenty of subtle humor that had me laughing out loud at some of the clever one liners. An enjoyable, sweet and easy to read college romance that will have you feeling an array of emotions and will leave a huge smile on your face. I am really looking forward to Sydney's story.

Drew by Amanda Shelley was a delightful and entertaining college Romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. I adored the slow progression of their relationship it was lovely to read, they were so good together and they have a great circle of friends that I am sure will have their own stories to tell in future books. Amanda Shelley writes a very realistic account of the pressures of college life and I was drawn into it all very easily .This is a very sweet and charming romance that you will just fall in love with. A Fantastic read 5 stars. - By Cat W.

Drew Jacobs is a basketball god on the CRU campus. He's also hotter than anyone that Abby has ever seen. But, all Abby can see is that Drew is a cocky jock. And, now Abby's stuck with him as her lab partner for the semester. This college romance is sweet and entertaining. Abby and Drew built a strong friendship first. Through that bond, it was clear how well the two complemented each other. Their journey is realistic. Drew was a sweet read about two college kids who become lab partners but it ends up being so much more. Drew is a star basketball player who wants to be a doctor because of a tragedy in his past, so he's going to use that scholarship for all it's worth so he can get into medical school. And this means that he can't afford any distractions. Abby is also a student who can't afford any distractions as she intends to get into med school as well. However, he really is a nice guy & not a player like she believed which was an utter delight in my eyes. Well, neither saw the other coming, and it seemed that fate put them together so a new journey begins. This is a story which came off realistic without any over the top drama and/or angst. I really enjoyed it a bunch, and I believe you will too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Although she believes that she and Drew couldn’t be more different she couldn’t be more wrong. They have very similar goals for both the present and the future so although at first she was dismayed to find out he was her partner she may just find out that having him choose her could be the best thing to happen to either one of them. Neither of them are looking for a relationship as they are both steadfast in their determination to remain focused on school. They soon find out that friendship is not enough and with the love and encouragement of each other anything is possible.

DREW IS LIVE YALL!!!! Happy release day @authoramandashelley🎉🎉 I absolutely loved this book!! It was a sweet, medium to slow burn, romance that kept me hooked from the first page! Abby and Drew were the cutest things. Both hell bent on making it to med school and both leery of starting a relationship with such lofty goals in mind! But I love when good old fashioned chemistry demolishes those walls and forces our mains together. I loved Abby’s drive, her hesitance, and ultimately her love for Drew DREW IS LIVE YALL!!!! Drew was my absolute favorite. A hotshot jock, determined to become a doctor, and he came across anything but your typical player. I imagined Drew as a shy, yet confident guy and I absolutely loved him all the more for it. Abby and Drew were #goals and their story was so sweet. Engaging and a beautifully quick read, I definitely recommend this book!!!

This is the first book in the Perfectly Independent series and it tells the story of Abby and Drew. They are lab partners and they are complete opposites , yet so much alike. It was a good read. A little bit too slow for me at times, but nevertheless really good. I got an ARC in an exchange of my honest opinion.

Drew and Abby were adorable. They went from lab partners to life partners. They met senior year of college when he sat next to her because he needed a lab partner that will hold him accountable. He was the star basketball player but he wasn’t a dumb jock and he wasn’t going to go pro; he had his sights on medical school and so did Abby. Abby had no idea whatsoever who is Drew and at first she judged him wrong but then she realized how wrong she was. They became great friends and then lovers and Drew and Abby were adorable. This is my first book read by Amanda Shelley but on the first page it got me hooked! I really enjoyed reading this book and meeting Drew and Abby, they are so cute. The chemistry was there, the banter on their first meeting as a lab partner got me cracking up, they are both studious and I like it, the more the fact that they studied medicine which my dream is to be like them— to go to med school. And the title "Drew" is on point because inside the book is all about Drew—it's his story. How he los This is my first book read by Amanda Shelley but on the first page it got me hooked!
