Yes, the initial misunderstanding was a bit over the top, but it was really only the straw that broke the camel's back. At that point in their lives, they just weren't emotionally ready and mature enough to make things work long term. I appreciated that even though mistakes were made, they tried to prevent them from happening again and to show the other that they were all in this time around. The overall pacing of the story was a little slow, but I'm excited to learn more about the secondary characters, especially Mindy and the Sloan siblings. I really enjoyed the bit of suspense too regarding Shannon's parents and their tragic history. It will be interesting to see it all play out in the series. The narration by Joe Arden and Andi Arndt was wonderful and they did a fantastic job bringing Brent and Shannon to life. The additional cameos by Teddy Hamilton, Sebastian York, Maxine Mitchell, Samantha Cooke, and Tim Paige were such a treat. No one does audio better than Lauren Blakely! I'm excited to listen to Ryan's story next.

Brent and Shannon spent those ten years building their careers, him as a successful comedian turned profitable night club owner her as a thriving choreographer. While Shannon didn’t want anything to do with Brent, he knew down to his bones that she was THE ONE, the love of his life who got away. And when life serendipitously puts them in the same path with an opportune business deal, Brent doesn’t hesitate to put all his effort into getting her back. Can they overcome their past? Second chance romances are very interesting to me. While they offer a deep connection between the hero and heroine, there’s always some angst and drama to get over and the bitter-sweet feeling of having to get over the time lost. I also love that the insta-lust between the characters, when well developed, doesn’t feel instant at all, but rather a delicious rekindling while they get to know each other again. Such is the case with My Sinful Nights and Shannon and Brent’s story. My Sinful Nights is book #1 of the Sinful Men series by Lauren Blakely. It’s a sweet and sexy romance. It’s told from several points of view with a happy ending for the couple but introduction to the next book. Both very successful in their professions, can they let go of the past and move forward? Shannon has her family issues, and Brent was always there for her when she needed him. Shannon also has very protective brothers, and Brent will need to deal with them if he has any chance of another shot at love. I love all her brothers, and you’ll get their stories in this series. Andi Arndt is wonderful as usual, and Joe Arden owns this role! His narration of Brent Nichols—hot brother of Clay Nichols—is absolutely amazing. You feel all of his emotions regarding Shan, the love of his life. And his dirty talking game is off the charts!

There was nothing sinful about this book. Second chance romance that started from lack of communication. It was very vanilla & the bit about the gang and the heroine’s mother didn’t really make any sense to me. Maybe more will come about in the other books but for me the whole book was mostly meh! They did get their HEA.

This first book in the series is a second-chance romance at it's absolute best! No spoilers, but the underlying suspenseful story is full of surprises and kept me guessing throughout the whole series. Lauren is a genius plot-twist wizard who sneaks in just when you think you know what is going on and rips the rug out from under you - all while having you swooning and falling in love with the characters and healing along with them for mistakes made in the past with repercussions in the here and now with ripples into a future you will not see coming! Narration performances were nothing short of excellence! Joe and Andi are top notch performers and this book is no exception. They pull you in with their delivery of emotion, empathy, grief, angst, longing, and only the best steamy romance narrative from one of the best writers! You absolutely will fall in love with Shannon and Brent - you can't help yourself!

I really loved the relationship Shannon has with her brothers, and her grandmother. It makes for full and hearty story. I can’t wait to keep listening. The narrators were great, I loved that each character had their own voices. Gives that extra something to the story. It really is special to get a new voice for each character.

An intriguing first look into a romantic suspense series. While this one is light on the suspense, it definitely leaves the door open for the suspense to become much more of a focal point in future books. Anyway, whichever version you read or listen to, know that if you’re a fan of Lauren Blakeley (just so you know, I am), then you will love this second chance romance featuring sexy, sweet and oh so humble Brent Nichols, who it seems is willing to take responsibility for every one of his actions 10 years ago. He’s well aware that if he wants his girl back, he’s going to have to work for it. Add into the mix the murder committed 18 years previously, and we’ve got a sense of danger in the mix. Absolutely wonderful characters, a great story, and of course perfect writing. What a truly wonderful, entertaining and totally addictive second chance romance. I truly loved it. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review. Post script I’ve just finished the audio and it was perfect, I adored the writing, the characters, and most definitely the story. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to little listen to this new version, because, Joe Arden! Enough said! Oh, and yes Andi Arndt (maybe, just maybe, I’m a little jealous) Enough said. So basically. DNF 47%. No connection with anyone in the book. I did not care if the couple made it or not. Also misunderstanding based on miscommunication or no communication grated my nerves big time. Hero and heroine kept going on about how much they love each other, but at the first sign of issue, they bailed without a word. It annoys me so...So I decided to move on. There are better books right around the corner..

The Sloans have dealt with tragedy, secrets and betrayal. Having been exposed to a darkness that destroyed family and cost them more than they can ever replace. Each has tried to move on. Lauren Blakely writes characters that are complex but haunting. Glad to have had the chance to take in this sexy, complicated and memorable ride.

My Sinful Nights is the first book in Lauren Blakely's revamped Sinful Men series--the POV has changed (from multiple third person to multiple first--mostly the hero and heroine, but some chapters are from other characters' POVs as well) and apparently the stories themselves have also been tweaked--I didn't read the originals, so I can't attest to how much is different; if you're anything like me, though, and you read these when they first came out in 2015, you've probably read so much between now and then that it'll be like a 100% new read anyway. Or that could just be me...sometimes I struggle remembering who series characters are from books I read two months ago. (Or even less, to be totally honest.) There's no such thing as too much reading, amiright? ;) Anyway--My Sinful Nights is a second chance romance between Shannon/Shay and Brent. Their original romance ended ten years earlier; to be honest it ended in one of my least favorite ways--the big misunderstanding. Ms Blakely makes it work, though, because 1) they were only 22 and 2) there were definitely extenuating circumstances (long distance romance, demanding jobs, and honestly, they probably both weren't really ready for a permanent relationship) so their "second chance" isn't too much of a stretch. I started this series backwards, reading the final (and brand new) novella first--because of course I did ;) That book starts with a dedication for a new library, which, as it turns out, is in honor of Shannon's father, who had been murdered when she was 13. All we find out about that in book 5 is that his murder case had been resolved--drama and some danger are hinted at, but nothing more. So I was perfectly safe reading that one and then starting from the beginning. EXCEPT...this book ends with a major cliffhanger for the murdered father plot line, a plot line which is clearly going to continue through the other three Paige/Sloan siblings' books. Which is why I essentially closed my ebook and went right to my Audible account, grabbing book 2 ( My Sinful Desire ) and downloading it into my Escape library. I see what you did there, Ms Blakely. Other than that plot line's cliffhanger, Shannon and Brent's personal story does end in an HEA here. The pacing of it is a little unusual--they actually become more or less settled into their relationship (forgiveness achieved, past moved on from, I love yous exchanged, and a fairly permanent relationship status checked off) when there's still more of the book left than is customary. The last 10+% of the book is free of relationship angst--HEA has been reached, and it feels like a really long epilogue (and since there are actual epilogues--yes, plural--it's doubly odd). Stuff happens, but it doesn't really have any Brent/Shannon relationship implications to speak of. So there's that. Not a game changer, but different. Either way, mission accomplished--because as soon as I've posted this, I'll be back to listening to book 2. Ryan and Sophie, here I come! Rating: 4 stars / B+ I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

When youth, ambition, distance, and a misunderstanding get in the way, they break apart and go their separate ways. Then when life brings them back together 10 years later, they can't deny their love that never died. This time they are older, wiser, and have successful careers, but can they overcome their hurt feelings and pride to start over fresh? Brent Nichols has always regretted not fighting harder for the love of his life, and now that they are working together he will do whatever it takes to prove to her that he is not the same man he was 10 years ago. Shannon Paige-Prince has suffered several heartbreaking events in her life and has built walls to protect herself. She does not want to risk the devastation she endured the last time she lost Brent. But Brent has always been her light in a world that has brought her so much darkness and she needed him to fill the sad places inside her with his light. Brent is sexy, funny, caring and tender but also exquisitely commanding. Shannon is strong, intelligent, kind and loves to give as much as she gets. Together with their fiery passion and combustible chemistry they begin the exploration of who they are now, but is it enough? I love that both Brent and Shannon are not angsty but more mature and approach their opinions and actions accordingly. They are honest and genuine and I found them to be charming, fun and very believable. I fell in love with all of Shannon's family and look forward to reading more about her intriguing brothers. The other secondary characters were wonderful as well and add so much depth along with a bit of mystery and suspense to this story. I loved the narration by Joe Arden, Andi Arndt. They easily bring out the nuances of each character with a perfect balance between fun & flirty, heartbreaking emotion, and sizzling passion. They work so well togetheras they bring this sweet, sexy, and emotional story to life. I also loved the wonderful cameos throughout the book from Maxine Mitchell, Tim Paige, Teddy Hamilton, and Sebastian York! This is a 4 book series that follows different couples but also has a longer story line that has me hooked already. I can't wait for book #2!

It has been ten years since Shannon walked away from the love of her life. Ten years since Brent let her. They were twenty-two, engaged, and living thousands of miles apart. It was easy but they were in love. They really thought it could work but one night changed their fate and now ten years later fate brought them back together. In Vegas to do business together. It was so unexpected in the best ways but it also meant that they needed to talk about their past. Shannon wasn’t sure if she could open her heart up again to him. It was shattered that night and it wasn’t easy getting over him and truth be told, she never really did. Brent’s only regret in life was letting her go. He didn’t fight hard enough and now that he saw her again, he knew he couldn’t let her go again. He knew he had to prove to her that he wasn’t the same man he was ten years ago. He was better and better with her by his side. So slowly, he would get to to know her again and show her that they are meant to be. Body, mind, and soul. But will the past mistake repeat themselves? Will her past before him ruin what they could have in the future? Omg! It felt like a totally new story with the core foundation in tact. I loved it! The connection was elevated. The passion was a slow burn of desire and heat. The story is emotional. Second chances just always get to me and this one was full of laughs, tears, heartbreak, suspense, and love. It was perfection. I can’t wait to get to the next book! Quotes: “You know what else you used to say was perfection?” I asked. He nodded. “I absolutely do.” “Am I a cat to you, Shan?” I laughed, then bit my lip, holding in a chuckle. “Kind of. It’s a good thing. Cats make me happy.” He squared his shoulders. “Compliment accepted, then. Also, meow.” “Watch me. Watch me dance for you,” she said, a filthy twinkle in her eye.

Instead of confronting him and giving him a chance to explain she decided it’s best to end the relationship. Unfortunately, he doesn’t fight for her and they part ways. Ten years later they see each other for the first time again and both find the attraction still there. She wants to be able to trust him but it’s hard because he didn’t fight and she has a secret that she didn’t tell him. He promises that he’s going to find a way to be there for her and prove to her that he wants her. When he finds out the secret that she was keeping he promises her that he will call her but he need some time. Due to her past she has a hard time believing that happiness can exist. The relationship between Shannon and her brothers is one of support and unending love. A family tragedy made so they had to rely on themselves, as well as, reinvent themselves. I was really happy to see that neither one held grudges and trusted the other enough to believe and forgive as fast as they did. There is a little mystery involved when it comes to Shannon’s mom and leaves the reader with a cliffhanger. The writing was excellent and the story was great. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

I’ve heard people saying they encountered this with one of the author’s m/m book as well and is this just the author’s “thing”? Because I don’t love it. Second. This whole story starts off with a huge misunderstanding. The couple is young, in love, and separated separated by almost an entire country and an ocean. The reason they broke it off is because of a misunderstanding that the hero cheated. He didn’t, but she thought he did. And then they didn’t speak again for ten years??? Upside is that during their long breakup, Shannon wasn’t a nun waiting for Brent. So, it is realistic that a young couple has a big misunderstanding because of miscommunication, but I don’t have to like it. I do like that this gets resolved pretty early on in the story, but only because there’s another secret Shannon hasn’t told Brent yet. I love the audiobook narrators but this story just isn’t my thing. I should’ve known four sentences in, really, when Brent says he can’t “write” Mandarin because it’s hard. Well, Brent. That’s true. Because Mandarin is the language that’s SPOKEN. Chinese is the language that’s being written. Something that could’ve been fixed with one Google search... So. Yeah. Not a fan. Not worth listening to even for “free” on Audible Plus. DNF @ chapter 9. Trigger warnings for mentions of finding a parent...murdered?? (it’s unclear so far in the text), parent in prison, and mentions of a miscarriage.

Although My Sinful Nights is a re-working of an older story, it’s one I hadn’t read by Lauren Blakely. The originals are in my TBR list on my kindle. It’s a wonderful start to a 5 part series and is a second chance romance- one of my favorite tropes. Shannon and Brent were more than college sweethearts, they were once engaged, but living thousands of miles apart after graduation had beaten down their relationship, and when Shannon arrived in town to surprise Brent, she got a huge one instead and broke everything off with him. They go their separate ways and try to go on with their lives, but at the back of their minds is always that lingering thought. What if? Ten years later they’re both based in Vegas, and are they’re finally reunited… if only by accident- or was it fate? Shannon is a choreographer and Brent a successful club owner who has hired Shannon’s company unknowing it’s hers. Shannon has past issues and hurts separate from Brent’s failings which causes a lot of angst and heartache for her. Brent wants her back and he’ll do what it takes to make that happen, even if it means facing down her protective brothers. This was a fabulous story. The chemistry between Shannon and Brent was beautiful to behold. It was clear how much they’d loved and missed each other. I was rooting for them from start to finish. Up next, is book 2. My Sinful Desire. Can’t wait to read it.

Lauren Blakely's "My Sinful Nights" had a different style and tone than most of the previous books I've read by Ms. Blakely (it is definitely not a romantic comedy!), but it was well-written and engaging, and I enjoyed it. As details from Shannon's past were slowly revealed, I found it increasingly difficult to put the book down because I wanted to know more about what had happened to her and her family. I knew there had to be more to the story than there seemed to be on the surface. There is a fair amount of darkness and tragedy to this story, but Ms. Blakely's signature humor still managed to shine through in the sweet and playful moments Shannon and Brent shared in between their more serious conversations and romantic encounters. I particularly loved the little gifts Brent and Shannon exchanged because it showed how much they cared about each other, even after so many years apart. They clearly spent a lot of time thinking about each other and found clever ways to show their love through gifts. I also appreciated Brent's efforts to demonstrate to Shannon that he had changed during their separation and would do a better job balancing work and a personal life going forward. Overall, "My Sinful Nights" was a compelling read and I would recommend it for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic suspense. I look forward to reading the next book in the series to find out more about Shannon's brothers and the truth about what happened to their father. *ARC provided by the author via Candi Kane PR. I’ve been wanting to reread My Sweet Sinful Nights for sooo long and then Lauren Blakely reboots the whole series into My Sinful Men with book 1 -My Sinful Night. She read my mind!! Brent owns a nightclub in Las Vegas and is currently planning to expand. Shannon owns a dance choreography company which contracts dancers to perform in his club. Will these two find a way to get past the hurts of their past to find forever love? Absolutely loved this series the first time and this reboot is starting off to be just fantastic. Lots of great dialog, multiple POV’s, sexy hero, beautiful(inside & out) heroine, and some steamy, sexy scenes from the bedroom (just not all IN the bedroom). If you love family, great writing, sexy characters, slight suspense, and most definitely that HEA, then you will love My Sinful Nights by Lauren Blakely. This is book 1 in the My Sinful Men series. The original series had 4 books while this reboot has the 4 stories, a novella has been added to the series(PS-it’s good too). I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 5 stars*****

My Sinful Night , book one of the Sinful Men series, is a little different from the usual light-hearted rom-com that Lauren Blakely is famous for. The pace of the story was on the slow side where the the story focused on how they worked hard to right their wrongs and they both put in the extra effort to make this time around last. The side story of Shan's father's murder was mysterious and suspenseful. New evidence was presented at the end of the book and this side story would continue onto the next book. I was intrigued and planned to continue on with the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Unlike her romcoms, Lauren Blakely's My Sinful Nights is a heartfelt start to her newly reworked Sinful Men series. 10 years have gone by, and Brent is still in love with Shannon. Things had gone all wrong. But now, a chance to work through the misunderstandings and problems that occurred, and he will not let it pass by. Shannon is not interested in a second chance. Or is she? Brent is relentless though and we can only hope that he can win her over. Lauren Blakely has given this story a refreshing update, it's own second chance if you will and come up with a winner. Her characters always intrigue me. We have Brent who is impossible not to love. And we have Shannon who is full of misconceptions and misunderstandings. I love the way these two interact, adding their little gifts to the mix, showing just what a small gesture can mean. It's a great start to the series, with a little crazy family interaction, a little mystery and a lot of love. Add in Blakely's uncanny ability to cast her characters, and we have a winner. Joe Arden and Andi Arndt are always phenomenal. They can easily match their characters' personalities and make them seem real. Then we add in the guests, like Maxine Mitchell, Samantha Cook and Teddy Hamilton and it's like coming to a party with all our favorites!

Amazing second-chance romance! It takes real talent to write such believable characters that you can see each side and write them so the reader, even knowing why the characters do what they do, still sympathizes with each one's choices. I swooned for Brent, cried with Shannon, and cheered them both when they realized that they hadn't lost everything. All the raw emotional intensity they couldn't deny powered them through the necessary steps in charting their future together, and it was a beautiful, brilliant story to read. And the drive-thru - what a perfectly spontaneous, yet long-awaited event! We really get to know all of Shannon's family in this book, and it's clear that the mystery surrounding their parents is going to be played out in the subsequent books that focus on each of her brother's romances. I'm looking forward to reading each one. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

My Sinful Nights is a sexy second chance romance by Lauren Blakely that's actually a little more angsty and most of her other work. I am always on the fence about second chance romance because I hold grudges like a champ, but this one was written in a way that really didn't lay the blame on just one person and it wasn't unforgivable. Brent and Shannon were college sweethearts that ended when the long distance took a toll on them, now 10 years later they run into each other at a business meeting. Once the two reconnect the attraction and chemistry is there in full force! It was weird to think that everything went from a nonexistent relationship to full force in the span of a couple days but really, it was 10 years in the making and it felt completely natural when reading it. The romance aspect was everything that I have come to expect from Lauren Blakely... characters that I love, deep connection, instant chemistry and of course plenty of hot and steamy moments! This series has a touch of mystery to it that I can't wait to uncover though. Shannon's family past was introduced in this one and there were many hints that everything wasn't what it seemed so I am eager to read the other books of the series to find out the truth of what happened to her dad!

She is stunned when Brent walks back into her life. I loved that they were mature and ready for each other and would stop at nothing to not make the same mistakes they did in their youth. There is so much more to learn about Shannon’s brothers, and the truth about what happened to their father. I am looking forward to Ryan’s story in My Sinful Desire next! The audio is narrated by Joe Arden & Andi Arndt. As usual these narrators were perfectly cast. Joe’s sinfully sexy voice plays the perfect Brent and Andi’s sweet voice played the perfect Shannon. The special appearances by Maxine Mitchell, Teddy Hamilton, Sebastian York Samantha Cooke and Tim Paige were amazing. Lauren Blakely does an audio cast like no other. Perfectly done!

I hadn't previously read the first version of this series but I'm certainly happy I get to experience it this time. I really enjoyed what I just finished. Brent was kind of impossible not to love. Even with the way things happened in the past, I couldn't blame him or dislike him. It just felt like a case of bad timing. I really felt like the love between these two characters was clear. It just took them a decade to get on the same page. I also loved that while they were apart they both did things for themselves instead of being frozen in place because of their heartbreak. They really grew during that time and I think it made them more ready for each other the second time around. I loved the mystery that was thrown into this story as well as the family dynamics too. I look forward to reading more about this family soon.
