Antonio ‘Tony’ Neves has possibly written the least annoying self-help book I have read in a long time. He is sincerely positive and really wants to help by sharing what he has learned by his experiences and more. He speaks to you in ‘plain talk’ with just a few ‘self-help’ catch phrases we have all heard before. He levels with you, no ‘B.S.,’ because he’s been there before too. He knows exactly what you’re going to say and what your excuses will be. The honesty is so refreshing! He knows exactly what you’re going to say and what your excuses will be. The honesty is so refreshing! Yes, he is a ‘Success Coach,’ and he has a Podcast: “The Best Thing” but he lives it and means it. Believe me, I am one of the most cynical people on the planet when it comes to this topic, and he’s sold me! I have zero to gain from giving this book a good review except the opportunity of having read it before its final publication, and finally getting motivated to get off my coach during this Global Pandemic! Tony leads you through his book by simply ‘getting started’ and takes you through various steps with short ‘quizzes’ of five questions you ask yourself, there are no right or wrong answers; sometimes you compare what you’re doing in your life now, to say five or ten years ago. OR, when you thought you were the happiest, or most successful, or whatever your parameters might be. Trust me, he does it better than I’m trying to explain it. One of the final things he leaves you with is: ‘TOP 5 Things To Do (in some shape or form) on A Daily Basis. Learn: Listen to a Podcast, Audiobook; read a book, take an online class, once a month. Sweat: Move, at least 5-10 minutes a day. Eat: Track what you eat for just a week, to see if you’re eating as well as you think you are. Meditate: He was a skeptic; I was a skeptic. Research has overwhelmingly proven even 5-10 minutes of quiet time can decrease anxiety and stress. Connect: Human interaction is key to life, preferably in person, when we can, or at least a phone call so we can hear each other’s voices. Journal: Write a thought or two on the day or fill the page if you choose. ‘A brain dump is detox for the mind.’ Note: The comments on the Top Five things are my paraphrasing from Tony’s words. Wherever you are in your life, I really believe this book is worth reading. We all need a push or gentle nudge occasionally so let this sincere, positive person help you too. Thank you to Netgalley, Rodale Books and Penguin Random House, and Antonio Neves

Not going to lie- I was expecting "another self-help book" telling me to do more and be more. This book took me for a spin I wasn't expecting! Antonio is honest, real and raw about his path in a way that makes you want to go deep into yours. This book gently pushed me out of my funk and opened my eyes to my future ahead. I highly recommend it! Not going to lie- I was expecting "another self-help book" telling me to do more and be more. This book took me for a spin I wasn't expecting! This book came to me at a time when I needed it most during this crazy pandemic world we are living in right now. I will be reading this book many times and trying to implement some of Antonio's ideas to help turn my outlook around. I've spoken with and interviewed Antonio Neves numerous times over the past years, and every single time, I feel moved to look more deeply at my own life and strip away even more of what is keeping me from living and work as I absolutely want to. His new book helps us all do the same. With his mix of powerful stories, revelations and insights, as well as effective strategies and tips for moving forward in a way unlike anything you've done before, you'll be mentally inspired, but better yet, moti I've spoken with and interviewed Antonio Neves numerous times over the past years, and every single time, I feel moved to look more deeply at my own life and strip away even more of what is keeping me from living and work as I absolutely want to. This is a great time to read this book in a pandemic because our lives are stuck but due to us personally. Life can be very hard at times, you lose people you love, you grieve, you move forward. Maybe it is just in his nature, or perhaps his background as an award-winning journalist, but one thing you can always anticipate from anything that Antonio Neves touches is a cold hard look at the truth. In finding himself, through the many facets, ebbs and flows of life, family and career, Tony undoubtedly has experienced it all, which has always given him the type of empathy and compassion to pull out the best in people - their truth. Antonio Neves speaks with his usual authenticity and heart-felt, hard-won wisdom in "Stop Living on Autopilot" -- and his message couldn't arrive at a more critical moment. During the current pandemic and massive global economic recession, many of us are faced with a sense of malaise. The glowing external reality we present on social media often doesn't match the inner voice that's saying we suck or we should just give up on our life goals. I can’t imagine a bad time to read this book but right now just happens to be ideal. At least it is for me. Both challenging and comforting, every page is dripping with honesty, courage, vulnerability and actionable wisdom, no platitudes. It forces you to ask yourself the hard questions but according to what I just learned from Stop Living on Autopilot, that’s our only chance of finding new answers. It is normal in life to reach low points, feel stuck, or get in a rut from time to time. In Stop Living On Autopilot, Antonio Neves reminds us that it’s okay to experience these hiccups, but not to live there. The book positively challenges us to endorse ourselves, leave excuses in the dust, get out of the funk we’re in, and follow our dreams.

If you are looking for the perfect book to provide some inspiration to improve your life, this is it! I particularly enjoyed Antonio's openness and willingness to share his own struggles while encouraging the reader to work on themselves at the same time. Stop Living On Autopilot provides authentic, powerful and engaging frameworks and strategies to help people realize that their circumstances in life are much less significant than their responses to them. Antonio’s direct approach to personal development will help people change the way they think and accomplish great things.

Basically an autobiography of how much the author has overcome. Seems like an advertisement for his business speaking to high school or college kids. Long winded and with little message beyond be yourself.
