What do you get when you combine a prepper, government conspiracy, double-cross, and a Coronal Mass Ejection? Well, you get the basis for a very good post-apocalyptic story that is delivered in installments. Based on the first installment one should expect plenty of action as well as some prepper discussion that lends quite a bit to the plausibility of this story line. I received the first installment from a Bookfunnel give away and am now looking forward to reading the second installment. What engaged me: • The author caught my attention right from the beginning and drew me into the story with the opening scene with Blake. • The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. I felt I was a part of the scenes with Blake, Kris, and Tucker. • The pacing of the story was neither too slow nor too fast. • There was a smooth, coherent flow to this book. • This story had a satisfying ending and was a great start for the rest of the series. • This was a c What engaged me: • The author caught my attention right from the beginning and drew me into the story with the opening scene with Blake. • The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. This is a fairly short book and nice that it doesn't have a lot of editing issues. The story of the distant dad, plucky wife and capable kid caught in the apocalypse has generally been done before. There is a hint of conspiracy which may end up being interesting. The frequent reference to "mercy" became a bit wearing but I guess one person's luck is another's mercy. I wish this was not so short because it is hard to get invested in such a brief tale, but I will likely read book 2 to see what hap This is a fairly short book and nice that it doesn't have a lot of editing issues. Hard to find an author that doesn't go for the shoot'em up bang, bang easy way of thinking. There will be a lot more to the end of life as we know it than just gun's and bullets. So far not a shot has been fired...just skill and preparation. Can't wait to read part 2.....UPDATE.. Just finished reading the series WOW..you won't be disappointed. I loved this book and am anxiously waiting for the next installment! The story follows the ups and downs of one prepper’s actions after a disastrous event affects everyone. The family helps others along the way and finally have reached their home, hunkered down in their well stocked bunker. What challenges come next?

I really like this book. Can't wait to read the next book in the series. Tucker is six years old, but his father taught him to be a prepper. He has is all together as his mom and him go in search of his father. Of course, there are some things you just can't prepare for. Follow this new series of DC Little's and see if there are things we might need to prepare for. I really like this book. Can't wait to read the next book in the series. Very pleased I’m so glad Amazon suggested this author. She is new to me but her writing is refreshing with little to no bad language or violence. A rue story of family love in the midst of natural disaster! Looking forward to the next book!

This is my first book of 2021 and it is very intense for a novella. It’s the first installment of this series and it’s three MCs are strong and likable with human frailties. I enjoyed it very much and plan to read the next in the series soon. Disclaimer: I received a copy of this ebook from My Book Cave and this is my honest and freely given opinion.

A great book about CME (coronal mass ejections)that wipes out our current lifestyle. It is a book that is a survivalist in nature that is well written and brings out just how impotent we are against nature by ourselves or even in groups! I read this and I throughly did enjoy.

Quick, fast, meaty. I wasn't sure what to expect from a post-apocalyptic serial novel. It was good. I immediately read the next two before realizing I really should call it a night. Wow .. this is a new spin on a apocalypse scenario and is much more believable which pulls you into the book. This family is one that you can hope survives all the ups and downs that we know is coming their way. The author really writes in a way that leaves you hanging on every word. I personally enjoyed every second and am starting the next book as soon as I finish typing how good this story is.

As the United States government shelters its leaders and slaughters security personnel who know too much, Blake’s former boss, Governor Dutton, surreptitiously warns him that an apocalyptic event is imminent. Armed with that news, the undercover agent rushes home to his less-than-welcoming wife, Kris, and their six-year-old son, Tucker. Having been gone for a year on yet another assignment has taken a toll on his marriage, but his sense of responsibility to his family never flags— their motto is “we always return to each other.” Meanwhile, Kris is called to pick up a homesick Tucker from a sleepover, and during the short ride, she sees colors streaking across the sky. She quashes her uneasiness until her car dies and then explodes as they’re on their way back home. And so begins Grant Me Mercy, the first installment of a post-apocalyptic novel of how a CME, or Coronal Mass Ejection, wreaks havoc in a small American town. Many residents refuse to believe a world-changing event has happened. Blake knows better and tries, with little success, to convince them to leave as a fire caused by an exploded tractor-trailer approaches their neighborhood. He, Kris, and Tucker continue their hike home, praying their bunker and its ample cache of supplies is still there. D.C. Little takes readers on a harrowing journey of only a few miles to demonstrate how fast modern society falls apart in the wake of a disaster. This first serial installment promises more haunting tales of a post-apocalyptic world.
