After a long hiatus, caused by several library books with short deadlines arriving back to back, I finished this book. I enjoyed it, but aside from the main characters and their backgrounds, it was a fairly typical Christmas romance.

Add a bit of intrigue and mystery as well as a town devoted to Christmas and you couldn't ask for more. This is not a new author for me. I have read many books by Alissa Callen and enjoyed them all. Her talent for telling a story AND engaging the reader is one of my favorite aspects of her writing. I will definitely keep coming back for more. Aggie and Mason..... Aggie was a very relatable character to me. I loved everything about her. Everything! Of the dozens of books I've read this year (over 200 actually) she is the first heroine I remember. Not because this is a recent read, but because she reminded me so much of myself, of my aspirations, and love of all things Christmas. Throw in an intriguing, handsome hero and a town that goes above and beyond with Christmas decorating and special events, and I couldn't be happier. Aggie is going through a rough time with finances, hoping the holiday shopping season will be a prosperous one. Since her mother passed away, Aggie is only focused on keeping her mother’s dream alive, hence keeping the knitting store open. Hey, if the shop closes, where will everyone in town buy their Ugly Christmas sweaters? ;) Mason, is determined to solve a mystery. Before his mother died, she loaned money to a company in Last Stand, Texas years ago. Who is this company and why did his mom loan her personal finances out? Mason is somewhat of a Grinch. Since he lost his mother, his Christmas spirit went along with her. I'll admit, mason was not an easy nut to crack. For the most part, Mason was a polite grump, lol. Aggie saw something inside of him. Something deep down that convinced her he was hurting. As much as Mason was determined to discover who the mysterious company was, Aggie was just as determined to help Mason believe in the spirit of Christmas. Last Stand, Texas was the perfect place to help her do that. The interactions between these two were fun to watch. The development of their characters and of their relationship was believable and sincere. All through the book, I wondered about the mystery of the loan and how these two could make a relationship work when they lived states apart. You'll just have to read to find out. I truly loved the premise of this book, the characters and how everything tied together for a beautiful ending. This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

Can a woman determined to spread Christmas joy and a man resistant to emotion and all things mistletoe, create their own Christmas miracle? This is Aggie Harper and Mason Firth's story. Aggie Harper didn’t know what she’d done. All she knew was that for such bad luck to have found her, a buzzard’s shadow must have crossed her path, she’d walked under a ladder, and she’d pointed at a Texas headstone. Conscious that she stood on a very public street of a very curious town with her hands planted on her hips and her expression resembling a thundercloud, she took a deep breath. But even as air stole into her lungs and flicked her internal switch to calm and composed, the enormity of the disaster in front of her didn’t diminish. The crack curving across the glass of the store window to the left of the doorway didn’t appear a big deal. Parts of the break weren’t any thicker than a strand of silk knitting yarn. The damage was immense. Mason arrives in Last Stand with nowhere to stay. It is leading up to Christmas and the town is super decorated. He avoids any decorations or activities linked to the holidays. He goes to the saloon for a drink and talks with the bartender Klaus who gives him a lead for a place to stay. Aggie runs a Yarn and Knitting Store with a semi ready apartment above. Klaus sent him to rent the apartment. She does agree to rent it. Aggie finds she likes having Mason there. I received this arc in exchange for an honest review. Alissa Callen’s Book was just wonderful to read. I loved the underlying mystery in the book and especially loved when it was revealed. This is the story of Mason Firth and Aggie Harper. Both are workaholics and avoided relationships. After Mason’s mother died, he put everything into his work. He worked in the family business, with his father throwing all sorts of things his way to handle, although his father was theoretically retired. Mason finds an unpaid loan his mother made to a business or person in a place called Last Stand Texas. He knows his mother was from Oregon so some digging found she was born in Last Stand. The latest payment was late and he decides he wants to learn what this is all about. His mother had been having Christmas presents delivered each year to him and his father for years after she died. He had no idea who was sending them. He learned that this was the last one in her note. As a result he’s avoided anything holiday related. Mason arrives in Last Stand with nowhere to stay. It is leading up to Christmas and the town is super decorated. He avoids any decorations or activities linked to the holidays. He goes to the saloon for a drink and talks with the bartender Klaus who gives him a lead for a place to stay. She does agree to rent it. Aggie finds she likes having Mason there. He doesn’t tell her or anyone right away what he’s looking for. Aggie starts to include him with her friends and they do the same. His father calls constantly to find out if he’s learned anything about the loan. He finally asks Klaus if he know of the company the loan is from and he promises to look into it. I love how Mason and Aggie start to come out of their shells and start to warm up to the other. She shares her holiday spirit with him and he becomes more willing to participate in the various town events. The story portrays such a wonderful place to celebrate the holidays and all the characters seem like people it would be fun to be with. I just loved this book and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Most of what you’d really need to know up front is in the Cover Description. But that doesn’t really prepare you for the emotions that run from one end of the charts to the other. Both Aggie and Mason have faced the pain of their mothers’ deaths. Mason hasn’t moved on very much since his mom’s passing. Each Christmas she’s still (by some unknown helper) sending gifts which are both a blessing and a reminder of his loss. But this year he’s found something even more puzzling that will take him to Last Stand, Texas to solve a bit of a mystery and give him some much-needed answers. He wasn’t prepared to find his future in this small town in the form of one lovely lady who sells, of all things, ugly Christmas sweaters. I loved Mason, even if he is a true grumpy grouch who discovers the magic of Christmas through Aggie and the Christmas celebrations all around Last Stand. Aggie is trying to hold on to her mother’s dream, not really sure if it’s her dream anymore but she’ll do everything in her power to save her inherited knitting shop – and those infamous ugly Christmas sweaters. Mason and Aggie have such a connection that I had no trouble seeing them as a forever couple. I loved the secondary characters that make up this town, as this story come to life. With a puzzle to solve, a store to save, and maybe, finally, a Christmas to remember for a lifetime Aggie’s and Mason’s story hit all the “loved it” buttons for me and I would not hesitate one second to recommend this story to any Romance reader. *I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Tule Publishing. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Mason's Mom has been gone for 15 years and Mason and his Father still receive Christmas gifts from her every year along with a card in her handwriting. They are not sure where they are coming from because where the postage stamp is has been blacked out so they can't see it. Mason fears each year that this will be the last present from his Mom but he isn't ready to let go yet. He still misses her as much now as he did then. He dreads Christmas without her. This is when he meets Klaus at the Saloon and Klaus tells him since the Bed and breakfast are totally book he knows of an apartment over the top of a store that sells ugly Christmas sweaters. Mason goes there to rent the apartment for two weeks and meets Aggie. A truly amazing love story. Some would say even a Magical one.

With the glitter of Christmas lights and all the usual Christmas celebration this is a light and entertaining book to read and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

Mason hates the Christmas season since the passing of his mother. Finding the unpaid loan papers sent him on a journey to a little town called Last Stand. For him, he was thinking it would be simple go there find out who it was and what his mother’s connection to it was. I loved this book and I adored Aggie who was such a strong and fiercely independent woman who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and yet was so soft and loving.
