Ended with a bang Wow, this was excellent. I love the new character Daluh The books so far have completely kept my attention, there interesting, with some twists on vampires. Actually they aren’t called vampires in this book, but descendants of Gods. There are two rival fractions that have been at war for thousands of years. This book really left off on a bang, so I’m off to get the next book, it’s getting even more interesting.

In this next set of three, the romance between Dalhu and Amanda takes center stage while a continuing backstory and complex, interesting and significant world-building connect the two pairs of lovers. There is a bit of legend-dumping at the beginning that I wish had been integrated into the book, but the action picks up right where book three ended with the abduction of Amanda by the nefarious dark enemy, Dalhu. Dalhu is a bad guy who has done bad things. It is apparent his past deeds are going to haunt any kind of future he and Amanda will have. We witnessed some of those horrible acts in the first three stories, but there were also hints of a conscience and possibility for enlightenment. Dalhu might be a salvageable Doomer. However, the hatred between the Doomers and Amanda's clan has blossomed for centuries. It will not be easy to overcome. Plus, Lucas teases us with another scrumptious and worthy warrior setting his sights on the lovely Amanda. Where will it all go? Be prepared to not find out in this book, but to pick up #5 as soon as possible. Lucas connects ancient legends to current events in interesting ways. There are several overtly political statements incorporated, which I find rare for an urban fantasy/paranormal novel. The Doomers are obviously Muslim extremists wrapped in immortal clothing. "Someone like her [Amanda] would be probably stoned to death in the part of the world they controlled." Plot motivations seem ripped straight out of the headlines, or maybe a FOX newscast.

I had to stop at this book in the series. While the idea of the story was interesting I got tired of skimming through half of each book so far. To much repetitive information and way too much inner dialog that bored me to death. This whole series could probably have been written in one book without all the filler.

I mean, really? He has crazy fits of rage and is fanatically obsessed with her because she is an immortal female. He literally could’ve kidnapped ANY immortal female and he’d have pledged his undying love to her because he’s desperate for his perfect fantasy life. And Amanda just goes with it. Like, “oh, he’s so sweet! I heart him!” Are you shitting me? It’s absurd. There is NO legitimate development for her feelings for him. It’s basically just “he’s hot, I’m horny, he said a couple things that were kinda sweet, I guess I love him.” Gag me. I’m done with this garbage “series.” Can’t read anymore of them.

March 2019 2 Stars - It was ok Audiobook Ok, I think I'm done. The books are short, but they're boring. The author probably could have combined all of the books, cut out the fluff, and made 1 good book. The books are not getting better, are actually getting slightly worse, and I'm tired of the slut shaming. My Kindle shows the word slut used 9 times and the word whore used another 6 times. And that is just this 4th book. I'm done. I don't care about the ending enough to keep on with the series.

Book four in the Children of the Gods series begins where book three ends, with Amanda's abduction by Dalhu. Amanda and Dalhu are near immortals, and their respective clans are at war with each other. Both clans originate from the mythological gods and had been at war since antiquity, when the God Mordth, the God the Doomers worship, had been spurned by the goddess Annani, the matriarch of Kian's clan. He had sworn himself as well as his descendants to wipe out Annani together with her descendants, and to obliterate the gods' matriarchal tradition of a woman's right to choose her mate. The Doomers adhere to his hateful patriarchal legacy, and to keep human society at large from achieving democracy and enlightenment they manipulate global affairs and instigate wars. Dalhu's sees his chance encounter with Amanda, the immortal female he's fascinated with, as fated and doesn't hesitate to jump on the opportunity. At long last his dream of having an immortal mate comes true, and it doesn't matter that she wants no part in it. He is going to do his damnedest to win her over. Dalhu's efforts are working and Amanda is softening toward him. She finds the tall and handsome Doomer hard to resist. But their Romeo and Juliet story has more problems than the hatred between their clans. Amanda is a professor of neuroscience while Dalhu is an uneducated mercenary, she is rich and used to luxury while he has limited resources and no real job skills aside from being a killer for hire. But the biggest obstacle, one that Amanda doesn't realize yet , is that Dalhu is responsible for her nephew's Mark murder. In this forth installment, the character development focuses mainly on Amanda and Dalhu, and to a lesser degree on Syssi's brother Andrew, who has his eye on Amanda as well. Kian and Syssi continue to have a big role in the story, and we learn more about Kian's darker side. I love that aside from the new villain, who unlike Dalhu seems to have no redeeming qualities, none of the characters are black and white. They are all flawed to some degree which makes them more real to me. The world building continues with light shed on the Brotherhood's nefarious plans. My biggest complaint is that I have no choice but to wait patiently for book five to come out.

Good concept The story line by itself is unique and I wanted to know more. My problem is that I read fantasy to escape politics and the real world. The author definitely has strongly expressed opinions in this book. Regardless of whether my views coincide with the author’s or not... I do not want to be reminded of the real world that I’m reading to momentarily escape.

Lucas Series Summary: From the beginning of time there have been near immortal beings who have molded humanity, been the object of worship but who as a race almost destroyed each other and human civilization. Now only two Gods are left both sworn enemies: The followers of Morta, the Doomers and the descendants of the Goddess Annani. Lucas continues her unique addicting series with Amanda and Dalhu’s obstacle filled love story. It’s intense and at times dark but she always instills enough light for hope. Her dialogue is fast paced and her plot is engaging and interesting giving a freshness to this often stale genre. Her world building is unique and her characters may be ancient but surround themselves with all the 21st century gadgets plus her hints to future stories will lure readers (well this reader anyway) into purchasing the next set of books in the series. Books 4 through 6 are Amanda and Dalhu’s story and must be read in order. In these installations readers will learn more about the history of these two remaining clans of immortals, will get more intimate with the Goddess and her family and will eventually get hints about what’s to come. The audible edition is once again left in the capable voice of Charles Lawrence’s deep, sexy, satisfying baritone who expertly gives readers a deeper experience by intoning the emotions vocally and does a fantastic job portraying each and every character, human, immortal, male and female. SUMMARY: Amanda is the daughter of the last remaining female deity, Annani descendant from a race who ages ago were almost eradicated by civil war. She’s the youngest and for centuries has been known as the “party princess” but has redeemed herself lately when she became a scientist with the sole purpose of finding dormant immortals and save her race by providing them with mates. When she’s abducted by a member of her clan’s mortal enemy, the doomers, she’s afraid of death or worse. But that’s not what her captor has in mind at all. Dalhu has long known the doomers philosophy is wrong and when he sees the photograph of a female immortal of his clan’s enemy he’s smitten. When he sees her in person he knows she’s his destiny. Now only if he can figure a way to keep her.

Eh. So, this series has been pretty good up to this book. This book kind of went off the rails. The author can't decide where to go with particular characters, so she demolishes her hard work in character development by having them behave in ways they wouldn't have previously. A character gradually changing with motivation? Okay. A character doing a 180 for no reason? That's lazy writing, IMO. The plot is starting to unravel a little, as well, because the author is pushing her own politics a bit Eh. So, this series has been pretty good up to this book. This book kind of went off the rails. The plot is starting to unravel a little, as well, because the author is pushing her own politics a bit, and I came for romance, not a defense of capitalism. I'm going to read the next one to see if it picks up, but I admit I'm only chancing it because I got it from Kindle Unlimited. No way I'd risk my money on it, and if I'd paid for this book, I'd be disappointed right now.

I understand why Dalhu "speaks" and thinks the way he does but some of his language is offensive. He does develop somewhat nicely and he is a very interesting character. Amanda also somewhat develops and becomes more than a two dimensional character - that is how I viewed her previously. Andrew and Kian - I liked their supporting roles even if I think they are both full of crap sometimes.

Professer Amanda, is kidnapped by an enemy agent 'Doomer', Dalhu, who after 900 years of his own servitude to a cause he doesn't believe in, takes the opportunity to steal the one thing he would never have access to... An immortal woman. However, this is a story that has been building for the last several books. When Amanda is faced with Dalhu and is forced to come to terms with her new encarceration, she also has to face the fact that the Doomer before her is not who she expected, but maybe everything she needs. Syssi's brother, Andrew, ends up in the mix when Amanda goes missing, working with Kian to find Amanda and bring her safely home and preferably into his arms. Drama insues as every one has they own agenda. This book is from multiple points of view, so can be a little clunky but ultimately it works. Like books one to three this book ends with another cliffhanger. I find that incredibly frustrating. Make sure you have access to the full collection as otherwise you are going to be left wanting more and/or be seriously disappointed.

Amanda's waterloo. I found this to be a better than the first trilogy. I.T.Lucas shows an understanding of the world and it's politics. Introducing Dalhu, a despised Doomer, is brilliant. Better. My favourite so far in the series. There was a fair bit of repetition from previous books, which I was kind of surprised by, since I thought you had to read all books in order. But actually, this one was written in a way that you could start the series with this book and not miss anything important (in my opinion). I liked both the main characters of this book. Dahlu is such a sweetheart - despite the anger management issues. Amanda is a much better heroine than that annoying Syssy too.

To Dark Enemy : Taken (The Children of The Gods Paranormal Romance Series) by I.T.. Lucas Dark Enemy. did not whole my attention like Kian and Syssi too many voices. Amanda was a little to whiny and immature to be so smart. I kind of liked Dalhu but I'm not sure that a relationship could work between mortal enemies. The questions are will Andrew turn , will Kian forgive Amanda and if the Dimmers will track down the clan and kill them. Interesting . This series is for mature reader's.

Easier read.. Tho you aren't told upfront that you should read ALL of this 28+ book series, it definitely helps! The books are grouped in 3's, so you could read the last book of a section. Then start the next "new" sequence with a bit of an understanding.... Nope, won't work! I waited a couple weeks between books 3 and 4, and I almost wanted to go back and at least reread the last couple chapters of the previous book! Hope you have Kindle Unlimited! I had some crazy expectations due to the title and length of the book that there would be some betrayal, Amanda would develop some skills, capture by the Doomers, and then a detailed action packed rescue. Instead it was a "get to know the softer side of the enemy" book. S still...I plan to read the next one.

Yeah, yeah, yeah Whatever....Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky were consenting adults, so stop acting like Bill Clinton raped Monica. She knew Bill Clinton was married, still Monica pursued him. Really tired of people using Bill Clinton is a villain. But to read this book and the character Amanda use Bill Clinton's name, well that's rich since Amanda is an over-pampered floozy, but.....she's wealthy and goes to high priced clubs just to get her freak on....ha ha ha ha.

This series gets better with every book. Several new characters are introduced. We get a look into the Doomers camp and plans. I love the way these books are written. The different POV's with just one timeline. Dalhu seems to have gotten out from under the brainwashing. Amanda is playing with fire. These two are like oil and water, but their chemistry is off the charts HOT!! I am excited to see where they will go next!

Captive to her heart The male doomed who takes Amanda wants to have a family, he takes care of her and doesn't force anything on her, he wants to create a relationship. The rescue team thinks she has Stockholm syndrome and will be alright after it all sinks in but Amanda is sure she has real feelings for her family's enemy.

The sexy kidnapper !! Dalhu has been raised to hate and kill. But ,,,he has dreams to fall in love and be respected. He's not a brainwashed solider , that's been taught to hate and kill the other side of the God's children. He's kidnapped Amanda and wants to win her heart. Both have never been with another immortal. Oh,,,, it gets very interesting......

Dark Enemy This episode took a turn. Amanda is a force to be reckoned with. This female immortal has many wiles, and her capter has fallen for them all. During her short captivity Amanda has started to fall for him too. Now, however she has an enemy's romantic interest and a Dormants interest. Quite the love triangle. Which one will she choose? On to book 5 to find out.
