Magic was a curse bubbling beneath the skin waiting to be unleashed. Araceli has never wanted for anything. She threw away silk dresses like rotted food. Jewels were mere bobbles, and her education a waste of time. Araceli had everything she could ever want. But all her wealth could not save her from condemnation. In Malrea, to be a witch was punishable by death. Everyone kn Magic was a curse bubbling beneath the skin waiting to be unleashed. Araceli has never wanted for anything. I liked the idea of this book a lot - it's unique and interesting. However, I couldn't quite get into it because there was excessive use of "big" words and run-on sentences when there didn't need to be. Sometimes, using simpler words gets the point across BETTER to the reader. There's also some grammatical errors like lack of commas and sentences that don't quite make sense. Overall, this book has GREAT potential - it's really interesting stuff and the cover is beautiful. But the writing itself I liked the idea of this book a lot - it's unique and interesting. A good start to a new fantasy series. It jumped around a bit and was somewhat confusing but I'm looking forward the next book. Would recommend. A good start to a new fantasy series. It jumped around a bit and was somewhat confusing but I'm looking forward the next book. Would recommend.

So far I’m really enjoying this book. It did start a bit slow for me . Now it is picking up. I’ll keep you updated . UPDATE: I’ve finished the book. I like the story line and where it is headed. Things I didn’t enjoy were the reintroduction of characters. It is not like it is a second book in the series and we need to be reminded of who is who. So is this going to be foreshadowing for things to come? Adding so many characters that they will have to be reintroduced?

This book was received from a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for a review. In my humble opinion, the beginning was a bit slow, redundant and seemed to jump back and forth. However, once Araceli began her journey, I was drawn in. I am waiting to see if the next installment follows my expectations.
