This is the fourth in a series but since I haven’t read the other three stories and it didn’t seem to make for any confusion I would say I considered it more of a stand alone. Looking for a Christmas read that takes place in the Caribbean away from Winter and all that snow? Well, this is one fun and sexy, very sexy, hot hot sexy read, and if that is what you are looking for then this is the book for you. Well, this is one fun and sexy, very sexy, hot hot sexy read, and if that is what you are looking for then this is the book for you. Actually it’s the novella for you since it’s a bit short, maybe too short, but filled with a good storyline and very, very sexy protagonists. Picture Virginia born Burke, brand new captain of his own catamaran, discovering at the last minute that he has lost his only crewman/cook to a long dreamed of adventure in Australia. Then said crewman supplies him with his own granddaughter as a replacement. Picture tall, beautiful, sexy, and Hawaiian and you have Burke’s replacement crewman who cooks like and looks like a dream but gets very, very seasick and now you have the idea. This was a cute, sexy and very quick read. I won this book in a First Reads giveaway. Thak you to Kensington Publishing Corp.and the author Donna Kauffman.

I was disappointed with my first Kaufmann book. First off it was marketed as a Christmas romance. It is definitely not a Christmas themed story if you just threw the "Christmas" word 4 times. The story is quite simple with two strangers meeting and within hours can't get their hands off each other. Are Kaufmann novels usually like this? One long foreplay narrative, slutty sex scenes passed off as romance that ends in a supposed engagement just won't cut it. I was disappointed with my first Kaufmann book. I wanted to like this more than I did. The whole novella was basically one long sex scene that started a few hours after the met. Worse, he was her boss. Which seemed wrong to me. I was hoping for a sweet Christmas rad and was sorely disappointed. (I won a free copy of this book on Goodreads.)

Short and sweet I haven’t read any other companion books so I felt like I was missing lots of back-story. Sultry cooking on the seas.
