Well well well, THE book to end the year. The world of comics is vast and I was glad to learn a bit about a section that’s not spoken out much. If anyone wants to read this looking for porn, it’s the wrong book to pick. Yes it has few cutouts from various comics but I would hardly call it porn. Every one has exposed themselves to erotic comics at one point of life. Everyone enjoyed them in secret but not many has taken the attempt to find out the history of it. Every one has exposed themselves to erotic comics at one point of life. Everyone enjoyed them in secret but not many has taken the attempt to find out the history of it. Maybe it started with a caveman who drew oversized boobs on a cave or a woman drawing some bollocks on a tree stump, who knows.. somehow it lived on and developed. The first time I came across erotic comics was the Heavy Metal magazine. Not on top shape, old mags but the drawings were amazing. When I read about how the mag started, it brought me back memories of giggles and laughs of a bunch of 16 year old girls and me getting labeled as a weirdo for admiring the fine lines and shadings. I haven’t read the first volume but I think it must be equally good. I enjoyed reading the sections about how the cartoonists and comic artists created these comics one after the other. Specially the early years, the late 60s, 70s, the struggles they had and how underrated they were. I was fascinated to learn most of these artists went on to create comics we all loved as kids and as adults. Most of these artists heavily contributed to Marvel & DC. The book is divided into sections depending on the type of sexuality or erotica or whatever you call it. I quite enjoyed the section on Hentai, I think Hentai remains THE most vivid comics to this date. With this book I mark the end of an equally interesting year. here's a toast for a bookish 2021. Book #71 of 2020/i>

This book was a good continuation of the last one. I saw one description saying it wasn't a good enought critique of the work but I feel that they did critique the work as well as giving a fairly good across the board understanding of the amou t and types of comics available in the genre. However I will say don't go in expecting a porn comic when you read this. Although it has images from the various comics discussed within its more to showcase the art style than to titillate. I've never seen so much incredible art in one place like this book. Stunning drawings, good coverage of sex styles and types. As a purely heterosexual woman, Tom of Finland's drawings left me speechless. I recommend this to ll my friends who appreciate good art, especially found in such an intensely personal and usually secretive area as sex and pleasure.
