Everly Winterfell is almost invisible, blending into the crowd is fine by her. She's a hero too, not the kind who wears a cape, but the kind who isn't afraid to dig for the truth and expose it for all to see. Everly's alter ego is Eve Winters, an award winning journalist who doesn't seek the limelight, she's content with writing stories that change people's lives without drawing any attention to herself. Nothing much escapes Everly, she has a talent for seeing beneath the surface, reading people for who they really are. From her vantage point in Apartment #701, she has learned that the occupant in #702 is lonely. He has a habit of pushing people away before they can get too close, especially women. Maverick can offer a woman great sex, Everly can vouch for that fact. The walls are thin between #701 and #702 and many nights she has lain there wishing she was on the receiving end of his attention. He's intrigued by his odd little neighbor, who seems to want to be his wingman and he has no idea that her ulterior motive is to be his friend. After some negotiations, they strike a deal - she'll find him women who know the score, who won't expect more than he can give, and in return he'll see if he can advise her on how to attract a man for herself. To facilitate their odd arrangement, they install a chalkboard on the narrow wall separating their front doors, leaving messages about their shared adventures. The more time they spend together, the less important finding dates for the other becomes. "Texas Maverick" (Texas Heroes Book 5) by Sable Hunter and Ryan O'Leary is a fantastic read! I loved Maverick & Every's story. This story has passion, humor, action, hot firefighters, and more. I enjoyed getting to catch up some with Titan and MaKenna as well. This is an excellent addition to the Texas Heroes series. Unique story - loved that it is more like real life! Wow, the way Ms Hunter describes neighbors not knowing each other really is spot on. This story doesn't have a "big bad guy" like most of the authors other works. It's more about real life and social interactions. To be honest, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sometimes a story like this is perfect. I liked that Maverick discovered his faults on his own, he had to see it for himself. I am glad there wasn't the added drama of a third party. That made this book unique and well worth reading and definitely worth putting in my re-read pile. I'll be reading it again soon.

Great Reading! The story of Everly and Maverick is wonderful. The chemistry between the two of them is powerful they just don't figure it for awhile. They become friendly neighbors and it just takes off from there. Sable Hunter is one of my favorite authors. All her series are fabulous but they should come with a warning "You will not be able to put it down." Great Reading! The story of Everly and Maverick is wonderful. Texas Maverick is a fantastic addition to the Texas Heroes series. Written by Sable Hunter and Ryan O'Leary, it is loaded with humor, passion, romance and real to life problems. This is the story of Maverick Cross, Everly Winterfell, and "Satan" the cat. Maverick is a war veteran and a firefighter, who also suffers from PTSD, which affects his life in a number of negative ways. His neighbor Everly is an award winning journalist, who is very friendly but hates being the center of attention, thus Texas Maverick is a fantastic addition to the Texas Heroes series. Maverick is a war veteran and a firefighter, who also suffers from PTSD, which affects his life in a number of negative ways. His neighbor Everly is an award winning journalist, who is very friendly but hates being the center of attention, thus very few people know of her alter ego, Eve Winters. From the thin walls of her apartment she hears a lot of things that happen in Mavericks apartment including his problems with women getting too close and his constant nightmares. So Everly sets up a deal with Maverick, a deal that he cannot refuse. A chalkboard is installed on an outside wall between their apartments, and I loved reading the messages that they left on it. A friendship soon evolves and Maverick and Everly find themselves becoming more than just friends, but will his obsession with Eve Winters play havoc on their new friendship? I highly recommend this book to everybody that loves romance. But be warned you will not want to put it down once you start reading it, and at one point in the book you will want to strangle Maverick, okay maybe more than once. So go ahead and grab this one, and have a couple of laughs, shed a couple of tears, and enjoy!

I'm starting to get boring with my reviews for Sable Hunters books! There is a serious reason for that.....they are amazing. This edition of the "Heroes" series is a sure fire (no pun intended) hit! The chemistry between Eve and Mav reaches out the page and pulls the reader into the story and its so good I didn't want it to end! Sable is a go to author of mine so I knew she couldn't disappoint, but I had to read it, couldn't put it down, gasped, cried, shouted at Mav and Eve in turn, and sighed I'm starting to get boring with my reviews for Sable Hunters books! Read it, bonus is there are more in the series if you fall as hard in love as I did!

I just love sable hunter books. They are the perfect combination of romance and female angst and alpha male and happy endings. Sable, keep them coming. P.s. I hate the covers of her books. She needs a new cover designer
