I love how picking up a book by Lani Lynn Vale is always a guaranteed good read! Camryn is crushing hard on Flint Stone and honestly, what's not to like? He's hot, he's a cop, he's great with kids, he's a generally nice guy... too bad he doesn't know how to be nice to her. And his girlfriend just happens to be Camryn's nemesis. But she can't get him off of her mind. If only he felt the same way too. Camryn gets on Flint's nerves. She's gotten under his skin and he can't stop thinking about her. Who knew grown men could have crushes? His girlfriend isn't really his girlfriend and he's about fed up with having her around. She was supposed to distract him from his want, but his desire has only grown deeper. And when he and Camryn finally realize that their feelings are reciprocated... BOOM! Once we got past the enemies part, the lovers section took over and I loved how these characters loved each other. There was plenty to get them down or to make them doubt themselves, but nothing stopped them. Not the seemingly forbidden aspect of working and loving together. Not even the vindictiveness of Flint's ex. Nothing and no one was going to mess with their love and that only made their story more powerful for me. Their happy ending wasn't easy, but overcoming the pain only made it sweeter! * and yes, I do have a slight obsession with My Little Pony gifs Blog | FB | Twitter | IG | Tumblr | Pinterest | BookBub

Camryn and Flint had a tension going on in Hissy Fit that definitely caught my attention. I had a feeling they would be great together and once they got past their assumptions about one another, that was definitely what we got. The ex drama was a bit tedious at times but the ’extra’ still fit with how the story was set up. The LLV stamp was all over the tone and prose. A great addition to this latest series. I don’t know where LLV gets all these ideas from but she’s quickly become one of my go to comfort authors. Complimentary copy received and voluntarily reviewed.

So he and the h had some funny banter, they're enemies until finally he got rid of the OW and they jump each other's Bones and then it's all about this woman is amazing I can't get enough, to I love her to the moon and beyond (not really but you get it) The h had a crush her whole life on her BFF's brother until suddenly she didn't, then she liked Carver then the H is IT! This is what true love finally feels like yadda, yadda yadda! His ex fling plagued them through the entire book until she was transferred out. Now the h was dating a guy but he just disappeared from her life and then reappeared dating the ex fling of the H who only wanted the H so this OM resents the H and runs him off the road! They're both foul mouthed immature idiots 😂 They didn't use a condom the first time so she gets on birth control so they can have sex without confoms but she forgot that birth control pills don't protect against diseases especially as he was with the crazy ass OW recently The h nurses him back to health we get an epilogue as they lived happily ever after Eh the cover and epilogue I liked, the rest not so much. The search continues for my next great read!

Nothing proves that addiction more than the fact that even if containing elements that you don’t care for, you can’t help but devour the book in one sitting. That’s just how talented Lani Lynn Vale is with her words. That was the case here with Camry and Flint’s story, I love a good enemies to lovers’ tale, and this one fit that to a T, with their delicious BANTER, and APPARENT dislike towards one other, we could practically FEEL the sizzle between these two, it was that massive! The big issue I had with this one, and why I ended up not enjoying as much as I usually do, was that it contained one of my least premises and PERSONAL pet peeves, the H wanting the h from the very first minute and being aware of it, and instead of doing something about it, using OW as sexual replacement while only wanting the h. With that being very clear here and mentioned multiple times and the ow having the role she has all throughout the story, plus the off thought comments about the sexual relation in the first 25% of the story were kind of off putting to me, but again I say, it’s a personal peeve of mine and I have no doubt that most readers won’t have any issue with that, just wish that hadn’t kind of tainted their story for me, because if not for that and being reminded of the ow role in their past and present, these two were FANTASTIC together. And more than that, once they got together, which was very early in the book, they knew they were each other’s last, that they weren’t meant to be, not even a hint of doubt. They were each others’ ONE! I truly think Lani Lynn Vale must have a super writing power, because with these many releases and keeping up with this deliciously addictive writing style in every single one of her books…WOW! Lord Have Mercy is barely out in the world and I’m already craving her next book, and after the teasing in this one, I’m dying for Croft and Mickey’s book! Arghhh… Need it NOW!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 I know exactly what you’re capable of.” She smoothed her hand over my cheek. “What’s that?” “The impossible,” I rasped, my eyes once again closing. “Making me happy.” That was the day that I truly knew happiness. I usually love me some Lani Lynn... This started out real nice. Two lovely MC's and some funny bantering and situations. However it didn't sustain me. And I didn't feel them grow. They went from zero and both being apprehensive, to 100 and acting like a married couple. So it kinda felt rushed to me. And overall, the OW drama seemed really pointless. It was cute... I'm pretty sure that Lani Lynn Vale is one of my new favorite authors. I mean, this book started off with a reference to the Final Destination movie series, something that I think about all the time from that movie! It's funny to read my updates on Goodreads as I was reading this, I keep going on and on about how much I love this author! So much that she does in her stories makes me laugh, and keeps me turning pages, staying up way later than I should. One fun thing is that each chapter has a little text or note from one of the characters, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the actual story in that chapter, but is so funny and gives you such a fun snippet of the characters on the first chapters, and by the end you're just chuckling at the little tidbit and thinking how that is sooooo whatever character it is. The characters are real, but fun. All the characters play a role in the story, even ones that you might think are just there as extras end up having bigger parts to play a lot of times. I loved the total hate/lust that was between Flint and Camryn. And their names, so perfect! Flint Stone. And Camryn Elvis Presley. But it's not all fun and games and just gossipy issues at school for the drama. There's real drama at the end. Major drama. Some tears drama for me. But lots of loyalty and love and steam to make it the kind of story I have come to love and expect from this author. This review first appeared on Lisa Loves Literature. I also still need clarification on the joke from the first book in the series. Here is my question: The joke was: What is a soldier's least favorite month? The answer the story gave was 'Allich. I don't know what that is!! The answer I would have thought or can find anywhere is that the month is March. Help me!

This couple reminded me a lot of my own which made me love these characters even more! When push comes to shove and their new relationship is tested in unexpected ways, this couple shows just how much they care for one another, and I absolutely adored this enemies to lovers romance! 5 stars.

I really enjoyed this story and was laughing out loud, but there were a few things that made less sense to me. Lord Have Mercy follows our characters Flint and Camryn. Flint is definitely a dream, a cop with a K-9 dog. He loves working with the kids at the high school he works at and he's really good with them. Flint seems a bit arrogant, but there's a lot more than meets the eye. Camryn is a teacher who loves what she does and works hard for her students. When she starts taking classes at the gym Flint owns, things get interesting. Camryn starts to notice Flint, but he has a girlfriend (at least that's what she thinks), so they can't act upon it. The chemistry between Flint and Camryn is a lot of fun and it was hilarious to read about them annoying each other. The attraction was there, but they just had to give in to it. Once they did, things definitely got steamy. There was something about the first couple of steamy scenes that just didn't flow well. Maybe too much talking? I loved them together though. Once they got together that's when things got a bit weird. Flint's ex or hookup (whatever you want to call it) caused some drama in this story and it was weird that nothing was solved with that in this book. On top of that, the events later on felt like a whole new story was started (I don't want to go into detail, because I don't want to spoil). During that part, I enjoyed Flint and Camryn together, but it didn't make much sense. All in all, I still did enjoy this book. I wished the book was just a bit longer so that all the storylines could be worked out and solved more. If you love books with fun characters, steamy moments, lots of humor, a cute dog and funny lines that start each chapter, definitely give this book a try!

Camryn Elvis Presley was a bit of a departure from Vale’s typical heroine, and I adored her. A high school teacher, she was strong and didn’t hesitate to go toe-to-toe with the school’s resource police officer—her grudgingly secret crush—Flint Stone. The sparks flew between Flint and Camryn whenever they were together, and it isn’t long before their back-and-forth bickering turns into flirty banter. Flint, a good guy and as alpha as they come, moves quick to claim Camryn, who is just as adamant about claiming him. I loved Camryn and Flint's sweet and sexy romance, the push-and-pull of the chemistry between them and the suspenseful plot arc that kept me tapping my Kindle furiously. Lord have mercy is book two in the southern gentleman series. I have been eager to read this book since I finished the first book in this series. They made such a good couple. Sparks flew between them. I loved Camryn and Dooley. I liked that Dooley helped Camryn defeat her fear. They fast became best buddies. I really disliked Nivea. How Camryn didn’t throat punch her at any point was a miracle. I kind of wanted Camryn to end up doing it but Camryn had some strong ass willpower. I don’t think anyone in this story liked Nivea yet she would not get the message and disappear. I liked that not on Camryn told her but Flint also made his dislike known for his ex. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books in this series.

I was so so on this one. My biggest problem was how Flint seemed to move from one woman to Camryn very fast and how he kept bad mouthing the other woman, saying she was good at BJ's and convenient. Heck he even told Camryn this and how he liked Camryn before he asked out the other woman, but didn't want to ask Camryn because he knew she would be important. It made it really hard for me to like Flint and hard for me to like Camryn as she just accepted this. The one good thing Flint had going for I was so so on this one. Though the style is becoming a bit predictable it still pulls me in every time as it’s a winning formula that makes for an exhilarating romance that has me counting down the days until I get my hands on another new work from this captivating storyteller. Flint Stone’s a rugged man, self-assured, with a protective nature that shines through as a resource officer for a high school. He’s a former soldier with a strong sense of duty, beloved by everyone, except for the strong-willed Camryn Presley who leads him on a merry chase of enemies-to-lovers. From the moment they met in the previous book in this series they’ve been antagonizing each other, pushing each other’s buttons in scenes teeming with sexual tension. These scenes show a playful side to the sexy cop, a charming side that had me longing for he and Camryn to finally get together as it’s clear that they’re meant to be. Along with an immensely appealing charming side he also displayed moments of crassness (especially when trying to uncouple from a shrewish woman he’s been settling for while waiting for who he really wants) that somehow still made me laugh. Through moments where he’s a pillar of strength to a low moment where a mysterious villain leaves his life and future hanging in the balance, Flint remains a likable and drool-worthy hero who endeared himself to me through each naughty word and deed. Camryn Elvis Presley is a strong-willed heroine, self-deprecating in her less-than-model-sized body. She’s confident and doesn’t let others push her around as she gives as good as she gets. This strength adds fuel to the fire simmering between her and Flint and made for a combustible pairing between them as they slowly made their way to each other in a sensual tug-of-war. Camryn’s an outspoken heroine with a kind heart, a heroine who says what she means and means what she says. She may have been a bit timid when she first interacted with Flint, but she quickly became a formidable match to him that made them a crackling couple. When he needed help the most she again showed her strong will and supportive nature while helping him recover from a crippling car accident shrouded in mystery. Camryn’s a likable heroine through it all, one I can easily see as a friend and I enjoyed her interactions with other females throughout the story. From the first page to the last Ms. Vale has beautifully balanced the romance between two strong-willed people with bits of suspense. From scorching encounters in and out of the bedroom, to tender moments and heartfelt talks, to shocking moments of danger, readers will be on the edge of their seats breathlessly waiting for what happens next. Surrounding this likable main couple, and their picture perfect romance, is an equally entertaining cast of secondary characters. Some we’ve seen in a previous book (which allowed for a heartwarming update to their HEA) and some are brand new as they left an indelible mark. Amongst my favorites is Officer Schultz, friend to Flint and a dutiful man taking care of his sister’s children. I also found myself drawn to Flint’s friend Croft and his growing attraction to Carmichael, Flint’s sister. They too have a back and forth connection, a will-they-won’t-they vibe that has me longing to see where things go from here for them. On a whole, there were many good things going on in this book. There were also one or two things that frustrated me though too. The Other Woman in this story (though their relationship was on the outs), Schultz’s sister Nivea, was cray-cray and committed some hurtful acts towards Camryn out of jealousy. Her actions were over-the-top, a bit silly in a soap opera way, with a comeuppance for her that was far less than satisfying. There was also the mystery behind Flint’s accident late in the story that felt a bit jarring, a bit melodramatic too, and for me the culprit was more than obvious. The reasoning behind it was equally as obvious which lessened the dramatic impact of it all. Despite these small quibbles, I still found this an immensely entertaining read that gave me an afternoon of decadent delights courtesy of its scorching romantic encounters and snarky humor and crackling banter. Those who haven’t yet discovered this author need to get on the bandwagon as she continues to put out stories that will pull readers in wholeheartedly. 4.25 STARS!

Readers met Camryn Presley and Flint Stone, the hero and heroine in Lord Have Mercy, in Hissy Fit, the first book in Lani Lynn Vale’s latest series, The Southern Gentleman, and we could tell after one interaction that these two were either going to bite each other’s heads off or tear one another’s clothes off in order to work through the frustration and anger that consumes them when it comes to the other one. And while there’s still some animosity at the beginning of their own story, as it progresses, Lani Lynn Vale provides the necessary insight in order to see that it was never hatred that these two felt towards each other but a simmering lust and need that they couldn’t quite grasp because they were too used to giving each other shit and driving one another crazy. Camryn’s a great heroine - one whose quirks, fears, and sass make her relatable to all readers. Her internal musings are definitely on point when it comes to the issues and emotions that she deals with regularly, and while she does tend to say and act without completely thinking things through, it’s almost like her truths are spoken when she doesn’t overthink and overanalyze every detail. Flint comes off as a hardass in a lot of ways, but he’s also a good guy who loves helping kids and loves his job. Camryn is definitely a game changer for him, which is probably why he stayed away and acted put off by her words and her actions towards him. Maybe he wasn’t ready to feel everything that she would make him feel, but with only one kiss, there’s a clarity that both of them want to hold onto, and despite quite a few roadblocks and struggles that they have to deal with, they stand strong as partners and remain steadfast in their love for each other. I will say that Flint’s ex, Nivea, is a point of contention for me. She’s a nasty, self-absorbed woman who acts more like a high school ‘mean girl’ than the teacher she is, and the fact that Flint hooked up with her because he couldn’t have the woman he wanted, which was Camryn, didn’t sit too well with me, especially with how quickly he went all-in with Camryn after ending things with Nivea who just so happens to be Camryn’s nemesis. I wouldn’t really call Lord Have Mercy an enemies-to-lovers’ story because I don’t think Camryn and Flint truly hated one another; in fact, they seemed to desperately want each other and that’s what makes things between them complicated and tenuous until they hash out why they rubbed each other the wrong way and realized their angsty banter was more foreplay than anything else. Lord Have Mercy is another great read from Lani Lynn Vale; its story line and characters develop and progress in a way that makes the novel entertaining, a bit suspenseful, and just as steamy as the rest. 4 Poison Apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)

Lani Lynn Vale has delivered yet another amazingly witty romantic comedy with her latest release Lord Have Mercy. Ms Vale knows how to write feisty pocket sized heroines and she does not disappoint in Camryn’s character. Camryn is five foot one and is a chemistry teacher at the local high school. She has had a crush on the school resource officer, Officer Flint Stone for years now but for some reason he drives her nuts. She’s always pissed at him for one reason or another. I loved how the book started off and had me giggling in the first chapter alone with how she calls Officer Stone, Officer Meaniehead. Camryn may be little she is most definitely one you do not want to mess with. Flint’s character is just as awesome. He’s a tough, bearded six foot five cop who has a K-9 officer, Dooley. Both are as sweet as teddybears but when push comes to shove they will defend those they care about. Flint has stood on the sidelines waiting for the opportune time to make his move on Camryn and the day that she accidentally rear-ends his police cruiser is just that time. He had me laughing with of his thoughts, “Honestly, if I though hard enough, I could probably knock her backward with a well-place burp.” Unfortunately, he didn’t realise how terrified of Dooley she was, which thwarted his plans a bit. But he’s nothing if not determined! The plot and the unexpected twists and turns keep you guessing throughout the book which I absolutely love. Honestly, Lani Lynn Vale has yet to write a book that I don’t love every single page. I can’t wait to read what she comes up with next.

This in my opinion was better than the previous book in this series. The following details a particular pet peeve: Chapter 4: “I quickly shoved the phone into my bra so I wouldn’t be tempted to look at it here”. This specific author oftentimes references the placement of mobile devices close to the skin, in many of her books. Her continued ignoring of the facts as a Breast Cancer advocate, is frustrating - using undergarments and skin as mobile storage...can be life-threatening. Exercise and athletic wear now offer solutions to avoid placing mobiles or other electronic devices in bras. LLV’s disregard makes me as a reader concerned of the message to female readers. I have communicated with her many times failing to receive an acknowledgement. Fighting For A Cure references awareness of using undergarments and skin as mobile storage. WRITERS: KINDLY POST A WARNING THAT THIS PRACTICE PLACES WOMEN AT RISK::: Environmental Health Trust facilitates that carrying a mobile phone on your body (i.e. pocket or tucked in a bra) puts you at risk from harmful mobile phone radiation leading to infertility and a higher incidence of birth defects. For women, carrying a mobile phone in the bra or bra strap has been linked with the development of breast cancer. Highly ranked Mammography Centres cautions women on the hazards of carrying a mobile device in a brassiere, undergarment or close to the skin. The World Health Organization has classified mobile phones (and any wireless devices that use microwaves to communicate) as a group 2B risk − which means that they are “possibly carcinogenic to humans.” Many experts believe evidence is already strong enough to classify mobile phones as definite cancer causers. Please advocate to educate women against this practice in an effort to extend lives. Now onto our regularly scheduled thoughts: I felt her straddle me, my hands went to her hips on their own accord. Moving until she was where I needed her, I reached for my c-k and pointed it up while she positioned her entrance directly over the head. “Slide down,” I ordered. She did, coming to a stop when just the head was inside. “Please, please, please move.” She did, but only by a half an inch. I squeezed her hips. “Baby.” She gave me another inch, then stopped, panting. “You’re too big,” she breathed. “You feel like you’re about to split me in two.” “I’m not that big,” I lied. “You can take me.” She was already shaking her head. “I don’t think you understand. I have a very small vagina. Think of it like a pinky size—swear to God, stop laughing!” I couldn’t help it. She was trying to be so clinical and informative, but all she was doing was wiggling on my c-k—which was only about a quarter of the way in—while she tried to convince me of something that I could tell just by feeling her. “Vaginas are made to stretch,” I said, sounding pained She didn’t seem convinced. In fact, she seemed downright disbelieving. I didn’t blame her. Looking down between our bodies, I could see how far she stretched to accommodate my girth. My eyes were practically rolling into the back of my head, because all that was sheathed inside of her was the tip, and the way she was squeezing and writhing was putting quite a bit of pressure on the most sensitive part of me. “You’re like one of those Ekrich sausages trying to fit into a hot dog bun,” she continued. “It’s not going to work. No matter what you do, the hot dog bun isn’t going to be able to contain a piece of meat that large.” I was almost crying at this point. A, because she was comparing my d-k to an Ekrich sausage, and B, because I wanted to be inside of her so bad that it hurt. She moved until her hands were pressed on my chest, this time pulling my c-k slightly out of her to do so, and I lost it. Rolling and pulling out of her all at the same time, I started to descend her body even before she was able to regain her equilibrium. “Flint, what are you…” Then she trailed off as my intentions became clear. If she wasn’t convinced that I’d fit, then it would be my job to make her see that it was possible. I’d do that by getting her so sloppy wet for me that I’d slide right in without a second thought. I’d get her so goddamn insane with lust that she wouldn’t be able to come up with her crazy comparisons of sausages and hot dogs. He references his life as BC (before Camryn) adamantly convinced prior to remain unattached to grow his business. The gym was demanding, he worked full-time at the school, as well as picking up random shifts at the station. He didn’t think that a girlfriend could fit into that dynamic. There is obsessive behaviour from Carver, a man that Camryn briefly dated, if you blinked, you’d miss it. He’s now dating Nivea. “Carver, can you tell me why you were hiding beside Officer Stone’s vehicle with a lead pipe in your hand?” Carver snorted. “I want my lawyer.” Carver remained stubbornly silent. “I was informed that you used to have a black Suburban SUV.” Schultz leaned one hip casually against the metal table. “Is that true?” “Carver damn near jolted straight out of his chair as he whipped around and looked at Schultz with a panicked expression on his face. Schultz didn’t miss it, and I didn’t, either. The minute Carver saw me, he flinched. “Tell me why you did it? It’s all making sense now, only I don’t know what I ever did to you to warrant being run over by your SUV.” Evidently, Nivea told him that he’d never be Flint. In reaction, he hit him, ran him over, pinned him to the ground, he ran, watching from the woods as they kept him alive and airlifted him. Then there is screeching, annoying Nivea that has no pride or boundaries. “I swear to God, I don’t know what you ever saw in her.” “Convenience,” I answered. “You’re a pig, I don’t understand you at all.” “I don’t know why I decided to do anything with her. She was there, convenient, and I was trying hard to stay away from you. A distraction.” An inhaled hiss had me turning to see Nivea, who’d turned around to obviously give us more shit, listening to every word that I said. “What?!” Nivea screeched. Nivea moves to a different school district and Carver is sentenced to twenty years in prison. Camryn and Flint got married, completing their union with a newborn baby girl.

The writing was strong and kept me engaged from the first to the last page. The chemistry between Flint and Camryn was off the charts and smoking hot as these enemies turn to lovers. I loved how feisty Camryn was, not afraid to stand her ground and she is someone I would be happy to call friend. This book was well written with characters that kept me entertained and at times was an emotional roller coaster of a read with humour, angst, some danger and a little sadness but love and romance win out. The twists and turns had me guessing right up to the end and all in all this was an entertaining read. I am excited to see where this series goes next.

Neither one is sure how the other one is going to fit, but they try to make it worth. As usual with LLV, there are always outside forces seeking to wreck their relationship. The question is, will it be too late. You will have to read the book to find out. Definitely one of my favorites of LLV's.
