I was really looking forward to this book. Unfortunately, it just didn't blow me away as I had hoped. I don't mind a good enemy to lovers story, but there was SO much animosity and hate between these two, and it went on SO long that I never got a chance to connect with them as a couple. Even the sex scenes felt off because there was so much hate between them. I also didn't like either one of the main characters. They both came across as self-centered a$$holes. I mean, did Dixie even ONCE stop and think about the innocent victims she would have been killing (and maybe killed) that was staying at the hotel she blew up? Why was this possibility never brought up? I honestly didn't care if either of them ended up together or dead. Shrug. The writing itself was fine. We jump back and forth in time which lays down a lot of background history between Dixie and Brandon, which added a good bit of depth to the story. However, I think there was a bit too much of it at times and it disrupted the flow of the story, and I started skimming to get back to the present time. The ending itself was sweet, but I couldn't 100% buy into it. So yea, I don't know. It was OK, but not the complete hit I had hoped for. C'est la vie...

Unrelenting suffering. Death might have been quick, but the mark it left on this place … on me … is permanent. And it’s all because of me. My actions. Every misstep. Every obsession and every desire. It all led to this moment. None of it should have ever happened. Not me, not my fiery rage. None of it … But especially not her. Dixie Burrell. The one girl I always wanted but could never have. Not truly. Not fully. Never completely mine, even though I tried so fucking hard. Damn … I even killed for her. And it fucking ruined us both. I should’ve never set my eyes on her. Should’ve never let her get close and witness the real me. The dark monster hiding within. She should’ve never stepped foot in this shop all those years ago. Should’ve never opened her mouth in front of me and spoken a single word with that sweet, sinful voice of hers. Because with her sassy stubbornness, that gorgeous body, and fascinating mind she left her mark on my heart and tainted my very essence … Blackened my soul until there was nothing left but fire and ash. And now she’ll be my undoing. I sit down on a chair and witness the onslaught around me, the beautiful chaos of the smoke filling the air and the flames licking the windows. I don’t intend to move. Not one inch. I’ve set my memories on fire. And with them I’ll burn too.

***4 Stars*** Ohhh, this one did my head in. It really did. The story hooked me from the first page. I NEEDED to know what was going and kept turning the pages to see how everything unfolded. Their turbulent (total understatement) relationship had me wanting to toss the #Kindle into the freezer, even as I couldn’t wait to see them get their HEA. It was dark, dirty and heart breaking, but it was addictive. Brandon and Dixie tried me. HARD. I cannot remember a couple of characters who drove me this nuts...together. True, there have been characters that drove me batshit crazy recently, but it’s been awhile since it’s been the main couple together. Their saving grace, though, was the fact that when they weren’t doing my head in, I found them quite fascinating. Neither had easy lives, some of their struggles were seen, others not so much, but they ended up surviving ~ maybe not in the way most would expect, but they did. As for their extreme friends to enemies to lovers journey, it was intense as they battled it out in more ways than one and I had a 50/50 split going on whether or not they would end up killing each other in the end. But, this does have an HEA and where they both end up is exactly where they were always meant to be. This book was a roller coaster of a ride for me, but it was one I didn’t want to get off of. The characters were as complex as the twists and turns throughout the story and I enjoyed watching as everything unravelled and came back together again. This one can be read as a standalone, but I think that you’ll want to read Chased if you haven’t already, since Chase does make an appearance. As for the characters we meet in this one, there were very few that I liked, but Matteo definitely peaked my interest and I’m hoping we’ll see more of him at some point in the future. ~ Copy provided by the author & voluntarily reviewed ~

Not giving a Clarissa Wild book 5 stars is a really rare occurrence for me. However despite the fact that I did enjoy this book I don't think it is quite the 5 star quality that I am used to expecting from this author. They do say there's a fine line between love and hate but with Brandon and Dixie the line is so fine it's practically blurry. I got whiplash from their characters it was crazy how much they hated one another but still wanted each other at the same time. I had mixed feelings about this story although I love the character's themselves separately I felt that something was missing. We love the love/hate stories but,me for I just felt that something wasn't adding up.Brandon and Dixie where childhood sweethearts but, their relationship was full of complications .Do to their complications their relationship left on a bad note and years later they are reunited by a chance meeting . At the start of the story their was no doubt that both Dixie and Brandon were soul mates but, with life's interferences and well as their parents they were doomed from the start. The story was edgy and fast paced and very dark but, at times funny.I liked certain parts of the story and disliked others but, I was happy how the story ended. The story was defiantly a page turner but, somewhere in the middle of the story I started losing interest for a bit.I think my problem is this-During their chance meeting the hatred they had between them was undeniable but, what I could not understand why he hated Dixie the way he did to want nothing but,to seek revenge and end her life? This couple were childhood sweethearts and the breaking up was not a pleasant one but,the amount of hate he carried for her would not warrant that kind of hatred so, this is what threw me because if anyone had justified hated toward one another it would be in Dixie's corner not his. The story drug on a little bit two slowly with them shouting at each other with hateful barbs but, as the story progresses you do understand why he carries that kind of hate but, for me it took to long for the author to get there. Overall this is a very dark read that was full of suspense and had tons of twists and turns and one surprise after another as well as unbelievable betrayals but, it was also about healing and redemption as well as forgiveness and writing the wrongs of ones past. We did enjoy the story of a couple of soul mates who meet but,it just wasn't their time but, somehow fate has reunited these two broken souls and only the other will be able to heal them.We enjoyed the heart wrenching read as well as the character's themselves. "This was one hot dirty and raunchy read!" "The story tugged at my heart strings!" 4 stars from us

There is one thing this talented author knows what to do, and that is to write an exceptional masterpiece which just blows me away! Brandon and Dixie’s story is dark, raw, gritty, depraved, twisted, heartbreaking, and with enough drama to lead to a crazy and emotional roller coaster journey from beginning to end. I was totally enthralled throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this author, whose work I highly recommend for all.

***3.5 Forbidden Stars *** Branded by Clarissa Wild was a fast paced nitty gritty type of read. Fueled by angst and a forbidden love story, Dixie and Brandon face a far deeper threat and that is one another. Forced to be enemies, Brandon knows he should stay away . . . Branded wasn't as dark as I would have liked but still a decent read. ***3.5 Forbidden Stars *** Branded by Clarissa Wild was a fast paced nitty gritty type of read. This is darker than the norm for Clarissa... at least lately. And I loved it. I loved the depravity, the deviance and all the drama. As always, Clarissa delivers us an astronomical story full of twisted characters and horrifying scenes... do not read if you have a weak stomach! You’ve been warned. Perfectly thought out and delivered, though the characters will drive you to insanity yourself, you come to learn that that is just who they are. Oh my lord... It's been so long since I've read a book from this lady that I was nervous about it. Her latest book shook me up in a way that it left a brand there... Her writing is super raw and intense that will make you scream with pleasure or run for your life... Just see for yourself. Branded is her latest release and tells the stories of Dixie and Brandon. Brandon had a normal life. He worked as a security guard in his uncle's casino. Being Native American he was bullied alot. After arguing with his dad to know why they left the reserve and sticking up to the girl he loved he got out from home and then years had passed. One day at his job and... Dixie had the perfect life growing up. OK she had a few problems with her dad because she wanted to do stuff like men used to do. She just wanted to create and not doing some boring stuff in the farm. But one day everything changed and now she seeks revenge. And then they run into each other.. This could be the beginning of a relationship but they already knew each other. When they were kids they used to be all day together until one day they didn't and life kept running... What? Why? How? Jesus... What was this? I'm speechless... I'm doomed... Sweet lord, this book was darker than the night. Dayum... I'm still shaking. Fantastic plot, very well written, super engaging and intense. Let's not forget the drama and darkness that surrounded this story. It was madness. This book is told in two points of views and that made all the difference. Because when you're reading one point of view you will automatically ask what is the other character is thinking. A brilliant combination of you ask me. There were parts of the book that I wanted to slap someone and made them see the light. But there were others that I wanted to hold then and promise that better days would come. This book is surrounded by darkness, crime, drama, violence, abuse as well as love second chances, hope and forgiveness. I knew that this author would make me scream and oh boy... She really did. And girls... Hot stuff alert... Oh Clarissa what just happened? I knew the book would be intense but it was of charts... And I want more. Pretty please... I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is a dark read and the people involved do some pretty horrible things. (Much of which is played out in the book. The book goes back in time as the characters think about their past, and that is how we learn their history and the reason they feel the way they feel. Lots and lots of hatred. Yet despite that hatred, they can't help but feel a pull towards the other. Both feel they've been wronged by the other and are out for vengeance. The more time they are thrown together, the more they realize how much they are drawn to the other, so no matter the violence that surrounds them, there is a love story at the heart of it all. There are some sections that the writing seem choppy, and some of the reactions from the characters seem unreal for the situation, but they are all a little messed up in the head, so that may explain it. Brandon (the "Hero".. if you can call him that) has had a rough childhood. As a Native American, he was ridiculed, teased and tormented by not only his peers, but the adults surrounding him. No one had his back except for Dixie (the 'Heroine'.) She was the first person to stick up for him. But that was when they were young. Now she's out to kill him. Neither are perfectly innocent, but neither are totally guilty either. There is a lot of misunderstanding that caused most of their pain. Pain they need each other to overcome. There are some scenes that may make you cringe. And some that are beautiful (in the middle of all the destruction.) Due to the nature of this book, it is intended for mature readers. *I volunteered to review an ARC of this book.

The storyline is pretty good, there’s suspense, dark action, unexpected twists and intense sex scenes. But I felt that something was missing from the expected, we also spend a lot of time going back and forth through the years (which I’m not fond of, I get confused) this made the story longer than necessary and I felt the story was a little predictable. But still, none the less I enjoyed the book, it was entertaining but not a favourite.

Clarissa Wild has a gift at telling a story in such a way that you are instantly sucked in. I don't mean in a chapter, I mean in just one page. Admittedly, this is a much darker book than most. Wow this book! It’s dark, twisted crazy intense and definitely a page turner! Brandon is from a Indian reservation and brought into a new world by his father who won’t tell him nothing. Brandon meets Dixie a beautiful strong girl but they are opposites in every way. When Brandon leaves home things become even more crazy! Will the light ever show up for Brandon or will the cold fire of his heart surround him forever till the end? 5/5 stars

What did I just read? This book had so much built into I am not even sure where to start. The story line while not original I felt it to be original in the location and the characters put into play. Clarissa packed so much into this story between miscommunication between characters, dark, steam and just who to trust issues. The way to two characters hated each other and worked through their issues individually truly created for an amazing ride.

Clarissa Wild brought us another stellar read. The writing she does is superb! Branded is a friends to enemies to lovers story. There is depth to the story in the way of knowing the background of the two main characters. Dixie took me a while to warm up to her. She reminded me of a bratty 14yr old for a bit, but I ended up loving her. Brandon is a dark and sexy mofo.

I've read & enjoyed many of this author's works & was disappointed that this one missed for me. And the emotional ocean in this book does in fact do both BUT it also seemed to drag the story out (IMO) more than was called for. At several points I felt like rolling my eyes & shouting for God's sakes TALK to each other. After all, in the present time of the book they are mature adults, no longer confused & tormented teens. But, beyond the excessive (again IMO) emotional angst, I did care for both Brandon & Dixie, the author did an excellent job with fleshing them out, it just seemed they acted somewhat more like teenagers then adults. However, the plot itself was superb, the tension & suspense was extended by getting only snatches of what happened to Brandon & Dixie in their youth to bring them to the point they were at in the present. You do feel you understand the hate & rage both Brandon & Dixie are consumed by as they dance their duel of desired destruction for each other. Brandon is an awesome anti-Hero, huge, muscled, hard, handsome & lethal. I loved him. And Dixie is a perfect foil for him: determined, focused, beautiful, unafraid & willing to do whatever she needs to do to succeed in her self appointed mission. I admired her. Although not nearly as dark as I expected, there is excellent tension, mystery, suspense, danger & revelation in this one. Had the angst been reduced & tightened up I would have loved it vs liking it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was completely unprepared for this book since I've been reading light-hearted, sweet romance novels for the past few weeks. This books is dark and twisty. The only person to give him a chance as a new kid in the community. She showed compassion when the other boys at school bullied him for being Native American. Dixie has a few secrets of her own. Her family struggles to keep their family farm afloat. Her father and brothers are also keeping things from her including their reasons for mistreating Brandon. None of these secrets come out until it's too late. Her brothers are murdered. Her mother has a heart attack. Her father is vengeful. One wrong choice. Burning and fire has always entranced Brandon. It's a fascination. That fascination burns him and forces him to run from his home and his father. The last person who loves him. He turns to the only other person he can, Josiah. A man his father yelled at and told Brandon to stay away from along with the Burrells. Brandon doesn't find out until decades later why. When Dixie's bomb almost kills him....he begins to unravel the truth behind his childhood...and those he loves. Instead of turning Dixie over to his uncle, he protects her. Dixie is forced to trust the one person she wants to kill.  Murder is not something she has ever done. She will make an exception for Brandon. He did things to her family that are unforgivable. Will learning the truth change her mind?

Unlike the author's latest books, whose plot had prioritized the dark side of the characters, this one is best worked on the psychological side. Brandon Locklear came from an Indian family. He suffered bullying from the other youths in the city, and this only increased his hatred for his entire unexplained situation. Until the day that he and Dixie become more than friends ... Dixie approached Brandon at school when they were children. Unlike the others, she treated him well and did not think him different just because his skin was red. Besides, she came from a wealthy family, the Burrel. Their friendship suffered ups and downs, but she always treated him very well. As a teenager they started dating, and this news made Brandon and his father relationship worse, making Brandon decide to leave. Years go by and he's working in Las Vegas, on his uncle's casino security team. It is when he sees in the security cameras a woman implant a bomb in the hotel. When he reaches her, he discovers that she is the girl he has always loved and had to leave behind. Now she was not the same. She wanted revenge against all the Locklears for having ruined her family, and Brandon, who had been away, without knowing anything, found himself in the midst of a war that became his as well. Torn between family/blood and heart, Brandon will uncover threatening secrets and that sometimes only fire is able to solve and heal the wounds... 4 stars

I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I love dark romances. I have no problem with the filthiest stuff out there. Honestly, this novel didn't really tip the scales of "whoa" for me. It was rather tame compared to a lot of what I've been reading, but it did have it's moments. Very enemies to lovers, although the reason they were enemies is absolutely insane. I, personally, was never really convinced that these two people--unless completely, utterly psychotic--would be able to forgive one another for their mutual terrible past. Wild did a great job building up a relationship between our hero and heroine as a children/teenagers, but I didn't think she fully created a relationship that I could believe in. The plot was alright, but the entire story relied mostly on flashbacks to their childhood, which I'm not super into. I prefer most of my stories to stay firmly in the present, but that's a personal preference, not a fault of the author. There's lots of murder and mayhem and bad guys and guns. There's even a sex scene involving a gun, so fair warning on that. Most of the sex was borderline nonconsensual or cruel in the act. So if you're looking for love and gentle loving then you should look elsewhere. Over all, this wasn't a terrible read in terms of writing style and general plot--hell, I'm even down for a grumpy, sometimes cruel hero-but the indifference and anger between the two characters wasn't much of a turn on.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports. I fell for the one girl I could never have...And it destroyed us both. I did a bad thing. This is their story and it is a rocky hate filled page turner that will have you needing to know what is going to happen next. Brandon and Dixie met as teen and it seems like she is the only person in the town who liked Brandon or gave him a chance. Until she broke his heart and shattered him. Brandon is bullied something awful because he is a Indian. DIxie however saw the person and not the heritage he carried with him. His dad too moved them off the reserve and he hated that and his dad never would tell him why. This story is told from the present and past and dual points of view. I love to get both points of view and the entire back story. I don't want to give anyting away and let this story unfold for you as it did for me. Buckle up because things are gonna get crazy and Clarissa Wild has this way of brining you through the crazy and into the light.

Dark and Twisted The Queen of twisted tales is back! And she is back with a vengeance! From the second I started reading Branded the story just did not want to let me go. It's dark, twisted, emotional, intense and it completely did my head in. He is the iconic anti-hero handsome, well built and extremely lethal. She is a smart mouth, determined, beautiful woman, with a taste for vengeance, she is also the perfect match for him. Theirs is not a story of "sunshine and unicorns", it is dark and extremely disturbing, full of hatred and vengeance, there's passion, chemistry and intensity, everything I've come to expect from Ms Wild. There is a lot for Brandon and Dixie to work through before they have any chance of a happy ending ... the question is ... can they trust each other and put aside all the hatred? Did I love this book? Absolutely YES!!!! From one page to the next Ms Wild kept the twists and turns coming, and it made for exceptional reading. This is a true friends to enemies to lovers story. One that will certainly have your heart pounding rapidly. Read and Reviewed for Reading Is Our Satisfaction FIVE STARS

Murder, mystery, suspense, betrayal, intrigue, thrills and passion continue to keep you glued to the pages of this fascinating story. This book is not for the faint at heart, and it may be hard for you to read with all the graphic details. The story will keep you on the edge of your seat to find out what happened next. Not all of its surprises are pleasant ones, but there is a certain satisfaction in experiencing a thread that is so obstinately unexpected. With a diabolical plot that has twists and turns—some you see coming, some you don’t that makes it interesting! The story has a revenge plot, outlined to make you question everything. Second guessing motives and characters. I was flipping the pages in wonder. The storyline is fluid, and the characters are extremely well developed. Clarissa Wild has constructed a deliciously duplicitous dark romance that will lure you into the wee hours and beyond that you will not be able to put this book down. You won’t regret reading Branded!
