I had never heard of a soul reaver before in fantasy before. So I had to find out what Daphne was all about. You see, she calls herself a monster because she has to feed off of the feelings of others and then once a year consume a soul for her to stay alive. BUT, she only takes negative feelings and souls with  layers of darkness to their  very depths. For that reason, I don't find her a monster. I find her gentle and kind. Just a beautiful being. She just doesn't see it.  ::::WARNING:::: There are triggers in here for self harm. Daphne harms herself because the souls inside her ARE NOT GOOD. THEY ARE DARK.  Upon looking for the soul to consume she stumbles into a new world that is complicated and dangerous. Where it seems every being in it wants her dead even though she belongs in this new world as a reaver. She doesn't know whom to trust.  There are so many twists and surprises in this book that I was amazed. You MUST keep your eyes open at all times so you don't miss anything. Someone is always scheming or something else is happening.  So much action happens in this book that it is almost unbelievable how small of a book this is. I just can't fathom how Victoria came up with all of this and fit it all in here. I really don't understand how such literary genius didn't come across my radar sooner. This will be a forever favorite of mine. Daphne is really powerful and the way her powers are shown and grow throughout the book are exponential. The way her powers are described is with intricate detail and is really beautiful how she sees people's souls and feelings. I would even go as far to say that it is breathtaking.  Insert SWOON here.  Daphne finds true love with him and I couldn't be happier. They have been through so much together in this book and I know they will in the next one too. I couldn't have picked a better match because this pair is so beautiful together it actually hurts to read about it. Of all the things that has happened to them they deserve some joy in their lives.  Alright, so I knew before I started this book that it had a cliffhanger ending, but damn. With Mist just "in the wind", it can't end like that. With all that happened right before the ending.  It was like there was an information dump on me, then BOOM the book ended. I can't handle and process that all at once!! Give a girl a break! Plus I have to wait till book 2 is out to find out about my Mist.  I felt this book down to my heart, soul and back and it was crushing. I don't know what I am going to do with myself. So you better read this!!! *Hugs Self*  I guess it is fitting that the next book I am reading is called Broken House. I am feeling a little broken after that.

This is author's debut novel and I cannot believe it took me so long to start reading it. The story is absolutely amazing, I love the author's writing style, her approach is fresh and original, and my overall impression is that I want to read more of her books. Apart from being beautifully consistent, the author did a stellar job in the world building and character development, and as I mentioned, she takes a different approach to the supernatural community. Her prologue is a glimpse into one of the most beautiful love stories I would love to read. The main character is Daphne, a soul reaver, an orphan unaware of the others, forced to kill to survive. She is also feared and hated by most of the supernaturals simply because of her nature. Her resilience is simply impressive. The amount of raw emotion the author managed to convey in the first part of the book is unparalleled. The pain, loneliness and confusion Daphne feels are palpable and available for the reader to experience. There are two issues that author tackles in an amazing way, and I could not be more impressed with her approach. Firstly, there is discrimination among races of supernaturals, especially the soul reavers who are being feared, hated and eliminated just because of what they are, without any consideration for giving the individuals some benefit of a doubt. The way the author portrays the hatred, fear and discrimination, makes it difficult for the reader not to feel for the main character and the hardships she faces. Fortunately, the author does not leave a reader without the positive influence of the characters who fight the discrimination with everything they have. Secondly, there is the issue of same sex attraction which is still quite rare, but the author treats it as any other regular topic, in other words, she does not make an issue out of it, which could not make me happier. There is an array of fantastic characters, Kate, Jay, and Topher being some of them, and there is an array of unlikable characters, all of which are well developed and realistic. Then there is Rufus, my dream pet, one of the cutest fictional pets ever invented. I have to mention that the book has an open ending and leaves things partially unresolved, so keep that in mind when starting. I am obviously dying to read more and cannot wait for the next book to be available. The Soul Reaver Alloy (Myre Series Book Two) and The Demon Shadow Play (Myre Series Book Three) have been announced.

4-4.5 stars. This is my second time reading this and I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time. I absolutely love Mist ✨💛 I felt like the ending fight scene was a bit underwhelming. It could have definitely been so much better. I hate how one of the most ‘ancient’ and ‘powerful’ villian character died too easily. Otherwise, I enjoyed the story.

Complex and rather captivating This entire world is unique and inspiring, written in lush tones and immersive notes that paint a new reality - even if it is sometimes confusing. I ran to catch up to the characters, learning about them and their abilities on the fly - which suited as that was how the FMC learned most things as well. While she is part of this world, her exposure has been limited till a chance encounter with air demon drags her into the shadowy truth that has always surrounded her. Third person, multiple POV, Urban Fantasy, single love interest, gets steamy towards end. Pros: - well written - Well edited for word usage and punctuation - Characters are fully realized - Ends with more questions and few answers, as all first books should. - Long! Cons: - Some scenes feel redundant or filler: only reason it lost a star.

Interesting and well written I enjoyed this first books in the Myre Series. It's an attention grabber and introduces some paranormal species that are unfamiliar to many readers. It's a coming of age story in Daphne, one of the few surviving reavers; it's a story of a girl who has always been alone who is experiencing friendship and attraction with other characters; and it's a battle between good and evil, love and hate, and traditionalists against the more modern Myres. First off, I'd like to say I got a free copy of this book and volunteered to review it. The story itself overall was great! I was hooked from page one. The author has a way of sucking you in with her writing. The story came alive while I was reading it. She didn't over explain things but she also didn't leave you questioning anything either. And her books had little to no grammar errors, which was a huge plus. And the characters! The characters are complexed yet simple as well. I received an ARC of this story through Hidden Gems and this is my honest and voluntary review. This book was a little bit of a slow starter for me and I was worried I would have to struggle through it. Once I hit about a quarter of the way through, things really got interested and I could stop reading! Daphne became an eminently likable and real-feeling character for me. I loved this new take on some classic legends. The city of Trinity is brimming with characters from all walks of legends from vampires to fire angels and everything in between. Living in the human world, all she knows is that she’s different. When she comes into her own, everything changes, and not just for her but for the entire underworld that she finds herself a part of. The cast of characters is well fleshed out here and they all have their own goals and lives. It was fascinating to delve into this new world and... Oh My God, we cannot forget about Mistrael. I’m a romance reader at heart and boy, did he ever do it for me. He and Daphne go from mortal enemies to something so much more. It was romance but not necessarily a romance novel. Love!! Cannot wait for the sequel!!

I absolutely loved this book. It had everything you could want in a fantasy. I loved how all the characters were able to help Daphne grow into the strong women that is has always been but didnt know it. It had great fighting scenes for the ones that love action. It also has a bit of romance. All the characters in this book I couldnt help but fall in love with. I cant wait for the next book to come out so we can see how if ends. This book does leave you and a huge cliffhanger.

This was an EXCELLENT BOOK! I had trouble putting it down for even a minute. Riveting characters an awesome story line and more paranormal characters than you could shake a stick at 😉 Seriously, this book deserves more than 5 stars. I absolutely cannot wait to see what is in store for us next. I was graciously gifted an ARC in return for an honest review. (Read 01-12-18)

Another story I was given free to read by Hidden Gems for a review to be left. Good beginning Many things happen on this adventure and I look forward to the next book. The heroine has a lot of questions about her existence and what she should do. It takes her a while to come into her own, but she finally does. Overall an interesting read.

This story sucked me right in. I am hooked on this series. The Author had me laughing out loud in chapter 2 when Daphne and Mistrael first meet and then had me swooning when a certain Felinne saunters into the room in his black panther form. Victoria has developed a truly complex mythical world/characters which she has executed perfectly.
