I’m an old hand at the internet and an early user of Facebook and some other social tools. And this was a take on social that is a step beyond what I was familiar with. Rojas approaches her topic from her expertise gained from running her company, DigiTour, which provides a live tour of viral social media “stars”. From her perspective, having a post go viral is key, and she provides advice on how to engineer your social media for optimum virality, if that’s a word. From her perspective, having a post go viral is key, and she provides advice on how to engineer your social media for optimum virality, if that’s a word. Interspersed with the advice are stories of her business. I found these stories were very interesting, with parts of her experience being a kind of concert promoter mixed in with her learnings in social media. As a how-to book, this was interesting given the currency of the topic, but I couldn’t decide whether the topics have limited audience or not. The audience Rojas describes tends to be young, younger than 25, and you can’t tell if these tactics work with older audiences. The book is very worthwhile if you want to appeal to this demographic. I also enjoyed the “business biography” of DigiTour and Rojas’ growth operating her business. Great tour stories, and great stories about how to blaze trails in creating a new kind of venue, a “talent” show where the “talent” is in acquiring views online.

Review- This is a book with some good tips on internet stardom but that about it. Rojas talks about her life, how she made her business, and some ideas about what you can do to make yourself internet famous. But if you looking for anything more than that, then this book is not for you. The real focus of this book is musically based and how to make it in this new music world. If that is what you are interested in, then Rojas has some great advice for you but if you want to something else, like because the next big book reviewer, she does not have anything for you really. But it was still an interesting and easy read with interviews of interesting people, so you do not lose anything by giving this a look. I give this a Three out of Five stars.

I loved it! I loved the excitement and rush and encouragement the author gave her readers, alongside tips, secrets, and awesome anecdotes. Even though I am completely out of the age range of this book's targeted audience, I've learned so much that I can use in my own endeavors of promoting my accounts and projects. Thank you, Meridith Rojas and St. Martin's Press, for the gift! I loved it! The book was okay. Some of it was useful, but there are areas that could have been more useful. It doesn't mention anything about WordPress, or how to monetize our social platforms. She doesn't suggest ways to customize our platforms. She doesn't give advice on how to live stream videos or edit them. If you're writing a book about blogging there needs to be more details. Selfie Made really targets a young audience with tips and tricks for becoming an internet sensation. No so great for older audiences wanting to use social media to enhance an existing business. Not bad, but not applicable.

#SelfieMade #NetGalley This is a 101 guide to enter the virtual world of social media. The book is clear and it explains how it works and how to use social media from scratch using different platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and more. I loved the section of how to select who to follow.
