This volume contains three short stories: one about Vulcans wanting to take revenge on Romulans for the destruction of their planet (and acting like morons), one a reimagined version of the OS's "The Return of the Archons", and one a reimagined version of "The Trouble with Tribbles". My volume, at least, also contained a story from Way Back, from the original comic book series which had been published not long after the television series launched. My volume, at least, also contained a story from Way Back, from the original comic book series which had been published not long after the television series launched. It's called "Dark Traveler" and it's about a mysterious person who pops up on the Enterprise and hijacks it to return to his home planet. While other Gold Key comics reprinted in this series of volumes felt silly, absurd and out of tone with Star Trek, "Dark Traveler" has a similar tone to the original series and isn't bad.

This volume contains three stories, unfortunately they lack substance or sense - the only positive thing I have for the selection is that there's an ominous Federation organisation that might have a bit more to say. The first one is a story about the Vulcanians trying to destroy Romulus, a thing stopped by Kirk in a way I don't really see making much sense. Then there's a story about a wicked scientist that creates an AI that subjugates an entire colony, and then there's a surprisingly boring sto This volume contains three stories, unfortunately they lack substance or sense - the only positive thing I have for the selection is that there's an ominous Federation organisation that might have a bit more to say. Then there's a story about a wicked scientist that creates an AI that subjugates an entire colony, and then there's a surprisingly boring story with the alternate Enterprise meeting the tribbles. Unfortunately they all seem a bit rushed and somewhat uninspired. Or maybe I set my expectations too high.
