When Nick who now works with the AIS Team finally catches up with her, they spend one explosive night together. Little does Nick know that within a short time Kay will disappear and walk right into danger. Naturally, Nick is not keen on letting Kay walk away, especially walking into danger to expose a deadly plot that will have the potential of killing 1000’s of innocent people. Midnight Fever is action packed, suspenseful, and sexy! As I’ve said in the past these books remain the same.....alpha hero, strong women, yet, they are none the less damsels in distress. Regardless of the theme remaining the same I AM HOOKED on these Men of Midnight books, I love that past characters are very involved with each new book, I love getting their updates, seeing their growing families, and watching them all work together to help (the current couple) in any way they can. I can't wait to get the next Midnight book!! There were a couple of loose ends in this book that lacked conclusion and although there was a lot of talk of Nick’s huge Italian family and Kay’s beloved Grandfather Al Goodnight neither make an appearance, I found that disappointing along with what seemed to be an abrupt ending…had we met some of Nick’s family and/or had a cameo from Kay’s Grandfather this would have been a five star read for me. All-in-all another great addition to the Midnight Men series!! Definitely a must read if you’re a fan of the series!!

Nunca vou esquecer a cena. Recomendo muito toda série. Este livro foi meu favorito até agora. --------- Wow! Wonderful story! If you are looking for a perfect hero and a charming heroine you just found here. He's an alpha male of first quality with those features we love and known as "Nick the Lionheart" by his bravery. She is a beautiful woman, loving, loyal to friends and family, with a great work ethic, super smart and Virology expert with a PhD and two Masters. The heroes together are explosives and put sheets on fire when they can get to them, because they are masters at sex against walls. Both are very hot and the chemistry between them is perfect. Kay best friend finds out that someone in the Department is selling the studies to be used as a biological weapon. This friend is murdered and let Kay tasked to continue the investigation. Betrayed by colleagues who should ensure that the research done would be used only for the benefit of the people and not for personal enrichment. The bad guys have created a biological weapon with the flu virus that combined with the DNA of the target becomes in a deadly weapon and that reaches only the victim or those who share DNA with. A virus that is the perfect weapon with fast action and that disappears in 24 hours leaving no anything that would incriminate the killer. After several murders connected to the investigation. Everything goes wrong and our hero and his team come into action to save the day. Many scenes of action and suspense and more walls are tested by the heroes. The reader can't stop reading to find out how everything will be resolved and if the killer will get Kay. The end is really good and the proposal is epic. I will never forget the scene. I highly recommend the whole series. This book was my favorite so far. Highlights: "...he was with Alpha Security International, a big security company in Portland." "Nick wasn’t known for his long-term relationships, but he wasn’t a player, either." And yet…it never failed to astonish her that people could be more dangerous than disease. More murderous, capable of much greater damage." "The consensus was that Nick was a really good guy, one of the rare ones. Hard-headed, yes, stubborn as they come, but brave as a lion." He must be wondering whether she suffered from some kind of mental or hormonal disorder. Maybe she was. Nick Lust Disorder. “It’s just dessert, Nick.” He wasn’t smiling at all. “Not the way you’re eating it, sweetheart. You’re making this pure sex.” "Nick the Lionheart!" "...he hadn’t been to bed with anyone since that kiss. Pathetic, but there it was. "She was a virologist and geneticist—the fuck he knew about genes? Except the fact that his were irresistibly drawn to hers." "Kay was real and warm and funny and so sexy she turned him inside out without even trying." “I don’t think I can make it to the bed,” he whispered against the skin of her neck. “Then don’t,” she whispered back." “Wow.” Wow was right. "They’d walked into her hotel room and then she’d found herself plastered against the wall, somehow her clothes had come off and enough of his clothes had come off to make sex possible and the rest was a sweaty blur." “We’re not alone, honey. We have a team at our back.” "I have a horrible feeling we’re looking at a powerful bio-weapon, maybe weaponized Spanish flu. Certainly, whatever killed Mike did it in a minute, a minute and a half." “we’re a team. Where Nick goes, we go.” “A perfect murder weapon. A virus tailored to someone’s DNA, delivered by drone. Essentially a natural death, put down to a sudden allergic attack, a stroke or a heart attack. The murderer can be far away, guiding the drone by a tablet, waiting for the right moment." "It’s the perfect weapon, surgically precise." “Dr. Frank Winstone. The head of the CDC.” He’d betrayed her, he’d betrayed the thousands of people working for the CDC, he’d betrayed the thousands who’d risked their lives. He’d betrayed the millions of Americans who trusted the CDC to keep them safe. “Bio-weapons, huh? Give me a gunned-up mobster any day.” "Kay scienced the shit out of him.”

It's so nice to read a new Lisa's book. So nice that I read it in one go. It's also nice to see her style is the same, that her characters are really great, that the suspense is well done, that we believe in the HEA, that we see again all of the ex Men of Midnight heroes. In fact, everything is the book makes it a to-read one.

Disappointed It has been a few of the author's books that I found the writing style has changed. I loved the author writing for previous books, because it was very masculine! And I really thought at first it was a man writing. In the other books there was not the over emotions that exists generally in romance and lately in the sequels of men of midnight. In the other books there was not the over emotions that exists generally in romance and lately in the sequels of men of midnight. It was more erotica but with a good and interesting story, events and action. For the sequels of midnight men, I find the there is too many sentences "fillers". Where even the tough guys of ASI are mushing over how awesome a female character is. And it is repeated often by the same or several of the characters. And that's annoying. I'd love for the author to find back her old recipe and for her to write back like this. Because I fast read all her last books now. And I'm starting to not trust her anymore. The over vomiting of sentiments is boring. There is too many authors doing the same. And she was the one of the few doing erotica with great plot and great writing. We know the H is in love of the h and he likes his friends/colleagues and he can count on them, and the characters assembled in the groupe are all awesome... and just writing that is boring... I don't need for the characters to throw their feelings over and over again, as well as repeated this several times even in different ways. Before it was straight to the point, with no nonsense, tough very masculine sexual guys who were not very comfortable in sharing what they feel or think about people, or lovers even if they liked and considered those people/ female they wanted. Now it's all about mushy mushy "tough" guys who are in sync with their feelings and don't hesitate to share them... blehhhh. My example : when Nick is under fire and one of the guy tell him to leave , Nick starts to say, if it's was Felicity there, would you leave? The tone, the question, the answer of the other character are all so cheesy. I never thought I would have written a review like that one about Rice, but that's a few books now that I'm getting disappointed and quite bored with. If there is another book, I'm not sure I'll want to buy it automatically like I used to. I like the plot behind it but I do not enjoy the way she has changed her way of describing/impersonated the Hero characters. I'm sad now

I love a good Lisa Marie Rice hero. Nick is definitely that. Hot, sexy, and protective, just what I expect and want. Honorable and ready to give his all to protect his team and his woman. Kay was a good heroine, totally into her man, but driven to do what was right before she let herself enjoy him. The bad guys were not over the top, just really bad guys doing bad things. This was a little slow to grab my attention, but I knew once it did that I would rush through to the end. And I did. I like the author's writing style, it doesn't vary much. But you know what you will get and it works for me. The suspense aspect of this story was scary on a 'can you imagine if this really happened?!' kind of way. I did enjoy the ending though!

Nick Mancino was tired of going after Kay Hudson, the beautiful scientist, Al Goodkind's granddaughter. But when she invites him for a dinner at a hotel in Portland, he does not miss the chance to meet her again, and maybe end up the night in bed. This was exactly Kay's plan. But that to her would be like a farewell because the next day she would do something very dangerous, and would have to disappear forever. The first part of the plan of both works out and the night of their love is on fire. But Nick Mancino was tired of going after Kay Hudson, the beautiful scientist, Al Goodkind's granddaughter. Pursued by a drone with a murder weapon, Kay sees no alternative but to ask for Nick's help. Kay was also friends with Felicity, Metal's wife, who also worked at ASI, and from there, the whole team went to work for Kay's safety. But much more was involved. That new biological weapon could kill millions of people. All in silence. John "Midnight" and his team would need to find out who the killer was. Nick, for his part, wanted to be sure that Kay would never be afraid that way, and for that, he would go to hell after the guilty. Great pace. Characters more than already known (and it is great to review them and to know of some private news of them). I think the character of the next book has been introduced here - and if it's really him, his life story is about to break your heart. 5 stars ARC provided by the author's team in exchange of an honest review

This is my favorite author and I have read all of her books. Unfortunately, I am noticing a serious decline in the quality of her stories. First, there was little chemistry between the H and h. The H was more sweet than alpha. The whole secret advanced state-of-the-art compound was too OTT. I also found the ending to be rushed with the villain being one-dimensional. Felicity was also in this story and I really don't like her character. There are some great characters from the past Midnight serie This is my favorite author and I have read all of her books. There were too many mentions of how employees are paid a lot at AIS and how tough the men are. I wish this author would write more stories like the first 3 Midnight books. The H was a stalkerific cavemen, the sex was hot, and the story was suspenseful.

This is me with Nick and Kay ... and wow... as it was worth waiting for, the story is electrifying. Nick has done everything possible to find Kay again, but it seems like she's having the same commitment to avoiding him. He has just moved to Portland after finally agreeing to work at ASI with Midnight and Senior when she invites him to dinner, taking advantage of her being in town for a conference. Nick will not let this opportunity slip away, but when he wakes up alone after a memorable night, he wonders if he's got it all wrong ... then his cell phone rings and it's Kay asking for "Help!" One of Kay's best friends was murdered, Kay is sure of that, and when Kay tries to fulfill her friend's last request she sees a man being killed mysteriously in front of her. Desperate, she can only think of one thing: Call Nick for Help. Nick and Kay team up to stop a monster, and will have the support of all ASI and Bud Morrison. Now I'm crazy about the story of former Lieutenant Matt Walker.

The problem is that I didn't get anything new from this LMR outing. Nick and Kay followed the same standard LMR pattern - the hero pants and the heroine heaves as they circle each other in a haze of respectful sexual chemistry, then they have off-the-charts sex, followed by inexplicable danger, and then everyone is saved by the All-Alpha ASI squad. There is a comfort to this author's over-the-top mutual lust fiesta, but still, it is jarring when they then exchange ILYs after exchanging fluids but not a whole lot of conversation. I think I miss the bonkers craziness of her earlier heroes like John from Midnight Man and Bud from Midnight Run; both of whom make a cameo appearance. 4 stars

Did anyone else think this was weird? (SPOILERS:) 1. Kay's face got sprayed with an instantly deadly virus and she deducted that she must be immune to survive. 2. That same day she lets her boyfriend hug her, and kiss her on the mouth, cheek and forehead. She didn't even wash her face first! And she had no way of knowing if he was also immune. I think I got herpes just from reading that.

Other than the start, a romantic dinner followed by a fun evening full of sexcapades, I felt like the rest of the book was one big action movie, one where our characters were constantly on the run. The previous volume, Midnight Quest, was published in April 2016. We find again all the ingredients of a super Lisa Marie Rice’s book, and the fans will be delighted by this reading. Nick Mancino is part of Alpha Security International society, created by John Huntington (Midnight Man) and Douglas Kowalski (Midnight Angel). He has an important secondary role in Midnight Fire (my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... ). Our heroine, Kay Hudson, works for the famous CDC as a researcher. I don’t recall having already met her. In any case, it’s one of Felicity Ward’s best friends (Midnight Promises, review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... ). Nick and Kay have already known each other for several months when Midnight Fever begins. This volume starts with Nick and Kay’s reunion after a few months. In fact, Kay was avoiding Nick for reasons we discover fast but I won’t tell here because even if we have a glimpse of everything that’s happening, we have the whys and the wherefores as we go along. Of course the hero will know what’s happening and do everything to protect her. Midnight Fever is a great reading: I find again everything I love about Lisa Marie Rice. An intelligent heroine, kind, determined, and not TSTL at all. A super protective hero, super alpha, super possessive. LOL. All the Midnight gang who helps and intervenes. And a new character who will probably have his own story. We also have some appreciable humor. On the suspense side, the reader knows quickly who is the real bad guy but not the heroes. A lot of action punctuates the story, and quite technical terms as well (but well explained and within readers’ grasp) showing Lisa knows her subject. A surprise too following the discovery of a facility that made me think hugely to the Ghost Ops series. But I let you discover what I’m talking about LOL. On the romance side, we have an immediate attraction, intense love scenes, a wonderful HEA. In short, once again, everything making us love LMR. To conclude: a very, very good opus by Lisa that I recommend.

Nick Mancino has been dreaming about Dr. Kay Hudson since their last meeting when he saved her grandfather. Kay seemed to be pushing him away, but when he finally catches up with her their night is totally mind blowing. Midnight Fever is an action packed read. Sometimes when a series continues the writing seems forced as if it is a chore and no longer a desire for the author. This is not the case for author Lisa Marie Rice and her Men of Midnight series. Each one has the same intriguing feel and the men of Midnight are tough, strong, able men who turn to mush when it comes to their women. Which is something that I enjoy reading. This one centers on Nick and Kay and ... wow ... do they have a story. I thought it a nice twist that the reason Kay was pushing Nick away was to protect him ... he was F.B.I. at the time and she already knew something was wrong with where she worked and was going to become a whistleblower and did not want to ruin his career in the process. That was an ahhh moment for the readers and for Nick himself. I have to admit that some of the scientific chatter slowed the book down for me but there was enough gun action and steamy action to speed it right back up. I also enjoy the returning of the other members of the team, their wives and growing families, and watching them all work together to end the most recent danger to the world. I can't wait to get my hands on the next offering by Ms. Rice as there were a few items in this book that lacked a definitive conclusion, so I am hoping the next will offer more information. If you want high octane action, sweet and steamy romance, with a team of people saving the world from evil then Midnight Fever will fit the bill perfectly.

LMR has been slowly, and gracefully moving our Midnight world from present to near future. Lisa Marie Rice does science and tech like few writers do. Well researched, her near-future is firmly grounded in current technology with plausible forecasting of where it can lead us. When she pitches her future tech & science, it hits you straight between the eyes and you know it can happen. She's nearly unique in this genre for her authentic takes on weaponry, politics, action, strategy, and tactics. I'm nearly rabid about Midnight Fever because this one showcases those efforts and I love her even more for it. Another thing I love is Rice's turns of phrase. Rice's characterization and the development of the relationship between Kay and Nick is (of course) hotter than all get out and funnier than heck at times, making for a fresh read. Besides her fresh language and smart bent, her women are not TSTL. She avoids the eye-crossing cliches which now are simply painful and while making Kay CDC smart, she backs it up with coherent dialogue. Kay's smarts are not a sidebar. They're the center of the story and its believability. I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review, but seeing as I began re-reading it immediately, you could say I loved it.

But Nick is not one to be sidelined and with his brothers in arms beside him, they will eliminate the threat at any cost. I love these Midnight thrills with their brilliant storylines, and not to mention the ultra brilliant heroines, and their kickass partners. Lisa Marie Rice is a pro at these and I never miss reading any of her books. Short but captivating, Lisa Marie Rice gives her readers an adrenaline ride of danger and passion, love and support, giving importance to relationships and friends. The Midnight series may connect the events and characters in each story, but each of them can be read a standalone. Received an ARC from the author for an honest review.

Aaaand she's back!! I have to say I hesitated buying this book, the last two works have not been up to Ms Rice's previous standards and I was about ready to give up and move on. I'm really really glad I didn't. LMR writes her books to a 80's/90's action movie formula, Alpha Male H, charming selfless h in danger, hot sex, a bit of military jargon, lots of cool guy toys, a car chase, a big shoot out/show down, and a sappy love filled ending. Her H's are usually totally respectful and considerate to women, treating them with such wonderful care and consideration that for once my inner feminist is not booing and hissing at all the testosterone driven bossiness. Some might say LMR's world is too idealistic with the instal-love thing and it's a valid opinion, but honestly I also love books about werewolves, vampires and alien's so realistic is what I watch the news for, this is pure book, bubble and bath bliss time. I just hope like heck that future books stay as fun a read as this one.

Loved Nick and Kay’s story! Midnight Fever is part of the Men of Midnight Series and just like the other Midnight Men, Nick is fiercely protective and he has been chasing after Kay, always a moment too late. Kay is another strong leading lady. She is about to do something that she cannot come back from so to give herself something, one night, she invites Nick to dinner, this time she isn’t evading him. Will Kay and Nick be able to get out of this unscathed? Will they be able to let their chemistry ignite? Read and find out… <3<3<3

Very sexy when they are not running for their lives. What will win brains or brawn? You will meet some old friends from the previous books in the series, but you could read it on it's own. Very exciting read.

I'm not sure what to say about this book...normally I love this series and this author but something was just off with this one for me. It's still a solid read, good chemistry between the H/h and fun to read about the weddings, babies and pregnancies of the Men of Midnight, but that edge of your seat feeling I usually get with this series was lacking. The ending seemed very abrupt and unfinished and there was no real resolution with the true villain in this book. There were scenes relating to him arranging for the death of a political figure in the middle but then...nothing. The death seemed important and would be key to identifying the mastermind behind the entire storyline, then was never discovered by the ASI group. I'm guessing the next one will somehow pick up the storyline, but if so, it was not very well done. Hoping for some answers with the next book.

Midnight Fever (Men of Midnight Book 6) by Lisa Marie Rice I loved every one of Lisa Marie's books..especially the midnight series...some I have read twice. But I found this one different...not her usual writing style.. Nick Mancino was a Navy Seal and a FBI Special Agent, is now working for ASI. Dr. Kay Hudson is a scientist/virologist with the CDC. Someone is making Bio Weapons and selling them on the black market., and Kay's friend was killed when she discovered what was going on. But Nick won't let her face her demons alone . . . and they will have to face down an enemy that could consume them...and the entire world.

A fast paced romantic suspense novel! Nick Mancino has left the FBI and now works for ASI. He and Kay Hudson have been dancing around an attraction. As for the romance, definitely steamy, but I would hope two adults would think to discuss birth control before rather than after. Overall, a good read I would recommend. Thanks to the author for a review copy.

First, the name was an excellent choice. Fever, indeed. This is tighter storystelling than the previous two instalments in the series. Action-packed on both of the protagonists' fronts, especially towards the end. Thus the ending was satisfying (if not *too* tidying), but not as "abrupt" as many readers said. I liked both Kay and Nick (Tom Cruise's character in THE MUMMY, which I saw yesterday, was also called "Nick", what a coincidence!). Kay, in particular, never had a TSTL moment. Also, I see a trend that LMR is moving from RS to almost-thriller, judging by (dead) body count. But I'm happy that the threat in the current story had a sense of imminence and sounded very real. Gripping is the word to describe the reading experience. So, the next story is Matt's?

Finished this book feeling as if I really could have skipped it. I liked Nick and had looked forward to the continuation of his and Kay's story first glimpsed in Midnight Promises. Kay was interesting and I appreciated that she was a genius in the STEM field. I hope that more authors write characters like Kay. There was way too much internal musing by the main characters and Nick's centred almost exclusively on his dick and his guns. The result was a tough sell that these two connected on any real emotional level. An interesting chatacter was introduced so wondering if this series will continue with his story.
