This is the first book that I've read by Brinda Berry and once again, I broke my own rule about not starting a series in the middle. But this time, it really couldn't be helped. When I saw that The Fiction of Forever had a feel similar to The Bachelor, I just knew that I had to pick this bad-boy up even if it meant jumping into a series where I hadn't read the previous novels. I loved the beginning of the book, it's a look back at how close Gunner and Kiley (almost) were in high school. It gave an interesting spin on what I already was expecting to be a good book. While I love the present day part of the book, I do wish that there was a bit more of that beginning! It was interesting getting to see where Kiley and Gunner had come from and it just wasn't enough. Well, technically, I guess it WAS enough since it made me blow through the rest of the book in record time. If that is what the author was going for, she knocked it out of the park. You're left with so many questions after that first chapter and it pushes you to speed read because you just have to know what happens to them. I liked the characters a lot ... Kiley was this strong female lead (which is always appreciated) and Gunner is a man's man who has a hardened heart that you just want to jump into the pages and thaw. It was a sweet combination and I looked forward to interactions between them because they were always so filled with sexual tension and apprehension and hope. If you're picking this one up because of The Bachelor connection (like I did), you won't be disappointed but The Fiction of Forever won't be what you are expecting. I didn't feel like the book was about the show that they were on, it took a backseat to the relationship between Gunner and Kiley. That's not a bad thing, I don't think. It just shows that the author respected the characters and wanted to actually give you an experience about them and not just use the book to talk about this show. That sounds a little weird, right? Well, I think that some authors write for the plot, where what happens in the story is the most important thing to the story and then some authors write for the characters where what happens with the characters is the most important. I don't think that either way is wrong, I just prefer when the characters take priority. I know that I'll read another book by this author in the future. I'm curious as to what the rest of this series looks like because I don't recall anything about another couple that could have been involved in the first story, so I'm just not sure how it all connects. Anyhow, it was a good book and an easy read! * I received this novel in exchange for an honest review * Check out more of my reviews at Little Miss Bookmark!

Now he has come face to face with that very same girl and somehow got roped into staring in her daddy's popular dating show. That’s what you do when you love all of an author’s work. What can I say…that’s just how I roll. But seriously, this book was such a delight to read. It was fun in all the right spots, romantic when needed, and had me smiling throughout the entire read. I loved every single thing about it. Especially the characters. I now have a huge crush on Gunner. He is that perfect male: sweet without trying to be, a country boy, and sexy as hell. Both Kiley and Gunner have a lot of issues that they will have to work through and overcome. It definitely isn't one of those things that have two people who once had feelings for each other reuniting and all is right in the world. Oh no. It isn't that cut and dry. But when is it ever? A very cute aspect of the story was the dating show. I adored it. Of course, having loved The Bachelor in the past, I found it easy to fall into step with the storyline. The show plays a huge part in the book but doesn't hijack it. There are plenty of wonderful scenes throughout the story. It all meshed very well together, giving us a fabulous read. I am smitten once again with Berry and her beautiful imagination and memorable characters. I will gladly read anything this author has to offer. Wonderful, intriguing and charming...THE FICTION OF FOREVER is absolutely reread worthy. And that doesn't happen very often with me. 5 Stars!

Told from dual points of view, The Fiction of Forever follows the story of Gunner and Kiley. Gunner has had a thing for Kiley for as long as he can remember. The two of them shared a magical night together, but were torn away by a big misunderstanding. And for Gunner, Kiley will always be the one that got away. It will be many years before these two are reunited....On the outside, Kiley appears to have everything she could want: money, a handsome fiancee' and an upcoming wedding. But, Kiley wants more for herself. She doesn't want to settle down and be a good little housewife. She wants to work and make a name for herself. So, when an opportunity to be a matchmaker on her father's show comes up, she can't turn it down. She was born to do this. Too bad her fiancee' doesn't agree. When things fall apart, the last thing she expected was for Gunner to be back in her life. Gunner knows that Kiley is the one for him and he isn't about to let her walk out of his life again. However, this second chance isn't going to come easy. Somehow, Gunner has found himself as the bachelor on Kiley's show. Will Gunner be able to make Kiley open her eyes and see what's always been there between the two of them? Or will Kiley end up finding Gunner his true match and lose him forever? You'll just have to read to find out. I have to say, I really enjoyed The Fiction of Forever. The Fiction of Forever is the second book in the Stand By Me series, but can totally be read as a stand-alone. I thought that this book was well written and very entertaining. It pulled me in from the very first page and I devoured it in just a few hours. This book made me laugh. I loved the chemistry between Gunner and Kiley. I thought they had really great push and pull. I couldn't wait for the two of them to find their way together. Overall, this book was just a really enjoyable read. It had some drama, but nothing over the top. And it had just the right mix of love and romance. And you can't go wrong with the dating game angle. Nothing makes you realize what you want, than almost loosing it!! This is my first book by this author, and I have to say it won't be my last. I'm really looking forward to reading more from this author in the future. *I was provided an ARC copy of this book, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review*

For Gunner, she was the girl of his dreams- everything he could have ever wanted. They get a chance to explore their feelings one night, an experience that will be seared into their memories, forever. Before they can see whether a relationship can blossom and where it may lead them, fate intervenes and Gunner seems to vanish without any explanation. Fast Forward several years and we find Gunner has become a successful landscaper with his own thriving business. He has moved back to Nashville and is hired by Kiley’s father to do some landscaping at his stately home. Kiley has recently been cast in her father’s reality/dating show ‘Forever’ (similar to The Bachelor) as the matchmaker and wants to make a name for herself. She is engaged, with her wedding only weeks away. A chance encounter reconnects them both, and Gunner finds himself agreeing to be the new bachelor on her show. She is excited because she thinks he will increase the ratings of the show. But he sees it as his second chance with Kiley. Her relationship with her controlling fiancé isn’t going well and Kiley decides to break off her engagement. This manoeuvres her into the arms of Gunner. Their chemistry is intense and they both try to fight their attraction. Gunner has issues from his past that leave him with no desire for love or marriage and Kiley has already been hurt by him once and isn’t sure she can trust him again and is also worried about the show’s integrity. Kiley’s job is to find compatible women to match him with. Gunner ends up subconsciously comparing the women with Kiley and finds something ‘wrong’ with all of them. She starts to wonder about the possibility of him finding his true match and the possibility of losing him all over again. When a social media controversy brings a lot of chaos- the misunderstandings have the potential to tear them apart. Will they find their true match in each other, or will fate one again intervene? Ms. Berry has written a very funny, light-hearted, romantic, and quite entertaining story. I found her concept and story were quite original- the idea of using the game show as a backdrop to her storyline was quite genius. The characters were well written, fully developed and likeable. I love the witty banter and the hilarious internal dialogue. It has a fast pace and flows well. An overall easy read, I read it in a few hours. The story is told from a duel POV- Kiley and Gunner’s. The backstory is told in the form of flash backs. It can be read as a standalone, as it ends in a H.E.A. A reality TV show, quirky and funny ‘contestants’, a sexy bachelor in love with the host, a few misunderstandings, social media interest and past issues to contend with; and you have the recipe for a great story. I will be interested in reading the rest of the series. Thank you Ms. Berry!

Kiley is now engaged to a uptight man who set in his ways named mason all he wants is a trophy wife while he goes around being a lawyer flying to different countries leaving Kiley behind, but see he don't want Kiley working he want her at home raising his children living off allowance that he provides so basically stripping her of her independence which she doesn't want she wants to work and be her own person even when shes married equal partnership which I think all this breaks to her sudden panic attack while trying her wedding dress on she just wants it off can't breath feel suffocated but mason wouldn't know because once again he's away on business leaving her once again. When gunner sees Kiley again while hes working on the landscaping at her dad's property (gunner owns his own successful landscaping business) but all he sees now when he look at her is a spoilt rich kid who’s in a completely different world to him she seems to be nothing like the girl he was into back in the day, but after a while he comes to realise there's way more to Kiley that meets the eye she's not a spoilt rich girl he first assumes which is great considering they start spending a lot more time together. Kiley and mason have a huge fight which brings her to tell her fiancé where to go shes had enough but with that she goes running into the arms of no other then gunner. There's one HUGE problem with Kiley getting close him the job shes recently got working on her dad's show forever where she is a matchmaker helping a bachelor find his compatible woman which is great cause shes been excited to do this show but the bachelor is none other than gunner parish which means she has to put her heart on the back burner. Will gunner follow his heart or will the show rip them apart once again before they really get started…. I really enjoyed this novel the story is beautifully written and a amazing original storyline I was hooked from the start to the very end. It's a lighthearted sweet sexy read and you definitely will not be disappointed. Awesome job brinda once again. Wonderful!!!!

4 Star Review Fiction of Forever is a lighthearted, funny, and sexy novel by Brinda Berry. It is the second book in the Stand by Me series, but can be read as a standalone. The characters are very well developed and the writing is fantastic! I was so engrossed in the characters, that I read this in one sitting because I had to see what would happen next. It is the second book in the Stand by Me series, but can be read as a standalone. The characters are very well developed and the writing is fantastic! I was so engrossed in the characters, that I read this in one sitting because I had to see what would happen next. Gunner has never wanted to date, get engaged, and definitely doesn’t want to get married, but when Kiley, the one who got away, reappears in his life as an adult, he is determined that he won’t let her get away again. “I know it sounds crazy, but I’ve spent my whole life waiting for you. I’m begging you to take a chance on me.” But, Kiley has plans for Gunner-plans that involve her doing her job as matchmaker for a hit reality television show and finding Gunner a woman he wants to marry. She’s determined that with the right woman, he will change his feelings and will be so consumed by love that he will want nothing more than to get married. “I’ve had this image of what true love is supposed to be-the kind of love that you feel in your bones as you drift off to sleep. The kind that follows you safe and sound into your dreams. The kind where people care more about each other than themselves. Sacrifice.” With hidden cameras everywhere, Gunner is supposed to play by the rules, but he sure doesn’t want to. Since his childhood, Kiley has been the one girl he’s ever desired and seeing her as an adult has just fueled the fire within him even more. He doesn’t like any of the women that she’s matching him with. He wants her and only her. When the media gets footage of things that were never supposed to be released publically, is it too much for Kiley? Even though he’s rugged, sexy as sin, and whispers sweet nothings in her ear, is she willing to compromise her job for the man who says he doesn’t believe in love? “You haven’t changed one bit. You were a broody, sulky teenage boy who stopped speaking to me all of a sudden. I’m seeing that same sulky boy all grown up.” I highly recommend Fiction of Forever if you’re looking for a fabulous adult contemporary romance novel filled with off the charts chemistry and witty banter. I absolutely fell in love with her characters and the beauty of her words and I’ve already one clicked other books by Brinda Berry.

Sometimes you need a second chance, a little growing up and some perspective before you realize what it is you really want in life, or more like who it is you want in life. This book was a great example of second chances coming around and giving two people a chance. The author did a really great job at keeping you entertained throughout the whole book. I don’t think I’ve ever had a book that made me tear up in one chapter and right after in the next make me laugh so hard people looked at me like I was crazy. We meet Kiley and Gunner starting with their brief encounter when they were in high school and later in the future. There were a lot of flashbacks which I appreciated because it showed you how much these two were in each other’s lives or what made them the way they are today. It was interesting to see the things they did or happened in the past. Kiley is now in a relationship that doesn’t seem to fit her as they both want very different things. Then of course Gunner walks in and everything changes even more. What is super cute about this book and it’s a little different is that they throw in a matchmaking reality TV game which Gunner agrees to being a part of. The relationship between Gunner and Kiley grow further and with all the drama that surrounds them because of their positions on the show it gets hectic really quickly but entertaining. The two of them definitely have great character and I love Kylie’s father, he just seems like he wants to do right by his daughter, definitely a sweet man. There are some really interesting people that are chosen for Gunner to date too, again some of them had me dying from laughter. But it’s their chemistry that keeps this book going strong. I love seeing relationships spark up and go in the right direction. So if you like reality tv, great writing and some real emotions you will love this book because it will keep you entertained. Great summer reading on the beach, just beware someone will look at you funny when you start laughing, that’s all I’m saying. Love the cover, I need me a landscaper like that to stare at every once in a while. The cover is definitely what caught my interest first and then the concept just cinched it.

She is trying to get ready for a party she is having at her house when she comes across him. She knows that she knows him but from where? What will happen when she finds out he is an old schoolmate? When they come to a compromise, what will happen between them? Is she as untouchable as he thinks she is? What will happen if she gives in to him? Will she follow through on her plans? Will she prove she is more then just a spoiled daughter? Gunnar Parrish is a young man who has just moved back to Nashville, has had a crush on her forever. There will be no one else for him but her. When she challenges him to take a spot on a show she is hosting, will he take it? He knows that she is off limits but will he convince her that what she really wants is more? Will she get him to play by her rules? Kiley and Gunnar's story is one of second chances and realizing what you really want. Their story will take you on a journey that you will want to ride along on, just to see what happens with them. What will happen to them when the media shows their face? Will they let each other get away or will they take their second chance? This is my second read by Brinda Berry. Brinda lives in southern US with her family. She loves to surf the internet, writing and to laugh. She writes about strong women and swoon worthy men. She loves peanut butter cookies, flip flops and good friends. This story is a fast reading story that you will want to read until the last page in one sitting. I know that you will love Kiley and Gunnar as I have. I highly suggest this story as I know you will enjoy it as much as I have.

His mother has cancer and she needs him so he drops everything including the girl of his dreams in order to be there. Kiley is left torn when she doesn’t hear from Gunner the days after the bonfire, he has moved away and she has no idea why. Years later and Gunner is running his own landscape business but keeps his distance from women as he knows he is not the type to settle down as people only leave you when you give them your all. Kiley is getting prepared for her wedding, but she is having doubts, not sure her fiancée is the one after he warns her against partaking in her father’s reality show. When the two of them meet again, sparks fly but not for the right reason, Gunner thinks Kiley is stuck up and she thinks he is an A**hole. Fate is bigger than them and they are set for each other even if they don’t know it and all is not as it appears Kiley’s character is headstrong and loving to a fault but with a distant father she keeps making the wrong decisions in life. Jenna her cousin and partner in crime is her confidant and together they conclude what a mess her life is. She just wants someone to love her and be there as a partner in life, she has some emotional moments with her father during the story and he comes right in the end. Gunner is strong willed and has the definite idea that love is not for him and nothing will change this, however he does not count on how strong his feelings are. This story was funny and a different scenario than others I have read that gave it the something extra needed. The relationship was no smooth sailing, but It was great to see the other sides of these two characters. Leave the cats and your mime act at home..

Her life is changed when she walks away from him. The first quote I chose for her shows the feelings she's hiding: "I hope I can lie well enough on-screen to hide my feelings. I’m falling hard for Gunner and no one can know." The second quote is him saying what she knew back then: “In private, I tease that she knew I was husband material in the second grade. In private, I tell her how she saved me from a lonely life.” Gunner is the one who has had a thing for her since grade school. He left when his mom passed away and now he's back and working on her lawn. His life is changed when he says he'll be on the show only to realize how he feels about her. The first quote I chose for him is him being sparky when they first see each other:“You’re doing fine. At this rate, I’ll be joining a monastery. A monk with a bankroll.” The second quote shows how he feels about her: “I can’t promise you that I’ll be easy. I need to take this slow. People in relationships need to spend more than four weeks to get to know each other. But I’m not letting you get away. I know it sounds crazy, but I’ve spent my whole life waiting for you. I’m begging you to take a chance on me. I’m sorry I don’t know how to say all the romantic things, you’ll have to teach me. I’m trying to figure it all out. I even watched The Princess Bride to see what this Westley guy is all about.” This is the first book I've read by Berry. I really liked everything about the book. I felt so much hurt and happiness throughout the book. I was instantly in the book from the beginning. I highly recommend this if you like match making love stories. Check out this amazing author, series and any books she has.

Gunner had a wonderful childhood, with a mother who loved him dearly. He crushed on a girl in high school and couldn't believe how lucky he was that she felt the same way about him. Gunner's mother dies from cancer and his father moves them far away from the girl he crushed on after his dad met a woman online. From there his childhood goes to hell and the happiness he once knew is lost. Gunner has sworn off women and love, believing that nothing good could come from marriage. Kiley is engaged to a control freak; one who believes that she should give everything up and that her only job should be as his wife. With a wedding only weeks away, Kiley finally realizes that she will never be happy if she marries Mason. With Gunner's assistance, she breaks up with Mason and is determined to move forward with her life. Gunner ends up on the matchmaking show that Kiley is hosting (think The Bachelor); Kiley's job is to find Gunner a woman to marry. Gunner is convinced she won't be able to find anyone for him to marry since he has no desire to fall in love. He Kiley doesn't find him a woman he will fall in love with by the end of the show, Gunner will receive one million dollars. What no one counts on is the incredible chemistry between Kiley and Gunner. The two try to fight their attraction for one other: Gunner because he doesn't want to fall in love and Kiley because she is concerned about the integrity of the show. This was a cute, romantic read with some light comedy mixed in. Both characters were easily likable; the reader could easily feel for both of their pasts. I really felt for Gunner; at one point he was willing to give up everything to make Kiley happy yet was still in complete denial that he loved her. He was so convinced that he couldn't fall in love that he failed to recognize what was right in front of him the entire time. ** ARC received from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review **

After that night, the two went their separate ways – not talking, calling, texting. Time passes and Gunner becomes a successful business owner of a landscaping company. This is how he finds himself face to face with want-to-be television star, Kiley again. He is working for engaged Kiley’s dad on the family property. Kiley needs him out of her way, and his mess cleaned up NOW, so she can get ready for her high maintenance fiancées, Masons, party on short notice. Gunner is puzzled as to why this is such a crisis, but begrudging obliges. The night of the party, Gunner quickly realizes that Kiley’s fiancée is no picnic. As the evening drones on and matters get more heater, Kiley is done with Mason, and the escapes with Gunner. While, to some, this may seem like the second chance they have been wanting for, this just isn’t it. Instead, Kiley decides to put him on her dating show and try to match him with the best woman for his future. However, Gunner can only compare all these women to Kiley; and Kiley finds herself growing increasingly jealous each time Gunner spends time with a woman. The question is – who will win? Television or real life? Passion or money? True love is never easy. This is Brinda Berry’s second book in her Stand by Me series. She manages to elicit laughter, frustration, and tension from her readers right along with her characters – making them relatable and interesting. The best part about this book, while it is part of a series – it can completely be read as a stand alone!

Gunner is tempting Kiley around every corner. They each have their own pasts with truths and supposed truths. Can they each really set aside their differences to complete their contract or will the left over start from years ago hit them head on? The Fiction of Forever is the second book in the Stand By Me series by Brinda Berry. This is my first book by this author. The story line has solid merit following two individuals who seemed to have that chemistry, but had the chance taken away. Fate decides to deal them a second chance, but are they willing to take the leap of faith needed to grasp on to what they want even when it may not be what they expected? I enjoyed reading this story. After finishing, I want to go back and read the first book in this series. There is potential for improvement in the story-line to add more depth, but it does not deter from the story or the ending that was given.

The Fiction of Forever is about non believer of happily ever afters, Gunner and fairy tale dreaming Riley. Gunner and Riley have known each other since elementary school. They started crushing on each other shortly after that, but each one didn’t know how the other felt until high school. One night at a party and everything changes. Some miscommunication and tragic life events makes for regrets and misunderstandings. But as adults can things be fixed? Or are they destined to just be friends? I loved the characters of Gunner and Riley, at the beginning, when they were young and innocent. As adults there were a little too real, not very nice and a little jaded, but I guess that means that Brinda Berry did a good job describing them. She also made me fall for Gunner and Riley! Know what else Berry did? She created evil characters too. Ones you really want to throat punch! “If I don’t keep my hands busy, I may succumb to punching him in the throat for the feminist remark.” This story is set in a reality TV series. Riley is the co host who's trying to find Gunner’s forever love. Berry has written some interesting twists that keep you guessing. Will Gunner find his forever? Is it Riley? I highly recommend this book! And if the other stories are even close to being this good, I can’t wait to read them!
