CHRISTMAS CAPTIVE is the sixth book in Ms. Johnson's Men of Valor book but it completely stands alone. Other books in the series (in case you want to read them all are: A Promise to Protect, SEAL Under Siege, Navy SEAL Noel, Navy SEAL Security, Hazardous Holiday and CHRISTMAS CAPTIVE. I loved, loved, loved, the Coast Guard presence in this book and almost cheered when the call came. "This is the United States Coast Guard. Prepare to be boarded." If you like Romantic Suspense, you will want to read CHRISTMAS CAPTIVE. I was given a copy of this book free. All opinions are my own.

There are maybe four or five pages in this novel before the action starts and it keeps right on coming! Liz Johnson is great here. A DEA agent and SEAL try to stop a kidnapping on board a cruise ship. Nowhere to go, not many places to hide, and seemingly no help to be had. What a ride! Recommended. *I was given a preview copy of this book. My opinion is entirely my own.

Kidnapping on a cruise ship, a handsome Navy Seal, Christmas, a wedding, strong, likable characters all rolled into one great book. I enjoyed this one! This is book 6 in the Men of Valor series, however each book stands alone, unconnected to any previous ones. I recommend them all.

Taut. Tense. Breath-snatching. Adrenaline rushing. Page turning perfection. And that's just the romance. Seriously. There's something incredibly edgy about limiting the action to the confines of a cruise ship -- and despite those restrictions there is plenty of action! Lots of cat-and-mouse chases and danger around every corner. Oh -- and macabre humour at the most inopportune times. Loved that the most....though I choked more than once when I tried to gasp and laugh at the same time, so be forewarned. A heart-stopping romantic suspense that belongs on every reader's keeper shelf. It's that awesomesauce good.

Navy Seal to the rescue aboard a cruise ship, as Jordan and Amy rush the decks and halls trying to locate Amy’s kidnapped little niece, and find out who the bad guys were and who was assisting them. A special wedding is about to take place on a ship that carries only the wedding party. When trouble breaks out, the only ones prepared are the terrorists. Though the maid of honor is a DEA agent named Amy Delgado and the best man is a SEAL named Jordan Somerton, no one on the cruise is prepared for the danger. What makes the now unforeseen mission tougher is that army and Jordan have a past that they either must put behind them or allow to keep them from rescuing a little kidnapped girl and catch those responsible. Each book is a standalone and very entertaining to read. Whether one has a little or a lot of time, these books are worth reading and sharing with family and friends!

Why would someone want to pull off a crime on such a confined space? Will they get away with it? DEA agent Amy Delgado is the maid of honor for her best friend Neesha and is delighted to do this for her. However, she isn’t as excited to see Navy SEAL Jordan Somerton on board as best man. Since he is practically a brother to Neesha instead of a cousin, she knew he would be here. Now how is she to ignore him the entire cruise. After all, he stood her up on a date and then embarrassed her in front of his family. She would just do her duty and stay with Neesha and the flower girl who happens to be her niece Elaina. She would spend time with her brother Michael and Elaina while she could. Jordan Somerton is just as excited as Amy is to see her. He has apologized to her but can’t explain why he stood her up as it is top secret. He also can’t let on that he knows her brother as they supposedly have never met. Jordan spends a lot of his time aboard boats and isn’t thrilled about being on a cruise ship. However, for his cousin, he will do his best. Amy and Jordan are forced to work together when Elaina is kidnapped and Amy is beaten and kidnapped. Amy managed to figure a way out of her enclosure; but can’t find Elaina. They must also figure out why she is being kidnapped so they can think like the kidnappers. Can they do this in a way as to not disturb the other passengers and mess up Neesha’s wedding?

I always enjoy Liz Johnson’s books and this one is no exception! I’ve been anxiously awaiting Jordan and Amy’s book and couldn’t wait to get started! I first met Amy in “Navy SEAL Noel” and knew she was going to be perfect with Jordan, who held a special place in my heart after seeing him with Kristi and Zach’s son in “Hazardous Holiday.” I love how all of the Men of Valor books connect, but can also be read alone (although why anyone wouldn’t want to read the rest of the series is beyond me). As always, Ms. Johnson drew me in right from the start and I didn’t want to put it down! I was quickly absorbed in the story and hated having to pause for even a few moments. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense, how she kept the story hopping, even when they actually had a calm moment. My favorite part is always the characters, and that’s definitely accurate with this book! I so enjoyed getting to know Amy and Jordan and finally getting the back story behind the animosity between them. I loved that Jordan’s random jokes made me laugh, during an otherwise suspenseful story and seeing these two finally get their “happily ever after.” The romance surprisingly didn’t feel rushed, despite the story taking place over only a couple days, but it definitely helped that Amy and Jordan had a past to connect them. And those kisses! *sigh* I also very much appreciated how much spiritual depth Ms. Johnson was able to include in this comparatively short novel. I enjoyed watching the characters as they grew and changed, learning to forgive and to truly live, without fear. Overall, I loved this story and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys suspense and romance!

This book follows the two of them as they are on a cruise ship for Neesha’s wedding. Dancing together as best man and maid of honor just might end up being the least of their worries. Jordan loves his family. Even if at times their meddling has caused more than a little stress. Hoping that everyone will be focused on his cousin and her soon to be husband, he hopes he can sit back and relax. Seeing Amy all dressed up and beautiful, just might throw a wrench in his plans. When criminals set their sights on the flower girl all his feelings are thrown aside. Can Jordan and Amy get along for long enough to find who’s behind the danger? Or are there more sinister plans in motion that the criminals will do anything to make sure they are successful? I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great suspenseful read. I was kept on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who was causing so many problems and why. It was fun seeing Amy and Jordan learn to lean on each other. I liked watching as they struggled with forgiveness and learning to let go of the past to see what is right in front of you. When Amy’s niece is kidnapped, everything goes from bad to worse and the two are forced to work together to rescue her and protect the ship’s passengers. It doesn’t take very long for the suspense to get started in “Christmas Captive” and the action doesn’t stop until it reaches the end. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how Jordan and Amy put aside their differences to work together against a group of terrorists. There were some very creative scenes as they were forced to use their creativity to try and stop the bad guys without any weapons. There was one character who made me want to shake him but that just added another layer to the story. A combination of faith and determination served Jordan and Amy well and the crisis had a predictable yet satisfactory ending. “Christmas Captive” was a great read that is perfect for anytime of the year even if it does take place at Christmas. A relatively short read, it would be perfect for a long winter evening by the fireside. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by Litfuse Publicity. A favorable review was not required. Navy Seal Jordan Somerton was resolved to enjoy his cousin's wedding on a Christmas cruise. He wasn't expecting to have to put his skills to use saving the flower girl from international terrorists set on kidnapping her. He also wasn't expecting to run into Amy Delgado, DEA agent, and someone Jordan had hoped to know better when they were younger until a misunderstanding stopped any idea of that happening. There is just something about Navy Seals...at least for me. I get a little hesitant reading stories involving military themes because sometimes authors just butcher them with too many inconsistencies and so forth. I have never been on a cruise ship but people who have tell me it is huge and there are so many different locations and ways to get there. Liz did a wonderful job crafting a story where two characters worked together to face an unknown enemy in a rather confined space, using their military/law enforcement background. I never like to give away the plot in a review but if you like suspense and you love military themes, you will love this book! Please check it out when it releases in early October! I doubt you will be disappointed. I did receive an advance copy but in no way did I allow that to color my review.

Christmas Captive by Liz Johnson was a fantastic end to the Men of Valor series. Six men, Navy SEALs, who made an oath to protect and serve all find love. Jordan Somerton may have been the odd man out for sometime while all of his teammates found love, but in the end, he got the girl too. Amy Delgado is the perfect match for Jordan. She's tough and determined, and yet she also has a soft side to her as well. Both Jordan and Amy had dads that weren't present for two very different reasons. In Jordan's mind, he never wanted to do that to the woman he loved, so he thought keeping his distance was the better option. Oh, how he had been wrong. Amy set him straight. She told him that yes, he did have a dangerous job, but as a DEA agent, so did she. They figured out that they were better together.

I think it's tough to do romantic suspense well in the page limit of Love Inspired Suspense, but this one did a good job. The "classified" aspects of their work (SEALs, DEA, and Ambassador) means that they don't connect all the dots behind the whys until at about 2/3rds of the way through the book. It also creates a gulf between Amy and Jordan that he can't explain. Both had problems with fathers leaving them as kids. Amy's father made promises that he rarely kept. Jordan's father was a police officer who died in the course of duty, prompting his mother to descend into a depression that she never came back from. So they're both struggling with issues that influence their relationship with each other. .

How Liz works out the rescue in a situation where both Jordan and Amy are unarmed and without their backup teams is pretty darn amazing. I am a little sad to be saying goodbye to SEAL team fifteen, but it’s been a good journey and this installment wraps it up and ties it with a bow. Thanks, Liz, for another great read. PS: Favorite line? "Safety's on."

Liz Johnson packs a load of suspense, intrigue, action, and a dash of heart-pumping romance into the last book in her Men of Valor series, Christmas Captive. The main characters, navy SEAL Jordan Somerton and DEA agent Amy Delgado, have a past which complicates their involvement in the wedding taking place on a cruise ship. The action jumped right in at the beginning of the story and kept me on the edge of my seat until the conclusion. This is part of a series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone book. I would recommend it to those who enjoy well-written, clean, Christian romantic suspense. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from the author/publisher. All opinions are my own.

First, I will say I was given a complimentary copy of this book to read and give my honest review. I am a huge fan of Liz Johnson's books. This one did not disappoint!! The setting is an unusual one which seems like it would make it harder to write. The story is intriguing, mysterious, heart pounding , diplomatic and full of unexpected twists. From the first few pages you are clamoring to figure out who dunnit!! There is also some romance included. I love that she is using Seals as our heroes. Heart pounding, fast paced, and well written. Liz Johnson doesn't fail to deliver in her latest installment to the Men of Valor series. Not your typical Christmas read, as it is action packed and you don't want to put it down until you find out who is behind the kidnapping. I tried working in my garden and had to come finish it. It has some developing romance and faith amidst the action. I loved the back stories on Amy and Jordan which explains why they react to each other in the way they do. Fast-paced and not too heavy despite the ongoing mortal peril the main characters are embroiled in. Amy and Jordan are well-developed, likable characters. (Hard not to like a Navy SEAL who's principled, skilled, respectful and good-looking to boot.) The obstacles to their getting together seemed a little superficial to me at first, but once the characters' backstories were revealed, their objections made more sense. The Christmas setting is incidental to the storyline, so I didn't get that "Chris Fast-paced and not too heavy despite the ongoing mortal peril the main characters are embroiled in. Christmas cruise filled with mystery... A wedding party, a cruise ship, and a mystery. This book is filled with romantic suspense and action that kept my attention throughout. Jordan, a SEAL and Amy, a DEA agent must work together after bad history, and the fireworks fly. Love the characters and mystery. You'll want to read all of Liz Johnson's Men of Valor series. Great romantic suspense. It can be read as a standalone, too. Christmas cruise filled with mystery... A wedding party, a cruise ship, and a mystery.
