    Jessica Broockerd

Jessica Broockerd Poetry A book of poems written by people of all ages from across the country, this anthology deals with multiple topics: loss of love, a beach outing, death, life, driving down the road, etc. Obviously amateur poetry, with constraints on the amount that could be submitted. There are no obvious connections, no set meter or rhyme scheme. Some are structured poems, some rhyme, other are not. An interesting read.

I am actually published in this book, and don't feel right giving a rating since the only poem I have read in it thus far is my own.

So proud to be one of the many published poets in this book. My grandmother inspired me to write, and ever since then, my love for writing poetry has got me through some not so great moments. I'm glad I can share this accomplishment with my children. Great job poets! 👍✨✨

I did not expect to see my writing on the first page. It was nice to open the hard covered bound copy and see it right off. Everybody should have a chance to write creatively. Then enjoy seeing their work, only for but a moment, in a hard covered compilation. Excellent writings from all the authors I read in this book. I enjoyed reading them!

Always enjoy reading the poems of other poets. It's all about the words! I don't always get the gist of some of the poems, but they mean something to someone, and that's what matters.

I love this book of poetry. Not just because one of my own poems is in it, but also because the rest of the poetry in this book speaks to me. This book has poetry about love, loss, happiness, pain. All of the good and bad that things that make life worth living. The people's who's poems are in this book, share their struggles. Struggles with life, love and everything in between. The poems in this book give us hope and confidence that we can get through our pain and sadness and all the other strug I love this book of poetry. There are poems about pets, about joy and grief meshing as one, and tearing at your soul. I love the poem about the son and the father, where the father describes just how amazing the mother is. It talks about guilt, and losing a loved one. There are poems about the courage to try something new, poems with courage about losing weight and becoming the person you most want to be and know you can be. I love the poem about the woman being with her dog when she (the dog) dies. It's both sad and amazing to see someone who loves their dog just like family. So read this book if you need a good laugh, a good cry, or just need something to get you to smile and loosen up for a while. This book has poems for everyone and you won't regret reading it.

Eventhough I am a published poet in this collaberation of poetry (A Summer's Night Swim) and feel as though my work is up to par, I was disappointed with many of the other works within the book. Some works were simply not spell checked or property edited. When producing this book, each poet was required to edit their own work. When I veiwed this book, it was very upsetting to see that some poets didn't seem to care as much about their work as I feel they should have.

I'm still not over the fact that my own poem is in here! It's more than likely cringeworthy for me now, but since I don't know where my own copy is to prove or disprove this theory, I do remember that many of the poems were beautifully written and poignant. I need to find this and reread it since it has been many years and I'm quite a bit older now. I feel like age probably makes a difference with the understanding and significance of each.

I purchased and read this book for an old friend that added it to his "want to reads" and passed away shortly after. I took away from this book more than I expected.
