I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review. Well. Well. Sorry, I can't rate this very high, can I now? It is practically the same story as Mouseford Academy #7. Boyband comes to Whale Island: Check. Talent show to perform the opening act: Check. Vanilla ruining everything and be pissed off: Check. Who wins?: Check for most. There are some changes there, but really, it ends as the other book ended. Sorry, but can't you even make a decent new story? Who wins?: Check for most. There are some changes there, but really, it ends as the other book ended. Sorry, but can't you even make a decent new story? I know that there are A LOT of Thea Stilton books, but so far it seems the writers are doing a terrific good job at making sure each book has something new and fresh. Not to mention, as I have said in other reviews for graphic novels: The art of a graphic novel can make and break it. This one however is going for the breaking it. The art was not good. Really, it was not. I was looking forward to the gorgeous illustrations the books have these days, but instead I got something that was even worse than the first art of the books. Considering the cover I had expected we would get the art that is presented there. Don't be fooled potential buyers of this book. This cover art is not what you will get as art in the book. Not at all. As we Dutch people would say: Ik kwam thuis van een koude kermis. Which means something as coming home disappointed. I didn't even recognise Colette at all. I even showed other people the art from this graphic novel and how Colette was supposed to look (according to all the books), and they didn't even recognise her and wondered what had happened to her. Not only because of her art, oh no. It is just not Colette. One she doesn't play guitar, she is the main singer, but apparently in this one the main singer is Nicki and Colette just grabs a guitar and sings a few words here and there. Two, what happened to all her pinkness? She adores pink, but she barely wears it here. Most of her outfits were BLUE. And yes, she often wears a blue top, but not everything is blue, she prefers pink. And with the exception of maybe a few accessories (like a scarf or socks) there was a distinct lack of pink. And no, that striped dress is lila/purple + blue. Which is totally weird. Plus I don't think she would wear the clothes she wore in this one. She is pretty fashion-minded, and no offence, but these are not super fashionable items to wear. And whereas the book actually had them struggling to form a band, here it seems they just grabbed some equipment and done. They also didn't seem to have any problems with creating a song. I know the Thea Sisters are pretty magical, but this magical? No. I was really looking forward to this story, and while I did enjoy the talent show, it was just a rehashed scenario so I was bored. It is such a shame, I was really looking forward to reading it. Review first posted https://twirlingbookprincess.com/

A Song for Thea Sisters is a well-drawn graphic novel aimed at middle-grade readers. It is the seventh in a series but stands alone fairly well. I imagine you'd get more from it if you understood how the Thea Sisters got to where they were, or even which one was which, but it's not necessary. A Song for Thea Sisters tells a simple story with themes of working together, overcoming obstacles, and shows how it's good to be unselfish. It's an entertaining and easy read that even my 8-year-old enjoyed. At 56 pages, it is short enough to suit the attention span of the intended age range. Neither of us (kiddo or I) are rabid fans after reading A Song for Thea Sisters, but we'd pick up another book if we saw it at the library. In the meantime, though, we're more inclined to stick with the Geronimo Stilton series. Disclaimer: We received a free copy of this book via Netgalley for review consideration. This is my niece's book which I read when I was staying at her house and also in her room, as she'd been booted out to make way for her sainted aunt. This was essentially a book about highschool except with mice instead of humans. The mice have flowing locks! There are mean girl mice, and a mouse boy band! It was OK, there's something about a music competition there, and the mean people get their comeuppance. My niece liked it better than the Geronimo Stilton book she also had by her bed. Shall we say, "mostly harmless"? My copy: actually my niece's copy, I believe it was borrowed from the library.

A rather juicy and entertaining read, this Mouseford Academy tale is all about the teens and their likes, especially boy bands. With a competition thrown in the works to see who would be the best of the lot to open the concert show with the boy band 60 Second of Spring. It germinated a lot of competitiveness along with a lot of jealousy, which left room for all sorts of interesting and amusing mishaps to take place. [Review date: 19th March] Why did I choose this book to read? I saw this book up for request on Netgalley and I thought that the cover looked really fun and decided to request it. The description sounded really sweet as well. Pricing Netgalley lists the pricing as $9.99 What did I think of it? I think this was a really sweet little graphic novel. It teaches some important lessons to children about friendship. It’s also connected to the real life world and this will also help children to connect it to the real world. Did I have any qualms with it? I had no qualms with this little story whatsoever. Would I recommend it and who to? I would definitely recommend this to any parents with children who like reading about music; it’s got such a good moral behind the story. Overall opinion This is a definite winner for me. Thea Stilton has created a wonderful little world that I have personally never been a part of before, but after reading this, I find that I want to go and read the rest of the graphic novel series. It’s a beautiful little story about friendship, and how cheaters don’t win, and I think this is the perfect story for children to read.
