As a working girl myself I don’t have time to join a knitting workshop, so I try learn by reading books and watching videos. I bought this book a few days ago and it turned to be the best Christmas gift I could give myself! From all the knitting books and magazines I’ve ever bought, this is simply the best for a beginner like I am. It’s not only that this book features the knitting basics with step-by-step instructions, it’s the way that it does it. Every chapter includes multiple close range photos to help you understand the instructions. And if you are of those who prefer watching than reading, there are links to respective videos! This book starts with the basics about yarns and needles (even how to hold your needles), and continues with detailed instructions of how to cast on and bind off. It teaches you how to knit different types of stitches (I’d never heard of some of them, the Roman stitches for example, all so easy to do) and it goes on with fancy techniques like lace, dragon fly and peacock stitches along with patterns, like the geometric and rounded ones. But what I found the most useful was the chapter that deciphers the abbreviations for knitting patterns, you know the ones knitting magazines are full of. Reading through this book I had the feeling the author was by my side teaching me personally how to knit stitches and that’s why I loved it so much.

Worthwhile A worthwhile intro to knitting, and importantly contains links to videos. The intro to color work makes this useful even for more experienced knitters.

Great for beginning stitches I chose three stars as after the beginners guide, the instructions weren't as clear or no step by step pictures were included. There were videos for some which was appreciated. I am advanced crocheter, beginner knitter. Was looking to go beyond beginner with more advanced stitches or patterns. There was only a few patterns after all tutorials that only one matched for a beginner. With so many beginner ideas to play with such as face scrubbies, dish cloths ect, I was d Great for beginning stitches I chose three stars as after the beginners guide, the instructions weren't as clear or no step by step pictures were included. With so many beginner ideas to play with such as face scrubbies, dish cloths ect, I was disappointed by lack of variety to practice. This was a Kindle unlimited so I am glad I read before buying. It did have tidbits of good info for a beginner. Thus three stars from me. To make a book to sell, the inside info has to be better than what you can find for free on internet searches. Many bloggers are posting help and patterns for free. I would pay for a good pile of instructions and patterns all in one place. This one only met some of that but I have found better instructions for free.

Like This!!! Great little book! It includes many videos that are so helpful. I can read printed instructions over and over but seeing a technique demonstrated makes everything so much clearer. I have taken classes but if I don't understand what is being demonstrated the first time I get embarrassed and frustrated. Videos are just so much less challenging, they just don't know if I have to watch over and over to get it. Like This!!! Great little book! It includes many videos that are so helpful. Easiest book on beginner knitting I have seen so far. This is an excellent book on beginner knitting. It has lots of pictures to show proper placement of the yarn and the knitting needles. It even has links to click on to go to a video on how to perform the stitch if the pictures alone don't happen to work for you. I just wish I could get it in hardback so I could carry it with me to different locations. I can't always get internet reception for my Kindle. Easiest book on beginner knitting I have seen so far. I like this ebook quite a bit. It's great for beginning and intermediate knitters. It has lots of links to videos on how to do many of the stitches and patterns discussed in the book as well as plenty of pictures. Useful reference book that can be used as a step-by-step method to learn knitting. the videos are helpful, because sometimes the language and illustrations are not quite clear. Best to read on a tablet for this reason.
