It might sound really boring to someone who hasn’t read this series to keep describing more or less the same things happening in this series: Son Goku fights bad guys and wins, then goes to a Strongest Under the Heavens tournament where he and his pals fight others. They have done exactly this three times now. But I can assure you, it’s anything but boring. If a writer has done their job well, then by the 15th volume in a series you’re fully invested in the characters and will read any story the It might sound really boring to someone who hasn’t read this series to keep describing more or less the same things happening in this series: Son Goku fights bad guys and wins, then goes to a Strongest Under the Heavens tournament where he and his pals fight others. They have done exactly this three times now. But I can assure you, it’s anything but boring. If a writer has done their job well, then by the 15th volume in a series you’re fully invested in the characters and will read any story they’re in with delight, so long as you can see those characters - and Akira Toriyama has done a very, very good job with Son Goku and co.! This book is the third Strongest Under the Heavens tournament featuring grown up versions of Goku and Kuririn, and it’s one match after another. Tenshinhan vs. Cyborg Taopaipai (the world’s greatest assassin who fought - and lost - to Goku during the Red Ribbon storyline), Goku vs. Chi-Chi, Kuririn vs. Piccolo Jr, and Yamcha vs. “Shen”. The setup might sound stale but because everyone’s more superpowered than ever - Goku’s fights in particular are fascinating, if only to see what he’s learned in Heaven for three years - the fights are far more imaginative, more energised, faster and exciting than ever to read. Throw in some romance - Chi-Chi makes Goku keep his innocent childhood promise to marry her! - a throwback to the series (Taopaipai) and a surprise in the form of “Shen”, and you’ve got one helluva Dragon Ball book! What I’m in awe of is how Toriyama can go from end of the world storylines like the conclusion of the Piccolo saga in the last book and immediately recapture that sense of urgency in a smaller storyline, like this third tournament arc. The fluidity with which he switches gears between volumes and never loses the reader’s attention or storytelling pace is extraordinary. You rarely see this in serialised comics - the best western example I can think of is Jason Aaron/RM Guera’s Scalped which was a flawless 10 volume series. But Dragon Ball is 42 volumes total!! If you’ve made it this far into the series, you’re absolutely gonna love it. The characters continue to develop well, the stories are as enthralling as ever, and the action keeps getting more compelling. For an all-fighting volume, it’s never brainlessly dumb and the characters and story don’t suffer from the action focus - if anything, they’re enhanced! A martial arts comic is in its element when its got good martial arts, and Dragon Ball has that in bundles. Dragon Ball is perfection in a comic book and volume 15 is just that - onto the final book in the series!

The tournament continues and the epic battles continue, Tien vs Goku was my favorite one, and you see both try different techniques but Goku was still holding back his powers and when he reveals them, the battle becomes so interesting and the art here is so clean and it makes the fight look all the much better! Next up: Piccolo vs God!

Such a great installment!!! So much action and everyone is so grown up. Seeing how much Goku has grown since we last saw him is so astonishing. Before he was a kid who was clueless and now he has honed his craft and is a mighty warrior. Also Chi Chi and Goku have been married!!!! We are so close to the end of the Great Demon Piccolo Arc and the end of Dragon Ball!!

Previously on Dragon Ball, Goku and the gang are in the Tenkaichi Budokai semifinals competing against Taopaipai, Piccolo Jr., a mysterious girl from Goku's past, and Shen who looks like a pathetic fighter but looks can be deceiving. Tenshinhan fights against Taopaipai and it is a bittersweet moment. Tenshinhan has pity on Taopaipai because based from his martial art skills he is no match for Tenshinhan and for Taopaipai he does not care unless he gets to kill him at the end of the battle. Tenshinhan fights against Taopaipai and it is a bittersweet moment. Tenshinhan has pity on Taopaipai because based from his martial art skills he is no match for Tenshinhan and for Taopaipai he does not care unless he gets to kill him at the end of the battle. In the end Tenshinhan kicks Taopaipai into out of bounce and wins the first match. Goku on the other hand fits with this mysterious girl who is angry with him and that feeling will not go away later on. She is no match for Goku and when he wins the match he finds out it is Chichi who is the daughter of the Ox-King. The last time they saw each other, she made innuendos as to Goku asking her hand and since he is oblivious he thought she was talking about food and accepted her hand not realizing it meant marriage. She brings up at the tournament and he reminds the whole event and gladly proposes to her. I do not believe he finds her gorgeous like all the other men who are drooling, I think he is someone who lives in the moment and since he kept a promise to her, he is definitely going to keep it. By having this storyline taken care of it now makes sense how Goku married Chichi and had Gohan. While reading this story I was wondering how the hell did he had a kid if he is oblivious about sex and women which clearly in Dragon Ball Z he still hasn't changed. Kuririn battles Piccolo and it is obvious that Kuririn is no match for Piccolo. I feel bad for Kuririn because he is always makes it to the semifinals and always loses, I hope someday he can win the tournament. You do get to witness some growth in Kuririn's abilities but Piccolo is on a whole different playing field when it comes to defeating Goku. Yamcha fights Shen and he believes it is going to be a piece of cake but Goku notices some distinct energy coming out of Shen that suggest otherwise. Shen acts like an idiot when fighting but he uses the trap to make the opponent believe that he is a worthless fighter and shows his true might which makes Yamcha lose. Goku pieces everything together and realizes that it is God who is taking control of Shen. God believes that Goku is no match for Piccolo and wants to trap Piccolo in a bottle using the Mafuba. Goku fights Tenshinhan again and I believe this time the battle was pathetic. I feel like Tenshinhan actually went backwards with his training and some of the moves that he performed were outdated and easily made Goku find his weak spots and win the match. I wanted it to be intense like the last time but I realize that Goku needs his strength when it comes to Piccolo. Everyone is astounded by Goku skills and I love how over the course of the different matches, Master Roshi is able to notice how Goku is able to fight without barely using his powers and with slowing his heartbeat. by the end of this story we encounter a match between Piccolo and Shen? Who will win in the match between Good vs Evil? Will God be able to destroy Piccolo? Tune in next time on Dragon Ball.

So everyone trained for 3 years and really bulked up. This is the first half of the tournament where we see how far everyone has advanced. It does make me sad to see that Tien had so much potential as a character and yet they went with Yamcha to follow just to use as a joke. Demon Jr (Piccolo) is toying with the mortals however and is amused at how much stronger he is than them. Meanwhile, Goku watches seemingly ordinary Shen move amongst the ranks. And he gets married!

The heroines are all grown up, goku is now 18 in this tournament, we meet some old characters older along with a new evil introduction. The tournament is full of amazing battles but non more so that the final clash between good and evil....wait is goku getting married? Who is she....wait its!! So many twists and turns, one volume remaining!! 🐑

GOOD FIGHTS THE QUARTER FINALS STARTED AND WE SEE THE BEST FIGHTS SO FAR AT LEAST WHEN IT COMES TO FIGHTING PROGRESS THROUGHOUT THE SERIES. THOUGH I LIKED GOKUS AND TENSHINHANS FINAL MATCH FROM THE LAST TOURNAMENT MORE THAN THIS ONE...

Dragon Ball Manga was inked very much good, the story of course the best one. Its fantasy meeting Shonen and Goku is a the most imaginably cool and cute and funny charachter. The story goes:- Goku is the main protagonist of the series and he is approached by a girl named Bulma who's in search for the dragon balls on their way they meet an old man who tries to gets seduced, Kame Sama. And theres Krulin, a young monk fighter and also oolong and yamcha. The villian for the first half of the volumes is the blue empereor and the Red Ribbon Gang. Along the way, the droagon is summoned and can grant you any wish. Any at all. But what happens when the power falls in dark hands? Then theres goku and the gang coming in! For the rescue of course. They difeat the coloured rangers and ninjas and robotic machines, giant snakes and all is well in the end. Piccolo also appears later at the Bodukai Tournament. It is held about seven times in the whole series and it just amazes me. Truly great stuff. Piccolo somehow is defeated and sealed away while he also sends down his son Kid Picollo to get his revenge upon Goku. There's a great fight but in the end Picollo is just defeated by Goku and gets mad. The second half of the volumes namely Dragon Ball Z portrayes a race of saiyans who want to capture the earth. These volumes go deep in the history of planets around the earth, Namek especially and in Goku's history and his past. Here are the worlds greatest villians like Frieza and Vegeta and also Buu and The ANDROids. Each one anothers boss. Then theres the plo where Goku and Vegeta have kids and they can transform themselves into super saiyans form and get the whole power. Just a great series that i have admired and read. Truly readable. Recommended to this whole GALAXYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.
