Not the Erotic fanfic of Little Women I was hoping for. This was a retelling of the original Little Women, but with a little adultery and premarital sex added in. I was hoping it would be an erotic version of the original but was sadly disappointed. The sex was not stimulating enough to make this long book worth my time. Additionally, I didn't care for Laurie making out with Joe for years, just to end up marrying her little sister after she rejected his love.

Erotic retelling of a children's book??? That's disturbing. Pass.

First, this book is PG-13, not XXX. Given the original was as G-rated as you could get, this could be too big of a jump for some people. But network soap operas are more risque than this book. Margaret Pearl made the March sisters older in her book than in the original. It wouldn't work otherwise. It makes sense that teenaged girls would think about about sex even in the 1860s. Ms. Pearl has her characters be much more open about it than Ms. Alcott ever could. But the core of the story remains th First, this book is PG-13, not XXX. The additional material doesn't take away from that at all. It just gives a more realistic picture of four sisters growing up. I received a free copy of this book as part of a GoodReads give-a-way.

Lusty Little Women places the original story with sexy scenes that will delight the reader. It is done with good taste as Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth become more aware of their bodies and the young men around them. Will they find true love or will they be blinded by their lust? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it was hard to put down at times. I have always loved Louisa May Alcott's Little Women and Margaret Pearl has done a very good job with this version of the book. Nope. The author basically took the original, aged the girls up, and swapped in some mildly sexual scenes. I could have been ok with that had she not also included an affair beteen Marmee and the local doctor, then explained Marmee's charity towards the Hummels as a way of assuaging her own guilt. Nope. Done.

(In compliance with FTC Guidelines, I disclose that I received a copy of this book for free through Goodreads First Reads program). With a 21st century sensibility, Margaret Pearl fills in the gaps for the American classic "Little Women". I feel that Margaret Pearl has been consistent and true to Louisa May Alcott's literary style and intent. Potential readers should neither be put off or lured by the book's title "Lusty Little Women". My guess is that someone other than the author actually titled (In compliance with FTC Guidelines, I disclose that I received a copy of this book for free through Goodreads First Reads program). I tend to be somewhat conservative with my ratings, so when I score something "3 Stars - I liked it", it means exactly that. I liked the book.

I enjoyed reading Lusty Little Women. This book is basically a re-write of the original Little Women but updated. It follows the original pretty closely. Young women, discovering their sexuality. Their mother, separated from her husband by war, doing what she needs to do to keep her family fed and herself satisfied. Nothing hard core, just a lot of experimenting, longing, urges. It was a refreshing updated version of the original. I received this book free for an honest review.
