This won't teach you HTML5 or CSS3 or responsive web design, but it will provide you with chunks of code you can later use in your own code recipes (hence the name: COOKBOOK). Thinking about code often comes down to staring and swearing, but Jump Start Responsive Web Design makes sense from the start. SitePoint walks readers through some good design strategies, including how to work with Retina displays. It's worth reading front to back. Html5 and Css3 Responsive Web Design Cookbook is tactical, as the title suggests, but provides more description than the typical code sampler. I think this was a good 'general coverage' book, more so than a reference book. As a 'cookbook' it does offer some good script examples and all the examples I tried worked... and more importantly solved the challenges I had. Good, solid, simple examples! The author uses references to some popular frameworks as well, show how to perform the same task in each framework model... I like that format as it helps me see the changes needed to adapt to varying environments. Packt continues to publish good I think this was a good 'general coverage' book, more so than a reference book.
