Good story but terrible editing I enjoyed the story It has a solid base, but the characters seem 2 dimensional I would like to have experienced more of the lives dilemmas

Great first book. Notice: I am not a native english speaker so please excuse my bad grammar and writing style. What i write here is my subjective opinion. I think for his first book Mr. Skye has great potential, i liked this book and read it in one day. Some positive aspects: -Nice Magic system, i really liked that and the book explains it in the right amount of detail. -A interesting world with a interesting backstory. -The book gets never boring and is relative fast paced. -A competend Main Character Great first book. Some positive aspects: -Nice Magic system, i really liked that and the book explains it in the right amount of detail. -A interesting world with a interesting backstory. -The book gets never boring and is relative fast paced. -A competend Main Character (finally! It seems this is super rare with indie fantasy authors). The character tries to understand and learn his abilities and expand on them. some minor negative aspects which will probably subside with experience: -the world is a strange mix of modern and old which just feels a bit off sometimes. -The characters (especially Shane) change very fast. -some things are explained in to much detail while other things only get a short mention. -There are a lot of Quotation mark (") errors in this book, a lot of times its missing if people start or end speaking and sometimes the narrative has them. None of these aspects is a gamebreaker for me or any reason to discard the book, sometimes they are a little annoying but not overly so. Why only 4 stars then? Well there is one final negative aspect, i need to remove one star to hopefully get the authors attention for that: The Dialogues, especially from Shane!!!! Seriously they are often so incredible cheesy and wooden at the same time it is hard to take. Shane often makes up some big speech on the spot and they are really bad. the other dialogues between the characters are also very "bumpy" no normal people talk like that, neiter from the past nor from the present. The author should really try to improve them. All in all i can recommend this book to anyone who likes mages/cool magic systems and fantasy that breaks with the normal orc/dragon/stupid maincharacter scene.

Its been a long time since I've read a book about glyphs used in magic. And this book with a its twists and turns kept me up most of the night reading it. Now to go find out if book 2 is available. I highly recommend this as a great read! Its been a long time since I've read a book about glyphs used in magic. For this authors first book I can say that he has produced a story that after chapter three you have a hard job putting it down. The story is new and fresh and I am sure that R N Skye will go on to greater things. Welldone.

This book Rocks! This is a story that you can't wait to see what happens next or how it ends. But I didn't want it to end. I can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next book.
