The amusement park mystery by Gertrude Chandler Warner Kids are going to visit their cousins on Surprise Island where they have spent time at the amusement center. The Carousel horses are a big hit. Especially loved the part where the owners joined the cousins for a meal and we learn of the history of the horses and how they came to be at their park. Scary parts and you wonder if they will be able to gather all the clues and solve the mysteries! I listened to this audio book for some of my students. I really did not like this audio book but remember I am rating it as an adult, not a child, who would probably think better of the story. The voices in the audio were horrible and so annoying to listen to. Not much suspense to this mystery at all, even for a kid.

Summer in Connecticut. The children spend some time with their cousin and his wife. They spend most days at the amusement park. The story focuses on the carousel and hall of mirrors.

I recommend this book to Middle Schoolers, because this book has a few harder words through out. Also I would recommend this book to people who like adventure because throughout this whole book there is tons of adventure.

This title is a little duller than the other titles but it is still a great read. The children go to the amusement park multiple times (and that is a little monotonousness reading) but there is still a mystery and bad guys to thwart. That gets done in typical Alden/Boxcar Children style. They suspect many and eventually pin it down to the guilty party and, of course, Benny gets to eat a lot (especially pink cotton candy). These titles are still a good choice as gifts for young children because yo This title is a little duller than the other titles but it is still a great read. I would say my son and I marginally enjoyed this one. It took quite awhile to get to the actual 'mystery' portion of the book and by then we were both losing interest. The setting was the only thing that kept us going- my son enjoyed reading about the rides at the park. It was very obvious who the perpetrator was, and they pretty much gave themselves up at the end, even though it wasn't necessary. It was a case of "you kids keep pestering us, so I guess we'll confess and turn ourselves in". It w I would say my son and I marginally enjoyed this one. It was a fun venue for a Boxcar mystery, but beyond that there wasn't much meat to the mystery or the story.

I dismissed these Boxcar Children mysteries as hokey and therefore did not buy them, but then the kindle had some for a VERY low price so I could not resist. And really it is not bad all. Yes, it is hokey, but it also a nice little mystery for little kids. (It involves trying to figure out what happened to the carousel horses. We learned two new words: "calliope" and "dappled".) Sure, this book was as good as the other boxcar children books I have read. It is full of exciting wonders and many parts that make me as scared as Benny. when reading the fun amusement things, I feel envy and wish I were actually at a amusment park too. It was really hard not to think that though.

It's fun to read another Boxcar Children book. I haven't read one in a long time. I really liked the setting (an amusement park). It made it really fun to read. One of my favorite childhood series. I read over a hundred of them. The first 50 or so were in order; after that I read whatever book I could get my hands on :)
